The Wolf's Witch

Rate this book
It’s just a scratch – a scratch that transforms the witch forever.

Already a witch at breaking point, I really can’t be dealing with the latest scandal affecting my life. I’m busy selling spells from my shop when my brother accidently almost kills a werewolf, attracting the wrath of my enemy, the Brighton Pack alpha, Malone. His attack leaves me with a scratch that turns me into the first ever hybrid-witch and solidifies my expulsion from the coven, leaving me all alone. I’m not sure how much more I can take.

When Malone smells his toxins in me, he vows to help me through the first shift. As alpha, his responsibility is to his pack and turning a witch is against sacred wolf laws. His pack will disown him if he doesn’t get rid of me. He’s ready to rectify his wrong, threatening to end my life, until I shift and the mating bond is evoked.

Can Malone reject the forbidden pull towards me in order to keep his pack? Or will I be able to escape before he claims me and jeopardises his position as alpha?

I pretty much hated all the characters. All of them. The supporting cast was 2-dimensional and dumb - grrr rawr, kill all witches. Then you have the petty bitch female shapeshifter the alpha has slept with before, because of course you do. The witches were all awful. The shapeshifters were all awful. The best thing that could happen would be a plague that specifically targets their species, wiping them all out, because they suck.

We meet a random maybe nice dude who is apparently (?) a rapist... in a turn that literally came out of left field.

But the king of the awful heap is the lead characters.

He's a flat boring snarly dickhead. He's a complete shit to her, wildly overreacting to everything and making a giant mess. And yet he agrees that though she did nothing wrong, the best thing is to kill her. His pack wants that, he thinks he should do that. He says it repeatedly. Of course, first they want her to do some magic healing... they'll kill her after, though.

Seriously, fuck these people.

He is hot and cold in the worst whiplash fashion, and nothing about it was compelling to me.

And she just rolls with it all. She suffers from a horrible combo of spineless doormat and "it's okay because he's hot" syndrome. She can't hurl his douchebag body out a window with her magic, because her ovaries rule all thoughts and actions. He treats her like trash, everyone treats her like trash, she is a constant victim. Oh well, who cares.

Bleh.

People were saying this is a forgettable, bad werewolf book but I'm out here saying WHERE ??? We got some interesting plot, the characters are decent, it's got the push and pull of forbidden mates and rejected mates, and it's got a super emo heroine ??? ITS A WINNER TO ME BABYYY

ok maybe I'm liking it cuz we got DESI rep in a paranormal romance book. Yes he's there for like 2 sentences, yes he's a witch doctor, yes he's actually Pakistani but I understand Urdu but not enough to speak it since it wasn't my primary language growing up so it's close enough !!! (man I really do be clinging to the tiniest dregs of inclusivity, it's so pathetic)

Actually tho I like the emphasis on mental health. Like, our heroine DELLA is completely messed up mentally. Her brother DRAKE is neurodivergent and has ISSUES. Everyone around her (the coven, the wolves) are so unsympathetic to his situation and alienate the siblings. Hell, the brother has a bounty on his head.

The worst chapter I have read in my life had to be the hero's, MALONE. It was bland. It was tasteless. It was like eating pizza without sauce or cheese. It was like Yankee with No Brim (SHOUT OUT TO SHAKESPEARE AT THE PARK FROM LAST WEEKEND!! I didn't go but I saw the infamous Yankee with no Brim during the surfer dude rendition of Romeo and Juliet from second hand sources). It was like a lukewarm glass of water. It was like eating soggy cereal. Like oatmeal on it's own. The pack absolutely despises this man, they don't respect him at all, and the comments made by adult wolves were so JUVENILE. Yeah, I sound pretty juvenile myself but it's 2 am and I've been up since 7 am yesterday so give me a break. Yes, I get it, that scene was supposed to show how little everyone respected Malone. But I don't understand how these wolves are so fearsome and have all this hierarchal BS if their formal meetings look like a high school class president trying to hold court during the 3rd lunch period.

