Luna & Sol Omegaverse #2

Forbidden: Part Two

Rate this book
Just when I'd finally allowed myself to hope, I’m plunged right back into the darkness.

The past few weeks with her alphas have been a dream for Josie, but her newfound freedom is short-lived. Robbed of her autonomy, retraumatized, and disempowered, she finds herself struggling not to fall apart. Again.

Cam, Theo, and Ben are desperate to help Josie as they feel her slipping away. But just as their love and care starts to clear the shadows, the pack comes up against an alpha with a long-held obsession for their fated mate — and a plan that threatens more than just one life.

As the cracks start to show in the Designation Government, they become increasingly desperate in the struggle to fight off the Alliance’s advances. And they’re determined to make an example of all omegas who refuse to fall in line.

Stripped of everything she cares about, Josie must choose between bowing to authority and reclaiming what’s hers: a life with the loving alpha pack who has always seen her strength and power.

Forbidden: Part Two is a first-person, multiple POV Why Choose omegaverse romance with a curvy FMC and her cinnamon roll alpha pack. Featuring high-spice MFMM scenes and a suspenseful plot, this book delivers the happily ever after following Forbidden: Part One.

✅ Multiple POVs
✅ Comfort/healing story
✅ Pace and plot
✅ More action and politics
✅ Angst and tension
✅ Smut
✅(🆗) Still some fat-shaming
✅(🆗) Villains
❗️❗️Trigger warning: mentions of past abuse (sexual touch, neglect, manipulation, and psychological abuse), fat-shaming

This book was better than the first one, for sure. For starters, there was a plot in this one, with action, and some politics, and it was not only all about Josie and her everyday life with her alphas. Everything that was hinted at in the first book (the Alliance, Glen being obsessed with Josie, Josie’s pack fathers having another plan for her) finally happened in this book, making it much more interesting. The pace was also better, making it easier to read this book quickly, even though it is 500 pages long.

There is angst and tension in this book, and I loved it. I am an angst-lover, and for the whole of the first book, I was waiting for the other shoe to drop, for something to happen to Josie and/or her alphas, but I was disappointed. Well, this book gave me the angst I wanted. From kidnapping to abuse, with a side of murders and imprisonment, Josie and her alphas have a lot of obstacles to face if they want to get their happy ending.

Josie grows and gains confidence in this book. I liked her in the first book, but she was not that impressive if I am being honest. Now though, she is more assertive and confident, while still being vulnerable and dealing with her trauma. Still, she refused to be left behind and did not hesitate to let others know what she thought about their ideas, or how she was an asset that should be used in their plans. She is still driven by her hormones and omega instincts at times, but it feels like she was able to handle it all better than in the first book.

There is also more smut than in the first book, and it gets spicier too. Josie is finally ready to bond with her alphas, and she has no reservations about having sex with them anymore. She is even exploring some of her and their kinks, but while there were a lot of spicy moments, it did not overshadow the plot, which I appreciate.

The villains were the weaker part of this book. First of all, Glen was portrayed as a ruthless and cunning man in the first book, and now he’s acting like a lunatic who is losing his grasp on reality. It doesn't fit with what we saw and read in the first book at all. Then, Jericho is the mastermind behind it all, but it is not really explained or shown, we are just told that he is pulling at the strings behind the scenes, and then he is discarded with the rest of the bad guys. I was expecting more from the villains who were able to overthrow a government and turn their province into a patriarchal/dystopian society in a few years. In the end, Jericho was not present enough to make an impact and Glen was very underwhelming.

The final book in this series focuses on Westin, and I will give it a try because I am intrigued by her, and we saw more of her in the second book. Still, I hope that there will be a plot besides her finding a pack and living happily ever after. Now that the government has been dismantled, I feel that there is not much left to do plot-wise for the Alliance, so we’ll see what the author came up with, and hope it will be good.

The farther I went, I realized that this novel just wasn't for me. Although I did enjoy some characters, the main focus of the book was Josie's and in part, her packmates' trauma. Any action in this story was glossed over and it when the author wanted to create conflict other than the abuse, new legislation was magically passed that day/night/hour to keep omegas from doing.whatever Josie needed to do.

alright alright alright

The plot said yes, the dialogue said dig me a hole and let me bury my head in it like an ostrich.

I love the futuristic, handmaid's tale, disgusting patriarchy moment these two books were but Jesus Christ on a motorbike... the clichés are on speed and running wild out in these streets!! It's head hurting to have all alphas be testosterone ridden idiots who have a biological tendency to think everyone else is inept. And have all omegas be constantly cryingggg.

