This is the third book in the series and continues to build on the themes established in the previous books. Most of the setting is on a ranch in Wyoming and the characters from previous books make small appearances. I got a laugh from Derek's line "Is everyone around here either gay or fucked up?" Luckily they are or the series would be very short!

Derek St Martin is a country music singer at the top of his career but burning out. Hiding his sexuality, resorting to pills and booze, he is on the verge of a breakdown. His step-brother arranges for him to spend three months on a ranch in Wyoming. The ranch belongs to gay couple Tony Romanos and Brody MacCafferty (from Home of His Own)who are away in Europe. Therefore Derek is left in the hands of the ranch foreman Max.

Max has his own issues. He doesn't have any family left and has been terribly hurt in the past by relationships not in the open. He doesn't hide his own sexuality and won't be anyone's hidden secret. However, while Derek is on the ranch he is prepared to risk some heartbreak. "It might hurt in the end when Derek returned to Nashville, but Max was willing to take what he could get and regret it later, instead of regretting never taking a chance at all."

The three months on the ranch and the time with Max, do wonderful things for Derek, both in terms of his mental and physical recovery but he is also impacted by their relationship "Derek feared the breaking would go both ways. His heart wasn't getting out the relationship without a few scars."

I enjoyed the gradual build of the relationship between Derek and Max. They took their time with the physical side of the relationship. As with other books in this series, focus is on the emotional needs of the men and there are clear messages of acceptance and of family - you can surround yourself with people who accept, love and support you and make your own family.

I must admit to being a little bit confused by some of the events once Max and Derek parted ways. Max's reasons for not following Derek were very clear and made sense, however I couldn't understand . At least they got their HEA.

On a small note, there were a couple of minor points that also stood out to me, perhaps because I am Australian. When Max was talking about his past and his mother, "Mom" was used in most instances apart from once where "Mum" was used. I always think it is great attention to detail if "Mum" is used consistently in the speech of Australians and British characters. Also Max said he was raised in Sydney for 22 years but then said he spent time with his mum "We'd wander the Outback, hiking....". Sydneysiders do not typically 'wander the outback'. For one thing it is not a simple 'hike' and secondly it's too far away. For most people, visiting the outback would be a 'once in a life-time' type adventure. Sorry to be so picky! :)

Ein Happy End scheint also unmöglich.

Reader Advisory: This book is best read in a sequence as part of a serie.

Reader Advisory: This book was previously released at another publisher. It has been revised and re-edited for release by Total-E-Bound.

Now this was a lovely story, almost gentle and quite sweet. After a heavy dose of intense and heavy books that required all my concentration this one was almost relaxing.

Derek is a very famous Country singer. He has managed to achieve all he has ever dreamed, but the ugly truth is all that has drained him. His lifestyle, his constant tours, the publicity and most of all the fact he has to keep utter control and never allow people to know his true self have taken their toll. Now he’s burnt down, on the brink of the breakdown and in need of drug and alcohol rehab. Eight years ago this is all he wanted; now his soul is slipping away from him.

In a last attempt to save his brother from himself Eddie sends Derek to some friends’ ranch. It’s the perfect opportunity since the owners will be gone and Derek will have all the solitude he needs to get himself together. Of course Max, the foreman of the ranch, is not very happy with the arrangement. He has no wish to babysit a spoilt singer, but the moment he lays eyes on Derek his brain takes a vacation and he can’t seem to make his mouth work. Derek is one hell of a sexy man and max will have to keep far away from him if he doesn’t want to embarrass himself.

Well you can see where this story goes. I loved these men so much, I loved their flirting period, and the narration thank God was neither rushed nor corny. Max is that gruff character; he doesn’t say much, but what he says are somehow profound and inspire Derek into creating his most beautiful music to date. They both go into a relationship knowing it will be over by the end of the summer; that doesn’t stop either of them falling in love.

This was the point that I actually feared, I was expecting the corny stuff and I was pleasantly surprised with how good the author managed it. Now drama, no words of eternal love, no “I’ll do anything for you and follow you to the end of the world” lines. Thank you dear author for how you made it happen, I don’t think I could handle a different approach. I must admit that I had the laugh of the day when time came for Derek to leave and Max literally tells him that he won’t follow because they’ll end up hating each other, and then proceeds to wish him misery away from him, his greatest hope is that he’ll never get over their love and that Derek will hurt and suffer as much as he will. It was epic, it was bloody brilliant, it was so Max. It mostly surprised me because this entire read was so gentle and that comment hit me like lightning in the middle of a blue sky. Loved it!

