Emery Parker can hardly believe her luck. She’s landed the museum internship of her working with a collection of ancient Scottish swords. But when she finds herself locked in a stone room of weapons that look brand new, she demands to know what kind of game is being played.
Laird Luthias MacRoss has never believed the legend of the Fire Sword. But the appearance of a young lass in his armory changes his mind. Not only does she possess the delicate beauty of the Fae, she holds their sword in her hand.
But as her purpose slowly becomes clear and their torrid attraction blossoms, Luthias finds he must choose between his heart and the good of his clan.
Hazel and her husband stopped being separate people years ago. They live their happy life in the always crowded, mostly sunny, and sometimes sweltering city of LA. Though they haven’t managed it yet, plans are afoot to add a kitty to the household, thereby giving the allergist fits.
Hazel has been writing full-time for several years, with some traditionally published work in other genres. But it’s her indie-published romance that fuels the creative fire. It turns out writing isn’t a job, it’s an obsession.
When you can pry Hazel’s fingers from the laptop, you’ll find her: on the elliptical watching a documentary, indulging her audiobook habit, or spending quality time with Candy Crush. Although she’s vegan, she’s a disaster in the kitchen. Luckily, potato chips and pinot noir come ready-made.
I liked the premise. However, it was slowly paced, had many characters and the mcs couldn’t keep my interest. I may haven’t read a plethora of hr books but there were elements that I didn’t understand and had a hard time.
I am so excited to have a new Immortal Highlander series to read and this one does not disappoint. So many twists and turns to keep you reading and it was difficult to put down. I look forward to meeting more of the men in Clan MacRoss and their women.
Luthias was a Highlander warrior and Emery Parker was a woman from the future. When their paths crossed it bounded them together with a tie that could not be broken.
Emery was sent to save the MacRoss clan but she nor Luthias didn’t know how a wee female from the future could possibly save a mighty clan who had endured so much.
During the process Emery realized she had fallen in love but how could this be when Luthias was from the past. While there Emery stumbles across the reason she’s to save the MacRoss from the Carrack clan. The woman the Carrack laird loves ran away and ended up on MacRoss land and later was discovered murdered there. It looked as if the MacRoss did it to get back at the Carrack laird who in turn plots and kidnaps Emery. While held at the Carrack’s, Emery who is a forensic investigator examines the body and discovered foul play.
She convinces the Carrack laird of this and the go back to MacRoss land and meets up with Luthias then they go make their discovery in the barn. However before the investigation is complete and the culprit is found, they are dropped into a well, the barn catches fire, and in order to save Emery the Carrack laird sacrifices himself and saves her and the MacRoss laird who delivers the Carrack laird back to the Carracks.
It doesn’t end there. Later at the MacRosses, Emery thinks they are about to send her back to the future but Luthias tells her she has one wish to seal her fate. Emery wishes to remain with Luthias forever so the Fire Sword that transported her there now keeps her there in the Ninth Century and she becomes immortal.
I’m looking forward to reading the next book to see if they mention them and to find out what happens in the storyline with the others.
Luthias Immortal Highlander Clan MacRoss Book 1 Hazel Hunter ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Emery Parker can hardly believe it. She has landed the museum internship of her dreams. She'll be working with a collection of ancient Scottish swords. But after trying to stop, a would-be theft of one of the swords she finds herself locked in a stone room of weapons that look like they are new. Now she needs to know what kind of game is being played on her and why?
Laird Luthias MacRoss has never believed in the legend of the Fire Sword. But after the sudden appearance of a young lass in his armory, he changes his mind. You see, not only does she have the delicate beauty of the Fae, she holds their missing sword in her hands.
But as time goes by and her purpose for being there slowly becomes clear, Luthias finds he must now choose between his heart and the good of his clan.
Oh wow, this book is fantastic. This is Hazel Hunter at her best. From the moment I opened the book and started reading, it was all I could think about. This book consumed me. I never knew knew what was going to happen next. There were so many odd twists, and turns along the way, that I was never bored. Luthius was absolutely sexy, immortal, and commanding all at the same time, while Emery may have been tiny and looked delicate, but she was a true fire cracker. She never backed down from anything even when her fear almost overtook her. All in all, I immensely enjoyed this book and would definitely recommend it to my fellow immortal highlander fans and anyone who loves a good time travel. Ms. Hunter, you did a wonderful job with this book, and I can't wait for the next one.
