The story is about a mouse who likes to take adventures. Livingstone is his name. He sat out to find what was going on in the woods, when he first met a woodpecker and a beaver that were building a stage. They told him if he kept going on the path he could see all the act rehearsals happening and getting ready for the show. So Livingstone walked along the path an found two foxes doing the fox-trot but were doing it very terribly. Livingstone tried to help by saying the rhythm is off but they got upset and so Livingstone left. when he left he was followed by a bug. Each time Livingstone went down the path he met a new group of animals and tried helping them; and each time the animals got upset so Livingstone would leave and a new bug that was watching the rehearsals would follow him. As the story went on Livingstone had gathered a plan for the show and when it was time for the show Livingstone showed up with all the bugs and they played music that had a great rhythm and would help each act dance wonderfully. Then when the show was over all the animals cheered for Livingstone and asked if he would play music for all of their acts and he did.

This book is really cute and fun to read. I love all the illustrations within the book. This book would be really good if you are doing a music lesson or a lesson on problem solving. For reasons the animals had a problem and Livingstone found a solution.

I was not overly impressed by the story line of this book. It made Livingstone the Mouse an explorer to try to spice it up, but it was a pretty generic story with no excitement. There was some nice repetition and a good message of listening to others, but I would not highly recommend this book.

He discovers that all the participants rhythm is off, but none of them listens to what he has to say. But in the end, it's Livingston who brings the much needed rhythm to the dance performance.