Let's talk about our homegirl Della for a minute though. She's a witch, she makes love potions, and she takes care of her brother who's the "disturbed artist" trope. Can't even be mad about that because from my experience (as an artist, as an art student, as someone who's friends are all mentally ill and artists), the author ain't wrong 😔 Della loves Drake and would die for him, even get turned into a werewolf for him. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️ What a star ⭐ and she also has never had an 0rgasm, as tells Malone in her delirium. She is also very depressed, has PTSD from her traumatic childhood, and has some of the worst self esteem ever. She's relatable! She's also now eager to live, and that's what I appreciated the most. I am excited to read about what happens to her.

Malone though ..... he seems weak asf. #NotMyAlpha !! I don't mind when men are the weaker ones but if he's an ALPHA then he better not me wimpy,,,,and if he is, then I hope Della takes over his pack to protect him!!!! That I will accept.

I am passing out.

It’s a quick read. I’m conflicted again. Seems like everything I pick up is causing me to be confused and conflicted on it. I wanted to like this story but I was so frustrated with our hero Alpha Wolf and the rejection over and over to our witch who becomes a hybrid witch. Are which had moments of standing up for herself but they were few and far between mostly she feels let down and defeated. Both the witch coven and the Wolfpack don’t like that there’s a hybrid. in their laws it means death.

Another kindle unlimited shifter book down.

description

I don't know what it was about this one I didn't like. And it wasn't necessarily that I didn't like it. I just don't think I am going to read anymore of the series. I wasn't attached to any of the characters. The plot was okay. It seems almost like a blur in my mind now. Nothing wrong with it, just not my thing.

Extremely quick read, entirely because the characters lack any dimension and the plot is missing pretty much all substance.

There’s no outlined magic system — just vaguely wave your hand or will it to be and it’s done, the alleged pack/coven laws have absolutely no meaning and it’s just bland.

Continually using ‘mental health’ as a plot device yet never truly doing anything to explore or offer respect to it feels cheap too.

I got this for free on kindle at some point, and after reading half this book, I have no interest in reading the rest. This felt very mediocre, both in writing, and plot, and I have no desire to read on.

yeah, I forgot to review this and I’m not surprised because this was utterly forgettable. It wasn’t bad, don’t get me wrong, but it wasn’t good either. It was like every other book I had read which was the issue to why I have rated it low and didn’t come out remembering the characters names let alone the story.

I did like the writing which is why this is two stars instead of one. I would read again from this author and I think the premise had promise if it wasn’t bogged down by so much cliches.
- bully trope (a personal HATE)
- enemies to lovers but really, they weren’t enemies
- the girl (obviously) an alpha female despite being meek, having no training and lacking in confidence
- I also found this book very sexist which I know is typical for shifter books but this one seemed to really rattle down on women’s roles and the main characters seemed to not challenge it at all.

sadly, this book wasn’t for me.

I’ve never read this author before, so I was excited to read this one. I dived in, and I was ready to read. I loved that the author included a character, Della’s brother, who had mental issues/a disability. It isn’t easy to be responsible for one, and I like the small glimpse we get. I really liked the premise of the story, a witch becoming a wolf, and her witch powers getting stronger when she becomes a wolf. This was a well-written book with lots of action and romance. I’m not really a romance-only, wolf shifter, fan, but this book was quite enjoyable. Recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.

Paranormal? Fantasy? No, it’s just a smutty romance with a so called plot to support it. Was it really bad? Maybe not but it definitely wasn’t for me. Just too boring. First time I sped up an audiobook to 2x….

The FMC is embarrassingly out of touch. I get that the author wanted to make a point about mental health and how people treat them, but using a character who continually tries to kill innocent people and the FMC who brushes over it as everyone just being mean to him because they don't understand him and his mental illness, was not the way to do it.

