"Anybody who wants to take our freedoms must face our weapons first." --Ben Raines
Rise And Fight
Social decay buckled America and the Great War brought her to her knees. Out of the ashes, two would-be nation states rise. One is built on values of hard work and justice, under the leadership of the outlaw general, Ben Raines. The other would return all power to the federal government and to the very politicians who plunged the USA into destruction once before. . .
Now, the federals have lined up their forces north of the border for a sweep down into the lower forty-eight. Against three powerful divisions, Raines has thrown up nine battalions of outgunned Rebel fighters. But when the shooting begins, a new battle erupts. This time, Raines faces an enemy from behind his own lines as legions of Rebels

I love the Ashes series, but this one stuck closer to home than others. At this point in time, after the events of Sandy Hook and the attempt at the gun ban, MOLON LABE has become a rally cry. On page 231 COME TAKE IT is added to a flag flown by the rebels. Sometimes fact is as strange as fiction.
This book deals with a reestablishment of the US government. Once again Ben's rebels are a seperate nation. In fact the SUSA (Southern United States of America) is formed. Ben tries to warn the North that they need to get rid of the policies that have dragged administrations into the muck in the past.
It is strangely like our current situation. I guess, we'll see if the folks in Washington can see the writing in Johnstone's books yet...
Very good adventure series. Basically the forming of a new United States after WW3 and the story of the man who leads and forms it. If you like men's adventure stories you will enjoy it. Recommended
