OH MY, A very erotic 'Beauty' and Gaston retelling only with WLW characters. Kindle Unlimited.
Raelle is stuck looking after her alcoholic, no good, father - selling roses and reading books to escape her life. Local huntress, Madison, wants to make the bookish beauty her own - but comes off a bit of a brutish rogue - but shes far more than initially meets the eye.
When Raelle's father goes missing, Madison steps up to rescue him - and more starts to simmer between the women as drama and eroticism ensues.
4 stars. A sapphic Beauty and the Beast retelling only Belle falls for Gaston. Yep. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Raelle and Madison were both great characters and I loved how devoted Madison was to getting Raelle by any means necessary. They had great chemistry and the smut was on point. Madison is swoon worthy as well. She’s protective and confident and just had this sexy swagger to her. The only real downside I had was that the writing needed to be polished up a bit more. It was repetitive at moments as well but those things aside I had such a great time reading this. It’s romantic and sexy as hell.
A sapphic fairytale retelling novella that definitely worth reading. This is one of those books where you have so many questions yet do not care and just enjoy the story!!
A very good short story to read. I enjoyed it very much. The characters were good, I kind of got lost at the whole “secret mansion, beast part” wondering where did it disappear to? Hoping there was more action in the book as well as more of a backstory on Maddison. Raelle is a hopeless young woman lost in this world after her mother died she was left to take care of her alcoh0lic abus!v3 father. Raelle keeps to herself and is OBSESSED with books, but she has a secret….she has been lusting over an old friend but she can’t give into her desires. Maddison has known all her life that Raelle was made for her and WILL be hers, no matter what it takes! Will Maddison’s efforts be enough to win over Raelles heart? Or is her love only reserved for books? ….Read to find out!!!
Beauty and the beast retelling? No. Belle and Gaston retelling (both as women) Yes.
60% to end is sex with a stupid fmc. No plot at all so don't go looking for it. A few spelling and poorly written parts in this book too that might need editing. I wipe the back of my forehead with my arm. - Page 1.
--- Madison is essentially Gaston. She asks Raelle out (like twice in the book but apparently it's every time she sees her). She's a hunter (never see this). She owns a bar. BUT if anything, this woman was nothing like him.
- She brought Raelle a book that she's been eyeing up for an entire month just because she saw her wanting it but unable to afford it. - She brought Raelle roses because they're her favourite flower and because she's longed for someone to buy her flowers. - She buys her an entire box of cupcakes because she accidentally knocked one from Raelle's hand. - She designed her entire house just to make Raelle happy (including building her a library).
If that's not romantic then idk what is. The only parts I didn't like about M was when R runs into the bar crying about her father in trouble and she's like "I'll do it for a date" - a little blackmail if you ask me. The other part was that from the date until the end, there is no romantic gestures. It's just fingering R or "eating her out" 24/7.
--- Raelle is the fmc that pissed me off the most. She starts off as someone who literally cannot put a book down for 2 minutes. That part is more than okay because that's literally Belle. But then her character just gets worse as the story goes on.
- She claims that Madison hates when she reads even though M never says this, M buys her books, M builds a library in her house for her, etc.
- M designed her entire house for R seven years ago (idk why this was oddly specific for R to mention) but R is pissed off because they weren't together then and she thinks she designed it for someone else!! 2 pages before this she was like "I won't be a trophy wife.
- The entire book Raelle's like "I want her but I can't." The reason? As kids M mentioned once that she wanted a pretty woman on her arm. WHEN THEY WERE KIDS! We're never given the characters age but grow the fuck up.
--- Trophy wife drama:
Madison asks why Raelle has rejected her all of these years so R stays quiet because she's overthinking about her dad being a secret drunk?! Completely not related at all.
M eats her out AGAIN.
The next morning M asks again only to do sexual stuff to her as she gets a response. "Because I won’t be controlled. I won’t be a trophy wife for you or anyone else. I won’t be held back by someone else.”
M replies: “Now, as for a trophy wife, well, I won’t say I wouldn’t brag that you are mine. That you’re my wife. Don’t get me twisted, I would shout it to the fucking world. YOU ARE MINE, Raelle.”
--- Plot parts that pissed me off:
1) When M finds the house in the woods, she leaves R with her father and a couple of M's "men". She goes to find the beast in the house before attacking it for like a page or two before she tells her men to take care of it because she wants to make R hers. - It was too rushed and for someone who was so romantic for her it's suddenly gone??
2) Raelle's father is supposed to be a drunk but he can ride a motorbike and drive a truck through the woods perfectly okay without crashing or a single scratch on him. Apart from asking for a beer once, we don't even see him drinking at all because he's in the garage working on his truck and the goods he's selling.
3) Raelle's father steals from Madison so M is banging the door down early in the morning to see if he's home (he's not). So R is like "he's probably selling it by now in the next town we gotta be quick." No no no. You know what these women do? They go upstairs and make out. Considering like one page ago Madison was pissed that her priceless gun had been stolen!!
--- Overall, R pissed me off too much. M deserved better. The writing was a little irritating but overall not the worst book I've read.
A Beauty and the Beast retelling that I read in one afternoon. Browning managed to pull me in and keep me there, even with some of the issues I had with it. The story was told in a dual POV, first person, which was fine for me, but there was nothing distinctive between either voices, both MCs sounding like they were the same person. I'm sure this was a butch/femme erotica, contrary to the slim to nil description of Madison, the huntress. The writing, I feel, needs to be tightened up. Zero contractions throughout, weirdly, given it was told in first person. I also felt at times I was reading an historical, and other times, I was set in today's day and age. My opinion was wishy-washy the entire time, but I kept reading and I didn't hate it. So, take that as you will.
This was an enjoyable retelling of a classic fairy tale with women as both main characters. I loved getting to go on the adventurous ride with women as both the hero and the damsel in distress! Raelle is a sweet gardener who loves her books and is plagued by her father’s drinking and abusive behavior. Madison is a wealthy business owner who has been in love with sweet Raelle since they were children. Will Madison save Raelle from the darkness and win her love? You’ll have to read to find out!
This retelling of Belle & Gaston is a very sweet story with a dash of darkness. The amount of spice is just the right amount as to not overshadow the sweetness. Raelle is sweet and always has a book, and Madison is the perfect feminine hunter to know she is portraying Gastons character but is also surprising in a good way. I loved reading Madison's POV and Raelle's reactions to her when the POV switched back.
Totally enjoyed this amazing book 📙, portrait so deliciously from the story that we know off. Well done and looking forward to more steamy and exciting storylines. A must read for anytime relaxation.
Wow fantastic twist on this storyline I loved how you retold this story it flowed perfectly I couldn't put it down definitely worth reading congratulations
Demands was a great sapphic retelling. This book is a sexy retelling of a classic favorite of mine so needless to say it drew me in fast. The kid in me wishes it was longer with more details lol... I couldn't put it down. I can't wait to read the rest of the books in this series.
This book was good! I really did enjoy it. I love the Beauty and the Beast retelling, and I ADORE the WLW aspect as well. This book follows Madison, a strong hunter, and Raelle, a book-loving seller of roses who lives with her drunkard father. Raelle fights and denies the attraction between her and Madison, because she "refuses to be a trophy wife". My favorite thing about this book was how it would be in Madison's POV, and switch to Raelle's POV to show her reaction to the things Madison said and did. This book is one you've gotta read to experience the romance and spice unfolding between Raelle and Madison.
