"They were so used to letting life pass them by. They were eager to make up for lost time ..."
Barnyard Meadows is a quiet little town. There's not a lot to do, but that's okay because everyone is attached to their devices. But Little Red Hen is different. She thinks there is plenty to do in town if you make a little effort. Hen is a "planner and a doer" and she decides she wants to make your own Barntube channel, including a baking show called Little Red Kitchen. But when she tries to get her friends involved, they have no interest in the idea. So Hen goes it alone ... and her first video goes viral in just a few hours. Turns out there is a lot of exciting things going on in Barnyard Meadows when you take the time to get off your device and look around.
This is a fun series. In the back, it includes the major plot changes made to the original story by this one as well as the text of the original fable, including the moral.
A retelling of the Little Red Hen classic in this twisted version involving events happening in Barnyard Meadows, the quietest town this side of the Sleepy River. While everyone has their faces glued to their cell phones, Little Red Hen has other plans, that none of her friends are willing to take part in.
It a weird position here because I do think this was a good adaptation of the original fable—I just really, really hate stories where the moral is “people are on their phones too much!!” (she types, on her phone). Art was good too even if I’m not crazy about the animals.
Cute, almost four stars! I like the connection to the original, and how, though it's a retelling, it keeps to the original lesson quite well. Concise and short. Back matter includes guidance about how to parse text and images to get more out of the book than just the top level story.
I like this version of the Little Red Hen. I like all her adventures and then making a cooking video 📹 😋. My sister and I like to watch cooking competitions while we are eating 😋.