Real funny how the most important parts are when Josie isn't with her pack. I also need them to stop saying how lucky they are to have her, I swear to god that phrase came up 37 times. And I need Josie to have some rage. Home girl got passed around with her family's consent, was tortured and beaten down for being who she is. At the end I needed her to go full Carrie. She organised a self defence course, she clearly wanted to hit someone. Have her be against killing until she completely flips the switch at the end when she thinks she's lost everything, including her pack and go bat shit Targaryen. And then have her deal with it and her trauma and her resuscitated pack at the end and be like *bloop* a little kindle of hope for you, the end!

I devoured this. When I wasn’t reading this I found myself wishing I was.

I said a lot in my review of the first book and a lot of that remains the same. This one had a bit more action though, and it was pretty well written. There were some humorous scenes mixed in to help ease the tension and they were actually funny. I loved seeing Josie’s growth. Miss girl went through it, but by the end she was happy, confident and living her best life (as she should!!). Cam, Theo and Ben remained perfect and I refuse to be told otherwise.

This series was my first dive into omegaverse and it has left me super intrigued to venture more into this genre. I’m also looking forward to more stuff from this author and this universe. I definitely recommend!

Duet complete!!

I was lucky enough to get early copies of this why choose omegaverse duet and it was AMAZING!! When I found out this was Emilia Emerson‘s debut I was floored. Truly.

If you’re looking for an Omegaverse with a curvy heroine and alphas that worship the ground she walks on, don’t hesitate to pick up this duet.

There are definitely some darker themes at play throughout both books, so check TWs before reading so you can make sure you will have a good time 🫶🏻

Wow. Almost 500 pages. This was extremely dramatic and traumatic and mostly hard to get through. Again, not bad writing, just unnecessary details and plot line that did not advance character development or story at all. It was not as predictable as I was expecting it to be given the whole abduction and trial thing. However, it just wasn't for me.

There’s room for more people in the pack, right??

This duet was really well done. I cried and laughed and loved the characters. There was so much darkness in the omegaverse world, but the pack were so sweet anyway.
I may be a little obsessed with Ben. And also a little upset that there was no sword crossing (yes I know the author said that at the beginning but they would be so cute!).

Spice: 5/5

After reading, more like devouring, Eliana Lee’s omegaverse duology and standalone I started following her on social media. I saw that she was working on an upcoming project with another author and wanted to check out their work so I could support them both in the upcoming months. Similar to Lee’s omegaverse, Emilia Emerson/Rossi has a duology and a standalone set in the same world with overlapping characters. For the purpose of this review I’ll be discussing both books in the duology: Forbidden Part One and Forbidden Part Two.

In Forbidden Part One we are introduced to our characters and a very tumultuous political system where alphas have stripped omegas of almost all their rights. There are many aspects of the politics and governing body that were very triggering to read due to our real world political climate, but thankfully all of our main characters are part of the rebellious alliance that is trying to dismantle this system and bring justice to omega’s.

Our FMC omega has experienced a lot of trauma, and so have her future alphas. It was hard to watch as she relived some of these experiences in dreams or flashbacks while her new alphas sat by helplessly until she was able to trust them. They gained her trust slowly and through repetitive positive actions that reinforced their genuine intentions. Each alpha was able to break down his own walls and explore their own trauma through the comforting connection they shared with their omega.

Our omega deals with body image issues, food issues, and initially has an aversion to sex or pleasuring themselves. While not all of these issues are resolved (because that would be unrealistic to how working through trauma looks in real life) we do see our omega progress throughout the story. This book does end on a cliffhanger that threads into part two, but don’t worry. Part two does deliver a happily ever after. Eventually.

Unfortunately in order to arrive at that happy place in Forbidden Part Two, we the reader and our newly beloved characters have to go through absolute hell on earth first. I cried my way through most of the chapters in this book. The trauma and emotional turmoil was a physical presence in the room with me, hovering possessively (and not in the hot way) while I made my way through this story. I had to push through and remind myself I was promised a HEA, but holy moly was it a rough book to read.

I should also note that these books were long in addition to being slightly triggering. I did find myself skimming a lot of this book and just reading dialogue sections at times so that I could avoid some of the inner monologues of the pain and confusion while our characters were suffering.

Thankfully this book wraps up by piecing our characters back together, and I attempted to piece myself together right along with them. I’m not sure how well I accomplished that task on my own, but I am excited to start the third book in this series, which is a standalone that features an omega we met in this duology.