I have avoided so far commenting on intimate scenes because I wanted to give first and foremost all the good points of this book. The sexual parts though not bad, did lack that certain something, that spark that takes your breath away. My expectations were extremely high due to both men’s past. Derek never having been in a relationship, with only few encounters here and there, and Max being the gruff guy with the fear of God when it came to relationships, I very well thought there would be lava melting sex/love involved. The intention might have been there somewhere, but the result was nowhere near that steamy hot etc. etc. And while normally that really bothers me I confess this time it was only a slight annoyance, one I could easily overlook because the story itself made me feel really, really good. In the end for me that’s what matters and I’d recommend this one to all lovers of western love stories.

Country music star, Derek St. Martin has to get away. On the verge of a breakdown, taking more pills than he can keep straight, and drinking from the moment he wakes up till he falls asleep, Derek needs some peace and quiet. When his stepbrother finds a place for him to stay in the Wyoming country, Derek reluctantly agrees. The plan was to relax, detox, and start writing music again. What he didn’t expect was the sexy foreman on the RM Ranch.

Max Furlo understands that everybody has secrets. He loves his job; it’s quiet, accepting, and no one asks too many questions. When Derek shows up on the ranch, Max knows that his life is about to change. Giving into his attraction means setting himself up for heartache because Derek will undoubtedly be returning to Nashville at the end of his three months on the ranch. But Max isn’t strong enough to deny his attraction to the country singer.

A romance that began as a simple attraction becomes a love stronger than either man ever imagined. And as their time together draws to a close, both men must decide whether hiding their relationship from the world is really worth it. Can love really overcome?

Wishing for a Home is the third book in T.A. Chase’s Home series. It’s a change from the rodeo lifestyle of the previous two installments. This book showcases life on the ranch and the life of a country music star. This author shows her knowledge of the country life in more ways than one. I like that this series isn’t so single-minded.

Max and Derek are likable, relatable characters. Derek is lost and broken. His life hasn’t turned out the way he planned. He wants more from his life but he’s not sure how to get it. I love his progression of healing and finding himself in this story. He becomes less dependent on those around him and on drugs and alcohol, and he learns to depend and trust himself. Max is a big factor in Derek’s growth. Max is strong and stable. He has a painful past that has shaped his life and his beliefs. He’s wary of anything with Derek in the beginning, preferring to be on his own. But after giving in even Max has a little progression of his own. He learns to open up and trust at least one person in his life. Max and Derek complement each other well and they’re a great couple.

I like this story. It’s a journey of self-discovery for both Derek and Max. The previous book is my favorite of the series, but this is a close second. The story flows so well and the writing is smooth. I am also happy to report that the dialogue is less sugary sweet and melodramatic. The plot is believable and entertaining. The combination of ranch life and country music life, a mix of the country and the city, is a wonderful contrast. The romance is sweet with a little bit of conflict to make it real. All around it’s a really good story.

Overall, Wishing for a Home by T.A. Chase is a sweet tale of unexpected love and self-discovery. I love the realism of this story. That it’s not too easy for the MCs. The characters are great. And the new look into the different career lifestyles is refreshing. And I loved the glimpses into the lives of the characters from the previous installments. I’m looking forward to Peter’s story, as well as Yancey and Juan’s. I highly recommend Wishing for a Home.

This story is more low key and a very relaxing story. No heavy drama and great if you're looking for a light read and having the characters from the other books make their appearance in this one is brilliant and and adds a bite to it.

Meh. That's it, my whole review. The story was okay, the sex was okay, the relationship was okay. Nothing that stood out or made me wish the book was longer. Broken country singer, lonely cowboy....they fall in love and live happily ever after. Done.

It's been two years since the last book I do believe and during this book another year an month passes. I loved Derek and Max's story it was sweet and as all I have read by T.A. Chase a Happily ever after book.

Derek's burned out with everything and he's ready to give up on what he loves so much. His step brother, who is his best friend, Eddie sends him off to his friends ranch. Les and Randy's ranch is crazy so he ends up at Tony and Brody's because it is quieter and they are off in Germany when the book starts. Derek's mostly on his own at the RM ranch. However, Max, Tony and Brody's foreman is there and there is a mutual attraction between them.

