Again, the main story felt short with Jek and Brynda because of the interweaving stories. And of course we still don't know what happened with Jana and Dani. I did like the mention of the Dementia world.

Very good in the continuation of the Trek series. Not required but I recommend reading them in order.

The main story is about Jek and Brynda, but several side stories are happening which will be continued in the next books. In this story, Jek finds his Sacred Mate Brynda who is a librarian in Texas. She has cancer and expects to die within the year. Jek takes her and they visit two planets on their way to his home. They visit Wassa where men have gills and live both underwater and above water. All females are slaves to the men on this planet. They next visit Dementia, where the men look like ape men from the movie Planet of the Apes. Brynda gets caught by the predatory vine which injects an aphrodisiac into her and drinks her fluids.

Data:
Sexual language: erotic. Number of sex scenes: twelve plus. Setting: 6049 Red Moon of Morak and 1986 Houston, Texas. Copyright: 2001. Genre: erotic paranormal science fiction romance.

This story is also published in the anthology Conquest (Trek Mi Q’an #4 & #5).

Jek has been sent to find 2 princesses who have disappeared. A stop on Earth brings him in contact with the woman meant to be his Sacred Mate. Brynda is a librarian with terminal cancer but this doesn't stop him from kidnapping her. But as he is telling her about their customs, the ship is commanded to explore 3 outlying worlds for the missing princesses. So begins their adventures into some weird worlds. Again this books follows multiple plot lines, though Jek and Brynda are the main ones. And frustratingly everything is left hanging. Not going any further with this series.

The story of Brynda and Jek was a good one. I like it because it had a bit more world building in it. They travel to different places and encounter lots of different races. I also liked that Brynda was terminally ill so she embraced the experience rather than all previous storylines which are all about the woman resisting the situation. Of course it's a HEA ending and there are multiple side stories which are all good. I would say that after the first book, this one is my second favourite.

Short transition book

This book was shockingly nice, especially considering how Jek described himeself, he's been the best most accommodating Warrior thus far! His and Brynda's story was short and sweet, introducing us to new characters and future storylines. I'm getting really pissed with the Q'an Tal brothers, but it seems the wives are doing what they need. As a side note, may Earth never get plant such as those on Dementia, LOL!!!

5 Stars !

I love this book . I love the whole series . They can be read as standalones but better if read in order to understand the background storyline and histories . For adults only due to sexual content ! I can't wait to read more from Jaid Black .

I enjoyed Jek and Brn's story but felt the ending was a little rushed and seemed too sudden.

This may be my favourite book in this series. The hero and heroine are generally very kind and considerate of each other, right from the start, and as a result, there is little conflict between them. Brynda is presented as intelligent, courageous, and inquisitive. As with her illness, she accepts what life throws at her and tries to make the best of any situation. Rather than fighting her new status as a Sacred Mate, Brynda accepts Jek and his professed love for her. Jek is a perfect alpha male - protective, possessive, brave, strong, intelligent, considerate and devoted to his mate. He informs Brynda that he's trying to be a 'gentleman' - a word that nicely describes his behaviour towards her.

In this book, the plot advances as we learn that the other Sacred Mates are, once again, planning on "subverting the dominant paradigm", that Dari and Mari are closing in on the planet Khan-Gor, and that Zara and Zora may have met their future mates. Overall a very enjoyable read.

This is the story of Jek and Brynda and how they try to find Kari and Dari. Jek is only described in some parts in the previous series, and I'm surprised that he have a story. Brynda, is just a simple librarian who's life is ticking.

Their adventures are fun to say the least. Brynda is not the usual screaming character (well except for the first parts). When Jek tells her about the Sacred Mate, etc. she easily believes him, without having the readers read again the laws of Trek. They also describes the planet Dementia, where the guys look like gorillas and the female are as usual on Jaid Black stories, sex slaves. I can't really feel the character development between the pair, they just fall in love as with sacred mates. I wish Jek would be tougher than he is described.

There is also the story of Zora and Zara, twins of Zor and Kyra, And the snippets of their respective love story.

Actually I’m waiting for the story of Death and Kari but Jek comes first. The timeline in this book is almost parallel with the previous book, and the story begins more exciting. Although I’m not really a fan of hero and heroine in this book, but it is quite entertaining. Again, the author gives explicit description about women degradation (read: slavery) that occurred in the 3rd dimension (which far less advanced compared the Trek Mi Q’an galaxy but more advanced than earth). But I like the touching scenes where the heroine convinced herself that she is gonna be die from cancer but alas, she is cured. It brings a bit of emotion in the book, otherwise it will only a repetitive of the other novellas of this series (as this one also short on pages).

Brynda was sick or dying I should say until she is taken by her true mate, Jek. Her sickness was advanced, but when she is taken by Jek, she is healed and is worried about where she is. This situation leads to an interesting read. I always love when I'm reading this series and when the men uses the necklace to communicate to their mates once they are captured. Once the necklace is around their mate's neck, they are mated for life and they are unable to take it off. This was a good read and I loved it and the series.

Jek is once again off to find Dari and the woman helping her Kari when he discovers his own mate, brynda a mousy librarian. Once he gets her they go from odd planet to planet looking for his neice and giving brynda awesome experiences. Glad that Jek finally got his mate. Hate that this is such a cliff hanger and from years ago!! I read on her website that more will come out this year, but I am anxious. Whats going on with Jana? What about Kyra's sister? What about all the queens off on their own? What about Dari??? Come on!!

Stars: 3.5

Overall: So i really enjoyed the adventure and the action, i feel like i was short changed on the romance part. I wish the author would've spent the more time writing about them getting to know each other. Keep the sex, just please add a little more talking. lol If i could identify with any of the female characters it would have to be Brynda. She was a wonderful character to read about and it would be so much fun to be able to read more about her in future books.

Characters: Brynda & Jek

Series Cont: Yes!

Zipping along through the Trek Mi Q'an universe. Here, Jek finds his Sacred Mate in Brynda, a human model, Librarian circa 1986, complete with power suit, glasses, and the pursuit of a post-grad degree in psychology. I sort of pictured her as Melanie Griffith in "Working Girl." Again, author Black's humor is apparent throughout, and we also get a sneak peak into the planet Dementia, and a foretaste of what is to come in the next installment.

I loved how the heroine after she was told why Jek took her, was accepting and said okay thanks for telling me. I loved how after the first few days she enjoyed as much as she could and thought it was hysterical how she was constantly taking pictures of strange and unusual things (for her) including her husband's nude body. Jek was so serious until she came around. Great book. I think this is my favorite from this author of this series.

As with the other books in the series this one also wasn't lacking in the sex department and there was also adventuring as well. After Jek claims Brynda then end up on a plant of fish type people and then onto a planet of the apes kind of place. One thing about this one is it seemed to have more humor and the Sacred Mates getting along better with very little drama. We get some more of what is going on with Dani and Kari; and some story lines are started about Zara and Zora.

another great addition!

I am so loving this series and devouring it too quickly :) I love that the women are strong women and don't take crap from their men, but the do love fiercely! I am so glad that Jek found a mate and I am interested about Dementia. I look forward to reading more!!

Short and, as usual, bizarre, and not in a titillating way. But good, I guess, if one is following the series.

First read it a long, long time ago--way before I started making records. And Goodreads thought I should reread this story by re-shelving it for me?

This one was pretty cute. You really got the feeling of love in this one. And it was a nice change of pace for the bride to be to want to be a bride.