The FMC is kicked out of her coven then in the next moment she goes to HER coven to get help and is shocked they won't help her. And when she gets in trouble again she's shocked they won't help her. I lost track of the number of times she was told she was kicked out before she realizes she's kicked out.

The MMC is weak and whiney and constantly worries about what his pack will think of him.

The FMC is super powerful now that she's a hybrid, except she's so really over taken by her ex coven members. She can't even fight back enough to hurt anyone.

There's no chemistry between the FMC and the MMC. None.

Loved it. I mean there was a lot of drama so i wish there was more cute or lovely stuff so fingers crossed the next book will actually have more romance or couple scenes since most of this book was quick dramatic exchanges between the two and not in the fun enemies to lovers way but in the ugh when are we gonna get to the good part sorta way. So in that realm it was pretty rough id say this wouldve been better as a prequel or the first half of a book idk depends on ehen the next will be released if its in a month then it fits a sorta acceptable serial vibe if its in like 6 months or something insane like a regular book then yeah nah its not up to the cut as far as first books go. For story and romance anyway i still enjoyed it a lot and i cant wait for the next book IF it drops the first book complicated drama sorta mess that most establishing books tend to be since this was defs a whole lot of angsty mc angst. Hence why it wouldve been nice if was more balanced and less frustration pain politics nonsense. Which is great for a in depth world and story but i mean this is primarily a fantasy mate romance and even that was lackluster in a few areas. So yeah overall i like it it has heaps of potential had some good like morals i guess you could say wasnt super sunshiney roses magical perfection which can be good but i like that this had some grit and a bit more i suppose deserved happiness but yeah more romance more happy less politic jealous exes drama bs. I sick of the mean girl bs especially when its used as drama for the sake of drama same goes for the convenient trouble for the sake of it like i swear there was like 6 enemies slash arseholes in this book alone and nothing went right and it wasnt just once or twice and a lot was like super set up like oh she happens to run into his mortal enemy and ex girlfriend and a truth seeking witch and she shores up all defenses and is powerful af but for some reason they decide to fail and where not given any reason why and the main reason shes kicked is because wolf witch is evil but we never get an explanation as to why thats not allowed and the main reason shes in trouble is pack coven tensions and is expelled but then the witches just decide fuck it lets just start a war anyway? Likewhat. The familiar is mentioned but never properly like in the book or explained its just used as an excuse to want to go back to the apartment and like she could easily get teleported if need be at any point but just hangs around the exiled people are trying to kill me place for funsies? Like no i refuse to accept this level of story again ive read amazing book and series that havent been sucked into stereotypical tv drama hooks like cliffhangers and love triangles and whatnot and i cant go back to this nonsense unless its outweighed by the feel good with it and this individual book and the first book of a series so somewhat free pass on its condition is very much going head first into that realm and i sincerely please book gods hope to hell the next book proves me wrong and is way less messy and more like solid and stuff cause if weve gone from brighton bs to packland bs itll just be same shit different day vibes and i just no thankyou. Like prejudice is good for stories yes but what reasons? Like theres no real like world building other than the vague werewolves and witches exist and humans kinda know but dont know vibe. Like... im gonna need more to go off of dude maybe not in a typical mate romance but theres is like political societal implosion taboo shit and i need to know the society politics backstory and feelings behind why to know the deal. Im not for info dumping but i prefer it to being on shaky wtf is going on ground like i dont like being clueless in real life i certainly dont like the inception feeling thats evoked in books that are just like blah all up in your face and youre left like what? Like what am i supposed to feel rn cause ive been pulled in every direction then chucked on a merry go round and then expected to like have my wits about me enough to know wtf is going on. Same goes for the brother original angle but like ? As if she wouldnt call the doc immediately why bother going for a train and waiting to get out of dodge if you can teleport? Like??? Are you dumb? I dont get her actions? Like you wont defend yourself when i wolf your apparent enemy tries to kill you so you can stick around and save a life and some dudes why trying to rape you but nah let him live so he can come back around in another book like a bad smell but your so called coven attack and its like all out angst and defence? Save for one time when you were legit like in a cage knowing youd be killed type deal but holding back and same goes for the alpha like trying to stop her from killing the threat of the witches who legit just tortured her were gonna kill her brother etc etc but nah let them live so they can hurt or kill you another day. Like they both arent soft so why suddenly is it lik thou shall not kill? When they have all rights to? Like someone explain it to me. Nah dont my head already hurts and i dont care enough. Seriously if i didnt like the concept thats laid out in the blurb for the story and the sort of enemies to lovers vibe then i wouldnt like this book AT ALL. Ikr why give it 4 stars then. Because i want to believe in the series i want it to be encouraged to be 4 stars all on its own the next book and be the awesome series it has the potential to be. If it doesnt then ill be dropping the next book at the first sign of dumb hs drama bs. If theyre adults they should be adults bro. Leave the immature shit for the school yard and young dumb romance.