This story was a wild emotional ride, and while I do really love seeing characters cared for after a traumatic event, this novel definitely pushed closer and closer to my personal reading boundaries. I’m tempted to classify this story as a dark omegaverse romance due to some of the themes that were present, and extremely challenging to get through. On the positive side there was great representation for Dom/sub and BDSM dynamics, excellent cooking and baking scenes, and a fearsome alpha who has a wicked collection of romance novels.

I wouldn’t recommend this particular omegaverse duology to anyone who is new to this genre, but if you want something that will pull at your heart strings, make you equal parts horrified, pissed off, and cheering for the ending then definitely consider picking these books up.

The way my anxiety was at an all time high during the first half of this book, ugh.

Dystopian/patriarchal government OVs gmfu, but thank goodness HEAs are a given!!!

This was a great conclusion to the duet. There was a LOT going on, which wasn't exactly what I was looking for at this point in time, but I do think everything was addressed and wrapped up nicely. There's enough closure to be satisfying but some open ends for the author to revisit other storylines in this universe!

The character development was solid! Especially for FMC Josie. I couldn't really stand her in book one, but she's much more confident in this one while maintaining her vulnerability! I really liked that this book touched on the characters letting their inner omegas/alphas come to the forefront and having their instincts drive their actions. (I just like the more primal side of things, okay haha).

Pack Ashwood was a delight. Their friendship was palpable throughout this series. I didn't feel any serious competition between any of the guys, they all genuinely just want to love and love on their omega. :3 I think Theo is my favorite alpha, though I adore all these doting alphas!

I do wish Josie snapped during the middle. Like bloodthirsty snapped. Or maybe I'm just bloodthirsty... :)

I loved it.
It wrecked me in some places, check trigger warnings before you start this duet and then again before you start this second book, because fuck. She goes through some really traumatic shit in the past, and then some more in this book.

For me, it was totally worth all the sobbing I did though.
I mean. We got: a soft(like super soft)Dom, some really light primal play, some funishment spankings, some very light bondage, a ton of dirty praise…plus there was all the omegaverse goodness of scents, tastes, nesting, heats, tons of cuddling and snuggling, growling and purring..
It was hot. And a fun time.
I really enjoyed it, and these characters were so lovable and relatable, I felt really connected and invested for all of them.

I’m gonna have to look what else this author has out.
I really enjoyed the world she built in this duet. It was dark and fucked up, but the people were so good.

Personally this was not a bad book but I really did struggle with staying focused and it took me days to complete it. Aside from the relationship between Josie and her three alphas, shifter politics takes center stage as the duet comes to a close. Omegas are being taken from their packs and politicians are being blackmailed to push through such laws and restrictive rules which are in turn ruining families. There's also a lot of emotional turmoil all the characters go through and each has to find their way out of a dark place. Some minor action but nothing overly exciting as the changing of any world does not happen in one day. Overly sweet RH omegaverse read which I enjoyed but perhaps it did not need to be soooo long.

This is my joint review for the series because I read them both so quickly, one after the other!
I went into this thinking it would be like Ice Planet Barbarian’s where I would just love it because it was absolute trash but it actually turned out to be a serious book and I enjoyed it! There were some negatives but to be honest my expectations were so low this was close to a five star read for me

Very good series

This is my first read for this author and I am sure to read more. I was in an “Omega Mood.” And thus duet didn’t disappoint. Loved the dynamics between Cam, Ben, and Theo even without Josie. She just rounded out the pack so nicely. The story had unexpected twists that I really liked. I am hoping the author continues that in the next book. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥/5 very steamy and be mindful of the trigger warnings.

I loved this wrap-up of the story of Josie and her men. But poor Josie went through it and it made me cry, and in my book, that's a plus. I'm so glad that Josie was able to get some closure and completely overcome her insecurities. And we got to see how their government began progressing. Of course, the spice was nice, we got to see more BDSM and there was some light primal play. This book could have been shorter by about 10 chapters, but apart from that I loved it. And I can't wait to see more of this universe. Hopefully, Westin’s story.