I voluntarily reviewed a copy of "LUTHIAS" I was totally hooked from the start you get to know what's going on with characters so you know what to expect with other stories in this series that will be coming. Emery Parker gets a job at Pelton Medieval Museum in New Hampshire she gets asigned to Arms & Armor Dept the director tells her Bill Buchanan assistant curator is her supervisor, she loves all the Scottish weapons. Luthias MacRoss is a Scottish Highlander from 700yrs in the past he meets Emery when travels through time with the Fire Sword the one that brings it to his time is to save the MacRoss Clan, he takes her to his chambers after she passes out. I definitely recommend to get this amazing new series so well written with awesome characters that pull you right into all the chaos, Luthias & Emery take you on an exciting journey attracted to one another but not sure if she'll return to her own time resist the pull to each other, will they get a HEA in the end you must get this book. I'm so looking forward to the next book in this New Highlander Series it can't come soon enough. AWESOME AWESOME READ!!!!!!
This is classic Hazel Hunter, absolutely an amazing story! Keeping you wondering who’s behind the evil things happening while spinning a tale of mystery, romance and love. What an intriguing new series. Emery works at a museum and specializes in ancient weaponry and bone studies. After overhearing something she shouldn’t on her first day she finds herself transported back to medieval Scotland. When she meets Luthias, he knows something strange has happened but can’t quite figure it out at first. I love, love, loved Emery’s personality. She’s charming, smart, and clever. Her way of speaking was funny and disarming to the hardened Highlanders she meets. Luthias is sweet, sexy and commanding. He’s also hiding secrets he doesn’t want Emery to know. As these two unravel the reason she’s been transported to his time, their feelings deepen. This book is a mystery mixed in with a wonderful yet possibly tragic romance. To find out what happens to Emery and Luthias, you need to read this book!
This the first book of a new series. Emery Parker is working as an intern in a museum. Emery loves weapons form the 14th century Scotland. Emery overhears a conversation involving her supervisor, with a buyer on the telephone. She wants to get a chance to look at the unusual sword. Emery goes in search of the sword. She is locked in a cabinet, and cannot get out. Emery time travels to Scotland in the 14th century. There she meets Laird Lucas of the can MacRoss, she is holding the Fire Sword. Emery has to adjust to this time period. She learns about the legend of the Fire Sword. She was brought back to save the clan. Emery has no idea on how she will save the clan. This book has romance, fae magic, highlanders, and adventure. This is a great beginning to a new series. You need to read this book!!!!
What a great start to a new Highland series. Emery is certainly a modern woman, but when she travels back in time by holding a ‘fire sword’ she doesn’t believe it at first. Luthias and his fellow immortals have all heard the tale of the fire sword bringing them someone to help in their time of need, therefore they are not as disbelieving as you might think. Emery’s reaction to 14th century Scotland is delightful and she ‘helps’ them in more ways than they expect. I loved the way Luthias and Emery’s attraction develops. This book held my interest from the very beginning and I found it difficult to put down. I am looking forward to the next story. Give this series a chance! I received an ARC copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
No one does highlanders and time travel like Hazel Hunter. New series with a twist. There’s more going on than what shows up. When Emery prevent the theft of a sword in the present time, she’s sent back in time to the MacRoss clan. Her mission is to save the clan but Luthias, the laird is also in need of saving. Love the characters. I really like that when Emery comes back she isn’t ‘worthless’. Her skills and knowledge are critical to the HEA. I did think she was a little silly by running off when she should have stayed put but since no one told her anything and she always managed to turn every potential problem into a win, it all ended up great. Eagerly looking forward to the rest of the series.
In "Luthias," the first installment of the Immortal Highlander Clan MacRoss series penned by the talented Hazel Hunter, the realms of time and love collide in a narrative brimming with unexpected twists and a passion that transcends centuries.
Hazel Hunter demonstrates her mastery of the Immortal Highlander time travel genre. Her ability to weave a captivating story, imbued with strong character development, unexpected twists, and a passionate romance, is a testament to her skill as a writer. As readers reach the final pages, they will undoubtedly be eager to embark on the next adventure in the series, unable to resist the allure of Hazel Hunter's enchanting world of Immortal Highlanders.
