When a Soviet agent is killed by his own men after passing secrets to an American, CIA spy Tony Bertonelli finds himself stalked by the KGB until he finds an unexpected ally
1. Funny guns strike again! (apparently Flannery cribbed Graz Burya from Ludlum, heh, + the imaginary TK pistols, oh well) 2. The Russians (at least the major characters) are lifted straight from Doctor Zhivago. This is not a compliment. 3. The basic conceit (so as to avoid spoilers) was improved upon by Ralph Peters (no surprise here), and then done a major disservice by Brendon DuBois (again, no surprise). In general, an efficient second-tier thriller from the eighties, no more, but definitely no less, either.