Favorite quotes/scenes:

“I’d known from the first second I laid eyes on her that I belonged completely to her.” (Ben)

“Every one of your curves is a miracle to me. Every line of your body, the feel of your skin, like heaven.” (Ben)

“I have no doubts about my future with you. We’re going to have forever together, beautiful. It’s written in the stars.” (Ben)

“Just know I’m with you completely. I’ll follow you into battle wherever you lead me.” (Ben)

“You were taking too long. I missed you. “
“I’ve been gone thirty seconds,” I said dryly, although I was secretly pleased by her words… by her missing me. (Josie and Theo)

“I’ve been yours before the universe ever dreamed of us.” (Theo)

“It was as if their love was imprinted on my very soul. I would never be alone again.”(Josie)

“I was constantly in awe of how special she was—so kind, utterly brilliant, and perfectly sexy. Even though I might not deserve her, I wasn’t about to give her up for anything.” (Cam)

ARC REVIEW

This was the perfect conclusion to Josie, Cam, Ben and Theo’s love story! I had teary eyes 4 times in the first 10%, was laughing out loud at 30%, was an anxious mess by 60% and smiled from ear to ear through the last 20%! This book took me on an emotional journey and I absolutely loved it! The growth these characters went through was amazing, how they healed each other through their love! Perfection! I don’t know if it was intentional on the author’s part, but I loved the parallel between all the laws and bills that were passed in Luna to deprive Omegas of basic rights and everything going on in the US with trans rights and abortion rights! This second book in the duet was even better than the first (which I absolutely loved) and I can’t recommend this duet enough if you love sweet omegaverse with dark themes!

🚨ALERT SPOILERS AHEAD🚨

“The moment the guards backed away, I threw my arms around him. I didn’t care if it made us look weak; I needed my pack brother’s reassurance.” 😭🥺💕

Oh my god I mean really there’s only one solution when it comes to people like the DA - complete and totally annihilation

“Every one of your curves is a miracle to me. Every line of your body, the feel of your skin, like heaven.” 😭🥺🥰💕Ben is such a sweetie

I had a feeling Glen was going to kidnap her but ughhhh

“They drive like Josie” omgggggg!!!!!
So much has happened omg I am moving through this bookkkkk

“Your alpha is going to hold you tight and stroke that sweet pussy, so you relax. And before you know it, we’ll be there.” Oh shiiiitttt 🥵🥵

“Be free of him and live.” Oh my god!!!!!

Screamingggg Josie fell asleep sucking Ben’s dick omg

“Now, pet, you run and hide and hope the monster doesn’t find you,” AHHHHNXJXNSKXNXNDK

“Patience is not my strong suit,” I grumbled.

Theo snorted. “I think we got that message loud and clear when we tried edging you and you threatened to castrate us.” LOL

I loved that one also!!! This was such a good series and I think there’s a third one that tells the story of one of Josie’s friends!

This was such a great ending to the series. I loved getting to see Josie and her men grow their relationship even when it was constantly being bombarded with the $hit$how that was the government in the book. I loved seeing Josie grow into herself and stand up for what she wanted and needed. I'm also glad that she was okay with not wanting to be a bada$$ (her words). I think overall this was a great omegaverse series and I am so glad I read it.

I will say I do think that these books are longer than they need to be.

Right when I thought Josie can finally be happy with her pack of alphas, Glen separates them and plants another device in her arm! Who I didn’t see coming was Genevieve! I’m so glad her and Josie worked together to escape but also unalived Glen for her “Be free of him and live” the escape and revenge was so action packed! Still not happy about Josie’s mom and the nerve of her to ask Josie for help! But the ending was cute and happy that Josie can finally live at peace and happy with her alphas

This review is based off of receiving an ARC copy:

I cannot stop talking about these books by Emilia Emerson! Not only does she have a way with storytelling, but her characters are some of the most real people on paper. It's so refreshing to see male characters embrace their emotions and deal with trauma in a masculine toxic environment. Part two of Forbidden was just as amazing as the first and I have a horrid book hangover from their story! Part two had me laughing hysterically and crying in others (I even had to put it down to deal with my emotions!). The communication between Pack Ashwood is amazing and the love each pack member has for each other is one to envy. I absolutely adored this series and 100% plan on revisiting it again. I will read anything Emilia puts out and I look forward to her career!

This one had more going on in terms of plot and got intense at some points but there was more occurring than just the people in the relationship trying to work out their lives together. Love the fated mates trope of this duet, enjoyable read and it was hard to put it down at some point. Really enjoyed the chemistry between the fmc and the three mmcs as well as the relationship the three mmcs had with each other.