Good Start

I enjoyed this start to the story 👌 Della is a witch who runs her own shop selling potions and caring for her brother who has some mental health issues. When he misinterprets a situation and badly injures a shifter from the local pack putting Della and her brother on their radar, when Della ends up scratched by the alpha it causes her to become a hybrid and more so his mate... hybrids are forbidden in both shifter and magical law putting their union in jeopardy... interested to see where this story goes.
Definitely recommend reading 📚

None of the characters were even remotely pleasant. I didn't care what happened to any of them. The premise was so farfetched. Werewolves can be created by a scratch and the Alpha makes such a huge mistake. Then everyone is so horrified she survives? Then she is the Alpha's mate and they still want to kill her? Would have given it a negative star rating if I could.

I’ll start off by saying I haven’t read many books with the ‘Rejected Mates’ theme but after reading the first chapter of this book I found that I needed to read more. The inclusion of a prominent character with mental health issues really got my attention and the plot premise was very intriguing. Della’s character resonated with me on a more personal level. She is very strong emotionally, being the sole caretaker of her younger brother who struggles with schizophrenia as well as trying to live a productive life herself. The first quarter of the book showcases this struggle and her determination to protect her brother at all costs.

Unfortunately I felt that once she turned into a werewolf and her mating bond took place, a lot of those qualities sat to the side. Yes we do see bits of that strength and determination through-out, but it's almost as if her character is swallowed by the mating bond.

I also want to note that the book only mentions that her brother has schizophrenia once, and the rest of the time she just says he has mental health problems. Honestly, lean into the schizophrenia diagnosis. Mental health is such a broad term and using it constantly when you have an actual diagnosis causes some of the dialogue to read funny.

In this world, a witch is supposed to be immune to the werewolf curse and in the case that one does turn it is considered illegal by both Pack laws and Coven laws and the person is supposed to be killed. Obviously Della turns into a werewolf but no one really questions why or how it could have happened. They just say it shouldn’t have been possible but oh well she’s gotta die. I would have expected more tension with this revelation. Instead, all of the tension was focused on the fact Della was Malone’s mate but they couldn’t be together.

I thought that both Della and Malone were interesting characters, but outside of the fact they were mates I didn’t feel much chemistry between them. When it comes to the Fated Mate scenario, I always think ‘If they didn’t have this bond would they still be together?’. In this case I would have to say no. Other than them lusting after each other there weren’t any scenes that made me feel they would be compatible outside of the bedroom. There were hints of course, but nothing fully fleshed out.

Overall I wish the books had slowed the Mate Bond down a bit and had more emphasis on the tension between the Coven and the Pack, Della and the Coven, and built up Della and Malone’s relationship more (outside of the lust). I get that it is a Rejected Mates book so the emphasis should be on their bond but I still feel the plot should have shone a little bit more.

I did enjoy the book though and will be picking up the next one.

