You should not be content to merely read God's Word; you need to have it "planted" in your heart. This means you need to have certain Scripture verses committed to memory so you can recall them anytime you need to spiritually combat any negative, distortional thoughts. ~ Don Colbert, MD

I like that Don Colbert not only focuses on nutrition, supplements, medicine and exercise to cure depression, but also focuses on the Power of God's Word to overcome depression.

He gives many tools for curing depression that your typical doctor would not give to you. Such as: Having an "attitude of gratitude", memorizing and confessing the Word of God and prayer.

This book will surely help you to combat depression and anxiety if heeded.

Very fast read, even at a casual pace you'll be done in just a few days. I recently had a rash of deaths close to me (5) and additional issues that made the past 6 weeks, the worst in my life (46 years old) I had a difficult time finding center. Even defining "normal" has been near impossible. I, like a lot of men, wanted to help "fix" my wife as one of the family deaths was her dad. I learned you cant "fix" ANYONE. The grieving process is different for everyone. As a husband, I felt like I was failing. Illness with family pets, new bosses at work and so on only compounded my problem. I needed help. I call on God daily, but I always find the opinion of an author, in this case Dr. Colbert is a good way to start sorting it all out. I am abundantly grateful for this little book, and I KNOW Ill be referring back to it again. I cant give it a perfect rating because to get there, this book would likely need to increase its size from its modest incarnation to a self help monstrosity. So, Ill accept it as it is, and celebrate its usefulness and compact size. Totally recommended as a book to help you decide where your first step to recovery should fall.

I am a mental health professional Some of the things I did not agree with. Mental health is a real thing and you can't just pray it away.

This book is really focused on changing your mind and replacing thoughts with Scripture. The chapters that was the most insightful were the nutrition and the supplements (especially since we live in a society where everything is focused on taking a pill). I do appreciate the fact that Don Colbert does recommend CBT for someone who has a serious disorder such as PTSD (which is running rampant due to traumas).

It's OK as a book and helpful for someone who has anxiety.