Derek's been hiding who he is for so long because of his singing, but on the ranch he can be who he wants to be. Max and him hit it off and decided to give it a go even if it becomes a summer fling. By the time the three months are up and they are in love with each other. So much has happened between them as well including Derek's passion for music coming back.

The three months are up and Derek asks Max to go back with him, but Max can't because of the way his dad and mom were. He refuses to go in a closet and be couldn't handle Derek and him self resenting each other down the road. Derek leaves and they are both heart broken. Yancey tried to get Max to do what was in his heart, but Max couldn't. As the year goes on things change, but they never stop loving each other even though they only talked once before Max and Derek got there happy ending.

Peter Skinner's story is mentioned in this book. Juan and Yancey story is also talked about I can't wait for their stories. I wished there had been more of them in here, but waiting is the best part.

I also enjoyed Eddie, Derek's step brother there should be a book about him.

Hmmmm I do love me some hot country singers. Derek St. Martin may just be the perfect dream man. Growing up on a ranch I would have loved for him to come sweep me off my feet. Ok, so his being straight would have helped, but you get my point. Max, the oh so strong and silent type, yummy.

Derek St. Martin is the king of country music, but he's spiraling out of control. He can't handle the life and is living off of booze and pills to get through the last bit of his tour. When doctors orders put him on a forced three month vacation he's relieved, but has no real plans where to go. A call from his step brother offers a vein of hope, Wyoming and via Les, Tony and Brody's ranch. Not only is it quiet and no one will bother him, but he won't have to continue to hide his sexuality. He can just be himself. Still Derek isn't expecting to meet Max, the men's hot as hell foreman. As their relationship builds over the short time Derek is visiting Derek finds more and more of himself and his music returns. But this was always going to be a vacation. He has to return to Nashville sometime. No matter how much he comes to love the strong, quiet man beside him.

While the build up to all of this was great. A sweet romance that developed quickly, a lot of hot cowboy action, with plenty of country soul for me the end's what makes this book. I love the fact that Max understands the reality of the situation and isn't all love conquers all. I liked the little bit of angst there at the end even though you know eventually it will all turn out alright. Still draw it out for me a little and I'll love you for it. In the end it's the perfect solution and I'm a happy little bunny. :)

It was a pleasurable read for me that I didn't want to put it down and do other things. I loved the dynamics(if you can call it that) of Max and Derek. What I write next may be considered spoilers for some, so read with caution.

Derek St. Martin is a famous country singer who's deeply in the closet as directed by his manager. For 8 years he hasn't been with a man and has spiraled down to drug and alcohol abuse. After his doctor recommends him to a 3 month vacation, his step brother arranges for him to spend the summer at a ranch where he can be himself.

Max Furlo is a foreman at the ranch who doesn't talk much and mostly keeps to himself. At first he disliked the idea of "babysitting" the celebrity but later grows to like him. Polite, sweet and sexy as Hell Derek is, Max can't help but feel attracted to him. Knowing that the star won't be staying for long he has to decide whether to hook up with Derek and end up hearbroken in the end. Or stay away and end up regretting not making a move at him.

It's a great read and I know you'll enjoy it as much as I did. Though there are some grammatical errors, the author's writing keeps you invested in the story well enough to ignore them. Enjoyable characters left and right help too. If they ever made a short movie adaptation I would totally watch it. And if he ever writes a sequel to, "Wishing for a Home" I would read that too.

This review contains what some people might consider spoilers.

I wasn't able to finish this book. There's certainly nothing wrong with it. In fact, both the main and supporting characters are very likeable. The writing is solid. It just didn't hold my interest. I prefer books with a bit more adventure and drama. There was an opportunity to create that with Derek, the country superstar, who's taking a much needed break after a drug and alcohol fueled eight month tour. He's used the drugs and alcohol to keep him dampen the pain of surpressing that he's gay. However, once Derek arrives on the ranch he appears to be A-OK, no withdrawal symptoms or fighting the urge for drugs. He sort of bounces back after a few good nights of sleep and new music begins to flow. I also wasn't convinced of a genuine pull/attraction between Derek and Max. We get that they're both very good looking, but they are also just the two of them on the ranch for weeks. Both have abstained from m/m sex for a long time. This had me wondering if they would have fallen for each other if not for the circumstances, i.e. relief that Derek doesn't need to hide and Max has got someone who isn't already in a m/m relationship to spend time with. The pacing and unfolding of the story was slow for me. I can see, however, why others would enjoy it as it is a very sweet story.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Again not as good as the first book. I wanted to love this one, normally I love a crossover of my two of my favourite types. This did not do as much for me as it could have. It was sweet enough and it was an enjoyable read, just not what it could have been. I do think this series is great though and I will continue to read the books.