Emery has just got her dream job in a museum and is starting her first day of work. When she overhears her new boss plotting something devious with regards an ancient weapon, she immediately knows what she has to do. However, she soon discovers no good deed goes unpunished…next thing she knows she’s being told she’s in Scotland…in the fourteenth century😳
A great start to this new series and I really enjoyed all the characters and getting to know Clan MacRoss❣️I’m excited for the next book in this series. I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️
When I saw the title of this book, I was ecstatic. I have been waiting a long time for Ms Hunter to write more Immortal Highlander stories. Ms Hunter, again did not disappoint.. The characters and story line were exceptionally well written with intrigue, romance and of course Ms Hunter always gives you just enough steam and suspense to keep you turning pages. I love Luthias and Emery, they were meant to be together if they could overcome their attraction and the danger coming their way. I can't wait to read the next installment.
Such a great start to a new series! I love that the wonderful Hazel Hunter can still keep us guessing and fall in love with some hunky highlanders. I also feel like her characters are relatable. Emery felt like the most realistic of her heroines so far though. She didn’t immediately acclimate to her new reality. She came in acting like a complete know it all that we KNOW we would be acting like if it were us. Yet she was completely lovable. Definitely worth the read and I can’t wait until the next one!
I was on the fence about this one before starting to read, I was afraid it would be a bit stale as I've been reading her highlander series for a good while now. I am delighted to have been proved wrong, the MacRoss clan is not at like the other clans in prior series. Emery really was a fantastic character to start this series off. Fast paced, with a great attention to detail this is a beautiful read.
This Was One Of The Best Time Travels I've Read in A Long Time
This story was wonderful. The world building great. The characters I fell in love with. The most important thing it was believable lol I highly recommend this book and I can't wait to continue reading the next in this series.
Highly Recommended Perfectly Steamy with Adult scenes No whining females 😀 Strong Female lead Loved it!!!!
Great series. Entertaining and engrossing. It's the stories of several immortal clan brothers and future ladies that come to save the clan , and themselves via a magical sword. Each story has a different threat to the clan and a couple very evil villains. The characters had me either rooting for them or dying to figure out who was causing all the mischief. I loved the plots and the characters. There is some great humor too.
This is an engaging and entertaining story. An internship at the museum seems like a dream come true for Emery. However a series of events sweep her into the past. Luthias the leader of his clan, is leery, intrigued and beguiled by Emery, bound to protect her. H.H creates a story full of intrigue, mystery, twists, danger and romance. I look forward to the next book in this series.
3 1/2 stars. A bit of a slow beginning but a very strong ending that pulled me in and kept me up late to finish. I liked all the characters. I didn't really feel the connection between the main pair, but I bought that it was there. The plot really sped up at the end and made the book exciting.
I really wanted to like this book. The story had promise, but left me wanting more. I couldn’t really connect with the characters, they seemed shallow. At times the story just got boring and seemed too wordy. Although I finished book 1, I won’t be reading the series.
Ms. Hunter is back and continuing to do what she does best ... highlanders, strong females and fantastic storylines!!! Well-written with well-developed characters, Luthias and Emery start off this new series with a fantastic story! Definitely recommend this book and this author!
Hazel continues to take us back in time when life was simpler. Or is it? Emery Parker is about to find out when the sword she trying to save from a thief, transports her back in time to the 14th century. Can she save the clan per the legend?
So glad to see the author return to the Immortal Highlanders! As always, great world-building and characters, and delicious, steamy romance. I loved it and I want more, More, MORE! (Please.)
I received a free copy from the author and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
What can I say? Ms. Hunter has once again given us one heck of a story to start what looks to be a terrific new series! I loved the characters and the entire storyline. I received an Advance Reader's Copy of this book which I am voluntarily reviewing
I love time travel books and highlanders. This story about Emery and Luthias was great. I was always surprised by what happened next and was never disappointed. This is a wonderful story with a great storyline and amazing characters that are easy to love. I Loved It!!! Great Read! No Spoilers!
This was a story that caught you from the beginning and carried you to the end in a whirlwind. Characters were so wonderfully developed and described, I could see them in my mind as if they stood before me. If you like Scottish time gravel, you'll love it too!
Wonderful immortal time traveler romance. Two great clans with memorable characters in a quickly woven history of clashing, with twists and turns, strong women, and an ongoing mystery. Good tension and just enough spice.
Emery is intelligent and a bit quirky. Her trip to the past leads her on quite the adventure. I am still shuddering thinking about the gibbeting cage. Loved the ending!
Great start to a new series. Great writing. Love the Scottish setting. Keeps you guessing as to what is happening. Will be reading more from this author.