Shifters & Witches/Fated Mates/Enemies to Lovers/Mainly single PoV

SYNOPSIS (of Book 1 of 4): This is set in a world where humans live alongside shifters/witches but are not really aware of them. The FC, Della, is a witch, who has had a tough upbringing where her mother died when she was young and her father just ignored her and her brother. She has had to look after her brother who has mental issues (paranoid episodes) since she was young and because of her father and brother the local Coven don't treat her particularly well. Due to something her brother does Della is turned into a wolf shifter and discovers that the Alpha of the Brighton pack is her fated mate. Book 1 covers her being turned and the fact that neither shifters nor witches want a witch/wolf hybrid. It ends on a small cliffhanger.

The book was well written with just a few editing issues. The FC is likeable and strong and the MC, whilst not the strongest MC, still comes across as possessive and able to hold his own. Like the FC who has self worth issues, he's had a damaged upbringing and inherited a pack that has suffered losses through battles with other packs and which is caught in the middle of fights with 3 other packs.

The story evolves nicely with some good drama and pace that keep the pages turning and the reader engaged. The relationship between the FC and MC is an enemies to lovers but as they are fated mates they are inevitably drawn together. However there is still a nice amount of evolution in their relationship despite the insta-attraction.

I enjoyed reading this book and, whilst not an absolutely attention grabber, it was still a fun read. However, I noticed that having received Book 1 free the other 3 books in the series cost around GBP4.99 each. That is not cheap for a kindle but I would have been prepared to consider paying it to see if Book 2 developed better but then saw that each subsequent book is only around 160 pages. I resent it when authors try to rip readers off by charging money for books that are not worth it. This author has clearly decided that she can gouge some extra money out of readers by spreading her story over 4 books with each subsequent book barely being long enough to be called a book (as opposed to novella).

The story is not good enough for me to want to reward the author's approach although I am sure that there are others who have paid for the books only to find they are only about half a real book's length. I'll leave it to others if they think it's worth it!

I would give this a 3.5*

Worldbuilding:
A(n) (urban) paranormal romance set in present-day Brighton, England, only with... you know... witches and werewolves :D (my kind of world!). The setting of the stage was pretty smooth, we got a clear view of who the players were and what the power structure was early on in the book. That said, there never was an overload of information, it just came as it was needed for the story to unfold.
Scenes and environments were clear and well detailed.

Character development:
Della's whole world revolved around caring for her brother Drake, who suffered from a mental disability, making him paranoid. When a situation got out of hand, and he nearly killed one of the wolves, they had to get out of Brighton asap to stay ahead of the wolves. This fails spectacularly btw and she ends up being stuck between the two factions, lost and unsure whom she can trust.
For some reason, just I couldn't connect to Della :( It just felt like something was missing.
Malone, I could understand better as he was torn between the bond and his pack. The way they both handled situations was not great, but they learned and they grew.
The characters (main and side) felt real and believable. I would have loved a bit more backstory, but that might still come in the following book(s).

Pacing and flow:
From the get-go, I got pulled into the story and I really didn't want to put it down before I knew how it ended :) There was a good balance between all the action and conversation, which kept the story moving forward, though it never felt rushed.

The book:
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. There is sex described (if that is important to you).
The book was 305 pages long, spread over 17 chapters and told from Della's point of view.

Final thoughts:
It was an enjoyable read, though certain things began to irritate me a bit towards the end (I'm going to throw something if I read 'my alpha this' or 'my alpha that' one more time) :(
With the second book soon coming out, will I continue the rest of the series? At the moment, no.
But who knows I might give it another shot in the future.