Derek and Max... This couple bugged me to the point of no return. They were amazing together and yet, they broke up... Well, I suppose they didn't technically break up they weren't officially a couple. I still see it as a break up though and a very unnecessary one. I hate those types of break-ups and it's the main reason I cannot give this book a 5th star.

Like the last one I loved the fact we got to see more the other couple's of the series and hear how they were doing. I would have liked maybe some more interaction with those couples. It was not ideal, not by a long shot, I love those other couples and they help make the story perfect.

Back story was similar. Screwed up families. I am getting to see a pattern in these books and I know that the next one has the same issues. It would be nice to see a slight twist on bad family. Not that I am complaining much.

Recommend this series!

Derek is a famous country singer whose life sucks. He's taking tons of pills and alcohol to function and his health is not great. Following his tour his doctors say 3 months minimum so his step-brother Edward arranges it so he can go to Tony and Brody's ranch in Wyoming. (Those of the Home of his Own and No Going Home). They are going to be out of town but Max the foreman is tasked with watching over him. He's not thrilled but they are both attracted and eventually give in even though Max knows Derek will leave eventually. Derek is deep in the closet because he's been told he needs to stay straight to keep his fans. It's a typical sweet romance of TA Chase, which I needed desperately the night I read it. It's kind of fun to see Les and Randy and the characters from the other books. I liked Max and his gruff non-talking side and it was funny to see everyone's reactions when he came out of his shell after hooking up with Derek. So if you're looking for typical Chase cowboys it's a nice addition to the series. Lots of other characters I presume will get their books eventually.

I could sing you a song.
I could think of a rhyme.
If things had been different.
If I could go back in time.
I'd never start drinking.
I'd never sell my soul.
I'd never treat you like a secret.
I'd be proud of my role.
If I was your lover.
If I was your friend.
If I...If I...
The End

I liked the beginning. No real conflict. Well, maybe a little conflict, but nothing that wasn't insurmountable. Max drew Derek's personality out, however Max seemed to let Derek go with reasonable, but very thin reasoning and I found myself thinking 'what the hell is wrong with you?' It was kinda selfish that he didn't want to be hurt because, in my book, real love is worth fighting for. The ending with the time jumps was necessary, but not smooth. We don't really know how each person is doing emotionally, just superficially which took some of the steam out of this read. A little better than alright.

I love this series and I'm sorry to see it end. T.A. introduced a great new couple who were as different as any men could be, but at the same time so well matched. Derek came from a public world, people always around scrutinizing his every move, a world where he couldn't be who he really was, forced to go as far as sleeping with women to stave his loneliness and desire. Max was a quiet, solitary man, happy to be living and working where he was, but when Derek appears to stay for a while, the sparks are almost immediate. I loved that they went slow in the beginning with all their making out and flirting, at least until Derek almost exploded and told Max in no uncertain terms that he was ready. There wasn't a whole lot of conflict or angst in this book but Derek and Max were hot, sweet and well, just perfect together, and that's all that was needed.

Nice and comfortable – more along the lines of a 3.5 rating.

I’m reading this series a little out of order, but each of the books seems to stand pretty well on its own. It’s nice revisiting “old” characters and having them woven into each successive book. Derek and Max are great guys. They are opposites in many ways, but make perfect harmony together. There was nothing particularly angsty about their relationship until close to the end of the book and even that worked out without a lot of drama. I think that if there were a little more depth in various parts of the book, this could have been a 4 star rating for me. It just felt a little rushed and perhaps too easy at times, but didn’t diminish my enjoyment one bit! How can you not enjoy a sexy cowboy and hot country star getting their groove on? :)

This 3rd 'Home' installment didn't do it for me. I didn't do that well with the previous two either so looks like I'll stick to the author's Tabloid Star series which I do like.

WGaH seemed to just flow on with nothing much going on and I need a little more kick to my stories than just a young man going to a ranch to recuperate and that's all the book is about. Very uneventful. I flipped through the pages, knowing I wasn't missing anything crucial. I expected some fireworks between Derek and Max based on the book blurb but that was misleading because Max liked Derek as soon as he set eyes on him and there was nothing to DISlike about Derek because he's such a nice guy. The whole ranch is filled with nice guys who are nice to each other.

