3 stars & 3/10 hearts. Better than I expected, honestly. The children were polite and respectful, the adults never portrayed as stupid. Taking care of animals and the environment was stressed, but properly—not to the it’s-more-important-than-humans level. The Inuit were presented very well and considerately, but without its being a big deal—the way it should be. I really enjoyed the dog-sleigh theme! The excitement was quite real, too—I couldn’t put the book down! The only thing I’m a little confused about is how, given gun-control laws, the Canadians got their guns up there when they weren’t allowed to go hunting, but that’s a minor quibble. I really appreciated how it was all wrapped up. It’s obviously very young for me, but I wouldn’t have any issues handing this to any child.

This is a review of the UK Hodder edition.

This was the final book in the Animal Ark in the Arctic trilogy. This was also (if I remember correctly) the first book in the Animal Ark Universe that was written by a man -- or, at least, used a man's pen name of Stephen Cole. Remember, if you want to know who the real author of an Animal Ark book is, just look at the copyright page and see who is given "special thanks."

In the first book of the trilogy, the Hopes were researching the effects of climate change in the Arctic. Now, however, they're suddenly researching the impact of tourism on the Arctic. What a lucky pair of veterinarians. Not only can they afford to be away from their practice most of the year, but get funding for two research papers (or whatever it is this research is going towards.)

This also the first book in the trilogy that mentioned Mandy's age -- 12. Keep in mind that she was 12 in the very first book. Since then, there's been a six month trip to Australia, this long trip to the Arctic, a summer in America, another summer in Africa, at least five Christmases ... and who knows how many weekend getaways and vacations.

I know this series is supposed to be "time static" ... but this is getting ridiculous.

As to the story itself, it's halfway decent, with more action than in the usual Animal Ark book. It was nice to see that the author noted that there were different types of huskies. Have to admit -- names like Nanook and Sedna were not entirely original names for huskies.

The illustrations were done by Anne Baum, who actually does a decent job with dogs this time around.

This was field trip kind of book, but it didn’t really feel like it, as the places they explored fit into the plot well. Solid entry in the series. It was a bit too perfect of an ending for my personal taste, but it’s still good.

This was a good book that dives a little more into animal issues, such as hunting, poaching and working dogs. Well written and fast paced as are the others.

When I saw this book at the local library I quickly picked it up and checked it out. This is my favorite book in the series. Mandy Hope a vet in training goes on vacation in the Arctic and meets the famous dog sled team. I will not say anything else because a lot happens and I don't know were to start. I just hope you read it and enjoy it as much as I did.

My favourite part was when the rescue team and vet make it to the hut in time to save nanook. The worst part was when nanook was attacked by a wolf. My favourite character was Mandy because she wanted nanook to stay alive. The worst characters were the men that were hunting caribou when the weren't allowed to. Auryn 11 years old

Nanook is the leader of the sled dogs. But when she gets badly injured, the people on the dogsled must bring her to shelter. The rescue party has to get to her before it's to late!

I really like this book. It was awesome! You have got to read it.

Taylor liked this okay, and we read this together for a project he is doing on huskies at school. I personally didn't like the writing style at all. Not quality literature, for sure.