It was OK. Della, though, has no self respect. TBH, it felt like part of her character more than bad writing, but she showed absolutely no growth in the book and that I didn’t like. Because it felt like the author was doing it because she needed the drama in order to make the story longer than it needed to be. I mean, four books? The story was enough for maybe two. Malone was a total bastard. Then we get his sob story, and that’s supposed to justify everything he did. Nope. I didn’t like him in the slightest, and there’s no character growth with him either.
Worldbuilding is very inconsistent, and some things are not even explained. Sometimes the author contradicts herself. There was one scene where Malone starts to tell his pack their history with the witches, starting with the typical: “As you know…” with no other purpose than exposition (It was the only chapter in Malone’s POV). Even his pack complains about it, so I didn’t see the need to do that. It wasn’t even important, and the gist of it had been already mentioned before. Magic is vaguely explained, but we get endless paragraphs about how hot and annoying Malone is, and how misunderstood Drake and Della are. This ends in a cliffhanger, but it felt like the plot was stretched so thin already, I don’t think I can get through three other books of Della’s inner monologue while she shows no personal growth whatsoever. The way this was going she’s gonna become a Mary Sue without any flaws later on.

I think one of the hard parts was this book finally starts getting moving and it’s done. The book was moderately paced then at the end we just get one thing after another thrown at us. It’s marked rejected mate, but I almost feel like this is more of an enemies to lovers - yes, he rejects her at first because “taboo”, but they are together by the end of the book. This could be due to my inexperience with the rejected mates trope as I have only read a couple at this point, but in them the main character that was rejected breaks the bond and finds someone else.

I appreciated having the main character with a brother who has mental health issues, though I am not sure how I feel about using that issue to start the main conflict. I see how it was a good way to make Della the main target. Was Drake only included as a plot device to make Della’s life harder or was he included for representation? We’ll see later if I continue the series.

I feel like in the future her dad is going to make an appearance now that she’s strong, her coven will try to kill her again, and Kieran will start some kind of fight with the tiny Brighton pack she is now potentially part of.

I know witches need a coven for that feeling of community, but did she actually need THIS one? All they ever did was tolerate her and her brother and no one ever helped them when they needed it.

Already a witch at breaking point, I really can’t be dealing with the latest scandal affecting my life. I’m busy selling spells from my shop when my brother accidentally almost kills a werewolf, attracting the wrath of my enemy, the Brighton Pack alpha, Malone.
Or will I be able to escape before he claims me and jeopardizes his position as alpha?
A witch werewolf hybrid, something that shouldn't be and to top it off a mate bond to the alpha, there was an attraction even without the bond, but the bond makes it almost impossible to resist.
Both the witches and the pack demand her death but the Alpha will protect her no matter and she him. Makes for an interesting story line.

I received an ARC of this book from the author (there are a few inconsistencies that I feel confident will be rectified before publication so I’m basing my review on that assumption). It’s a fun story about a witch who is scratched by a werewolf and shifts. Witches are not supposed to be able to shift, and as a result, the coven disowns her while the wolf pack wants nothing to do with her. In fact, everyone wants to kill her. Della is a snarky, wise-ass female—my favorite kind. As Della flees a potential killer, she states that her “amygdala switched to Run Bitch Run.” Malone, the alpha of the pack initially seems like a complete jerk, but he turns out to be hiding a softer side. The frequent references to the stigma associated with mental illness were a bit heavy-handed and dogmatic. We get it. People (and paranormals) discriminate against those with mental illness and it’s not fair. Sadly, I don’t think this book is going to change that. I don’t want to add any spoilers because I think the story is so good and definitely worth reading. I’m really looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Della and her brother are witches and joined a coven who really only tolerated their presence. Her brother had a mental illness, which can make things very confusing for him. One day, when he came to her shop claiming werewolves were after him, she took him out to get him help. When one of them tried to chase them down, he attacked the wolf with a spell~ He almost killed him and now she had to hide her brother while he received the help he needed. When confronted by the Alpha Malone, an altercation makes him scratch her…and she became an abomination both witches and wolves wanted killed! She meets another wolf from another pack and he befriends her. Now, she has no clue what to do or where to turn…the witches are after her to destroy her…the wolves are wanting her dead…and the best thing of all is the relationship between her and Malone, which neither can resist! Loads of trouble, lots of action! This ends in a cliffhanger! It is an exciting, thrilling, edge-of-your-seat action from page one!

