1. Funny guns strike again! (apparently Flannery cribbed Graz Burya from Ludlum, heh, + the imaginary TK pistols, oh well) 2. The Russians (at least the major characters) are lifted straight from Doctor Zhivago. This is not a compliment. 3. The basic conceit (so as to avoid spoilers) was improved upon by Ralph Peters (no surprise here), and then done a major disservice by Brendon DuBois (again, no surprise).
In general, an efficient second-tier thriller from the eighties, no more, but definitely no less, either.

This was a decent but not spectacular read. it plodded a bit and was a little too predictable. It was, however, enjoyable.