That sums up the entire story.

I was pleasantly surprised by Wishing for a Home. I've had it on my Kindle for about a year and just never got around to reading it - something kept putting me off. I honestly wish I'd read it sooner, because I thoroughly enjoyed it. There were a few grammatical errors which was a shame, but overall the story and character development was sound and engaging. I loved both Max and Derek, and was rooting for their HEA the whole way through.

I hadn't realised until after I read this that it is actually book 3 in a series, but it made perfect sense as a stand-alone story. I'm very much looking forward to reading the first two books and learning more about Les, Randy, Brody and Tony. I also wouldn't mind learning more about Yancey and Juan.

Of the three books in the Home series Wishing for a Home is my favorite...so far. That may be because each of the books build on the prior one, but still tell the story of a new love relationship. Max and Derek, the two love interests in this story, fit together perfectly. Like two pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Mr. Chase does an excellent job of creating a world where they can find each other and fall in love. I was sad to put the book down and I've read elsewhere that Mr. Chase isn't continuing the series. That's disappointing because I was really looking forward to seeing how Juan and Yancey's relationship developed.

I give Wishing for a Home four stars.

This was definitely my favourite book in the Home series.
When I read the first book in the series I wasn´t so sure I liked it, but I read the second book anyway and then I was hooked.

I really liked Max and Derek and the interaction between them. I wish I had gotten to know Max a little more, because even though he had a tough youth he seems so nice and caring. A side of him that is probably enhanced when Derek is in the picture. Even though I definitely would like more of Max and Derek the book was just the right length.

I hope that T.A. Chase will continue the story, both so that I get to enjoy Max and Derek more and because I really really want to read about Juan and Yancey!

Another good book in the series. Sometimes I leave too long between each book and it takes me a little while to remember all of the characters.
This is the story of Derek, a famous country and western singer who is forced to take a three month long vacation to recover from his latest tour.
His brother sets him up to visit his friend Tony's ranch in Wyoming. There he meets Max.
A cute story about the 2 guys falling in love. However, for whatever their reasons when they parted, I felt they should gave stayed in touch. After such an intense 3 months to part like that was strange.
However, they finally got their HEA.

Funny how my enjoyment of this author's books varies so. I had a hard time connecting with Max and Derek. I didn't feel the attraction, didn't feel the love between them, just didn't get they couldn't keep their hands off of each other. Max was annoying. Stoic, taciturn. Yes, he had some sort of history, but didn't explain his personality. I did like Derek. We met him briefly in book 2 and I was so looking forward to his book. I did like how their differences were handled and their need to put things right before they could be together. Very adult. But I just didn't enjoy this one as much as book 2.

The story was really good and I enjoyed reading it. The way the main characters'realitionship developed was natural and sweet. When some trouble arose and they had their disagreements, it was easy to see where they both were coming from.

I have to say that, to keep up with this book and the realitionships in it, you have to read the one before this one. All books tell their own story, but the stories are all little mixed up with each other. And that is only good thing.

I recommend this book to anybody who loves cowboys and singers and absolutely sweet love stories. <3

This is the third book of the series. This is a great story .. Liked the way the same develops and how Derek finally decides to confront his life and take time to overcome what entails to be a country star. Max is quiet and he is Tony and Brody's ranch foreman. When Derek's brother suggest he goes to Wyoming , Max meets Derek. They connect and after is time for Derek to go back , Max refuses to live under the shadow of hiding. After time apart Derek decides to make changes and be himself. Love is what kept them fighting for the home they wanted.

Really like this story. I'm a sucker for musicians, but what I really appreciated about the characters and the story was that the truth is, sometimes love isn't enough and you can love someone and still end up really resenting them too - and eventually it kills the love. I liked that the characters had to work out their own issues and that there wasn't some easy pat answer. They had to spend time apart and make tough decisions to get to the HEA.

I enjoyed it, but it wasn't as emotionally engaging to me as the first two. I liked the MC's, but felt more distant from their story, almost literally like I was watching it unfolding from farther away. I also enjoyed the little tidbits about the characters from earlier in the series. Side-note: while generally well proofed, there were a few spots where sentences had extra words/missing words/words out of order. It broke my concentration at times.
