England expects that every man will do his duty.

A truly gripping narrative of the final hours of Lord Admiral Nelson, revered English hero, as he led his navy during the battle of Trafalgar, one of the largest and most decisive naval engagements in history.

Excellent audio version found here.

Brilliant. We love hearing the true story straight from the source. Despite it being a narrative of death it had some amazing anecdotes about Nelson's life, too, most of which made me laugh out loud. What a joy to happen upon those moments.

Authentic Narrative of the Death of Lord Nelson by Sir William Beatty, the doctor of Nelson’s flag ship HMS Victory was present during the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21, 1805. He was the attending doctor when Nelson was brought below decks during the battle. The narrative describes the ship and Lord Nelson’s actions before, during and after until his death approximately two and a half hours after being struck by a snipers ball. How Nelson’s body was preserved for the two month voyage back to England and the autopsy report after his arrival home. This relative short narrative gives a good insight into one of England’s most famous heroes. I recommend it for all history lovers.