Whew! Holy shit, this had me on the edge of my seat for like 3/4 of the book. The story combined a ton of drama, suspense, and a whole lot of dick. It is an Omegaverse after all. It's almost 500 pages (on Kindle anyway) and I finished it in a little under a day. I will definitely be reading Westin's standalone book, which is already out!
Things have really ramped up with the control and regulations that the current reigning government administration is attempting to force Omegas and Alphas to comply to. Josie and her alphas are separated multiple times and during some parts, none of them are sure that they'll see the others ever again. Seriously, the suspense is crazy high. Josie is a serious badass and makes leaps and bounds in terms of progress for the Alliance who is working to overthrow those in charge of the current government. It's a roller coaster of emotions, and Josie is forced to relive a lot of parts of her past trauma ... again. It was incredibly gut wrenching and as was the last book, very descriptive, so make sure that you read the trigger warnings in case there's something you don't think you can handle.
As is promised in the Amazon summary, Josie and her alphas get their HEA. Thank goodness - they've been through enough to last several lifetimes. As this book wraps up, the thing that I felt was missing from the storyline was updates on everyone else that was part of the Alliance. Like, what happened to Sam & Gerald, Poppy and her pack, Lilah & her pack (though we get a small glimpse of Lilah's life), and Amirah and her pack? It's just kind of reported that the government was overthrown and we see some of the changes that occur for Omegas; but that's the entire description that we get. I get the feeling that Josie and her pack aren't part of the many changes that are taking place. But seeing as how they were involved with the mission to free Omegas and had been a major part of the Alliance for a long time (the alphas at least) you would think they would want to be involved in assisting with decisions regarding the new structure of things or at least get updates or something! I just felt like there were a lot of holes and not everything had a resolution to it.
Regardless of that rather large complaint or issue with things, I still loved this book and would definitely recommend the series to anyone who likes high drama/suspense Omegaverse books with a lot of action.

The spice in this is solid, and just a little bit kinky. It's not any crazy kind of kink, just some spanking, light dominating, and chasing that features lowkey consensual non-consent. All the scenes include frequent check-ins. Overall, I would say this book is 4/5 on the spice scale; that I have made up, is only in my head, and I don't have hard and true criteria that I stick to. Josie has scenes with each of the guys and there are also multiple group scenes. Josie also goes through another heat, but without suppressants this time. And damn. Really ramps up the spice at the end of the book. As amazing as all the sex this group has once reunited, the timing of when they decide to get freaky could use some tweaking. Like ... their rebel alliance (hahaha, sounded like Star Wars) is planning on overthrowing the government in the next several days, but they all escape to a cabin in the woods to bang each others brains out and bond with one another. It just feels like they should have been with the rest of the group and focusing on the rescue of the other Omegas, instead of having an all out orgy. They really just get down and dirty whenever the mood strikes them, and it was so often I was starting to see how an Omega might be a distraction to the general public. Or at least an Omega who is bonded and out and about with their alphas, who really seem to not be able to control themselves. Everyone is always horny! I'm not really complaining though, it makes for a good and smutty book.

4.25/5 ⭐️

This was an absolutely beautiful ending to this duology. All major loose ends were tied up in a satisfactory manner and justice was served. After a pretty bad cliffhanger, I was nervous about how bad things would turn and how dark things would get before we would get the HEA Pack Ashwood and Josie deserved.

There were some dark moments, so uncertainty about how everything would turn out, but there was so much light too. So many cosy moments, so much friendship and love between characters. I really appreciated that there were so many strong female characters, and so much friendship between packs no matter the designation. I loved how the different mental health issues were tackled, and as someone who has struggled with many of the issues and themes presented in this book, I thought it was all written and handled beautifully. The author works with mental health and that shows in the best way.

Pack Ashwood still has my love. I love a Why Choose with three guys. It's the perfect amount and everyone gets enough time on page to really form a connection. Ben especially has my heart. My little wonderful baking golden retriever. 🥹

Josie had a wonderful character arc. In book one she still struggles a lot with accepting kindness and love since she never experienced much of it. Here, she really finds her strength and is a badass, in a very believable way (yay for not suddenly being an expert marksman!!).

The duology as a whole is a new favourite, and gets a solid 5⭐️. I was left with some minor questions after book two, and almost wished the justice would have been even more bloody or brutal, but that might just be the bloodthirsty bitch in me talking. I loved the whole "3 months after part", it was the perfect cosy and spicy ending Pack Ashwood deserved after everything.

I recommend this to everyone who loves omegaverse, as I really think this is a very interesting mix of a dark and sweet omegaverse, and I never knew I wanted and needed just that.