Can a witch become a werewolf?

Della and Drake Mason are brother and sister witches. Drake is an artist, but has problems with mental illness. Sometimes he is fine but then he becomes paranoid. They are outcasts from their coven because of Drakes illness. His paranoia is rampant today and he thinks the Werewolves are trying to hurt them. Their Alpha Malone tries to reach Drake and Della steps between them and Malone claws her arm. The coven rejects them and Della calls Dr. Amel to get Drake. Della returns home and Malone comes and takes her away so she can change into her wolf in safety. Once she changes, Malone realzes she is his mate and because of pack law, rejects her. When the coven finds out she is a hybrid wolf shifter, they try to kill her. Can she escape both the witches and the wolves?

This book just feels like speed run through a lot of tropes and bit of plot.

Witches, wolves, enemy, magic, annoying coven, the nasty ex lover, fated mates, forbidden shit, all-time horny but no no forbidden must kill, random nice dude put of nowhere, troubled past, just squish everything inside.

The characters? She, whatever her name was, is a witch, amazing and thinks he is hot. He, Malone, is a growling alpha werewolf and sexy. And of course they are enemies and that she becomes a werewolf, the impossible thing, eye roll, happens. I really wish book plots would not be based on breaking the created universes law.

And really just a scratch makes you change in a werewolf, that's just dumb.

This book truly annoyed be and I'm absolutely fine to read book with huge potholes and minimal world building as long as the book is written good and pulling me in.

And guess what if you wonder how the story continues just read the description of the other three books, it's telling you all you could want to now.

3* This book was okay. A typical wolf-witch fated mates romance, with good world building and pacing. I just wish the romance and plot was more developed and nuanced. Not much happened in this book but the ending suggests there will be more to the story so hopefully this improves in the next one. As for the romance, it didn't feel like enemies to lovers. Della and Malone barely had any conflict between them to begin with and there wasn't much chemistry either, which makes me wonder if they would even be together if they weren't mates...

I appreciate that the author also tried to include some mental health representation but I felt that it was over used and brought up in places that didn't quite make sense. The characters were also a bit flat, Della had a little TSTL syndrome and Malone kept doing 180s. Despite all this, I'm interested enough to keep going and will be starting book 2 now!

Della's a witch with limited powers
She does her best, trying for hours and hours.
She cares for her brother, the only family of her own,
Who has mental health issues that make others groan.

In Brighton, where they live, there's an uneasy truce
Between the witches there and werewolves on the loose.
When her brother tries to defend Della, catastrophe
His magical attack causes dangers all foresee.

When Malone, the alpha of the Brighton Pack
Comes for revenge and her brother to attack
Della jumps into the affray and gets scratched, too,
That's just the start of more things to go through!

An interesting premise that leads on to so much more
Making this a paranormal romance that many will adore.
An accidental turning that has consequences, too,
Will it all work out? What will they all do?

A fascinating read with and enemies first romance
That makes for a different read that I'm glad I gave a chance.
If you enjoy steamy paranormal stories with angst galore
You'll probably discover this is a series you'll adore!

Rachel Medhurst is a favorite author so it’s a good day anytime I can get my hands on a new series from her. The reasons why are clear in her The Wolf's Witch (The Witch's Pack, Book 1). Described by its publisher as “ A Rejected Mates Shifter Paranormal Romance”, this tells the story of forbidden love, an alpha wolf shifter, Malone, an a with already on the outs with her coven, Della, who is accidentally turned into a hybrid witch-wolf shifter, something absolutely forbidden by all. To make things even better, Della and Malone of course ended up as fated mates. Adventure, and romance, ensue in a perfectly told tale with a great cast of lead a d supporting characters and really excellent world-building (though things are left hanging at the end so you’ve got to be able to deal with that). I can’t wait for book 2, and it should be no surprise that this one is highly recommended.
