EN We're back to the classic Thorgal adventures that I've come to love and enjoy.

In this story, I believe we get the first reference to the Ouroboros ring—the serpent that devours its own tail. This element of Thorgal's mythos will later play a role in the Thorgal Saga series.

A straightforward and enjoyable time travel adventure—if such a thing can ever be considered simple!

The Thorgal formula:

1. Art that's studied, detailed, like an illustration from a history book.
2. Action that draws from the cinema of its day. That is, it's straightforward and easy to follow (unlike contemporary 'realistic' Bourne-type stuff) and using its format as a comic to show characters taking risks that live action movies never could, but always remaining within the realm of plausibility (unlike contemporary cgi).
3. Fantasy themes and moods combined with science fiction ideas.

It works more often than it fails, and feels fresh even after thirty years.

It's such a huge contrast from current super hero comics, where the action and the details can be so sloppy.

The Master of the Mountains is a time travel story in an alpine landscape, set in a simple cottage (the details of which play an important role in the story), with a skiing sequence like something out of an 80s Bond movie. Thorgal intervenes repeatedly in the life of a greedy boy who keeps growing up to be a minor mountain warlord. Anticipates low budget, single setting time travel movies from the aughts.

In my mind, this is the best of all the Thorgal BDs. It's so well-done, so complicated too! Time-travelling is always a tricky business and it's hard to make it work, but in this masterpiece everything just flows beautifully. Though it does bogle the mind. I might eventually have to draw up timelines to understand it all.

As usual, the drawings are great and it's a pleasure to see the northern winter landscapes and their summery contrast. The characters who share Thorgal's story for just this album, Torric and Vlana, are fully-fleshed and very interesting. (I actually loved Vlana so much, her name became my Internet surname for a while.)

It's really the best Thorgal. Everybody must own it! Also it's nice because it's a one-album story (not a cycle) so you don't need to buy ten albums to understand it.

This viking tale has a dash of sci-fi which leads to a lot of interesting plot twists. The art is really attractive as well. However, the villain in this story makes so many stupid decisions. It's almost laughable, but it's still entertaining.

I'm fascinated by how decades-old Thorgal stories get me. I do not even need to turn a blind eye to it for being "old comics". And when I found Thorgal getting a bit dull, he throws in some adventure like this. Decent time travel with a nice theory on how the time flows and how changes in past can (or can't) eventually change the future. There is always some moral lesson, but subtle, not pushed in front, and there is always feel of the satisfying conclusion of the story. There is always some new interesting aspect in the story, small, but sometimes even important for stories in future or reference to the previous one. It all feels very organic and that's the beautiful Thing on Thorgal. Every story very quickly engages me and after it's finished I just want to read another one. And that's a mark of a fine, fine comics.

¡Cómo lo he disfrutado!

This was one of creepiest volumes of Thorgal's adventures, but I loved that.

In this one shot we follow Thorgal as travels to north to thw Vikings to fetch a boat and take the pregnant Aaricia and Jolan back to their homelands.

As he travels he meets an escaped slave and a weird ring that manages them to cross 37 years into the past or future..

And this begins a mind bending adventure filled with twists & turns of the characters, their fate and time itself..

One cannot refrain from appreciating the brilliance of Van Hamme in this Album..

Thorgal, in the middle of one of his many quests, finds a young fugitive hiding in a burnt-out cottage in the mountains, then discovers a special ring which takes them both back into the cottage's past to meet the young woman who lived there. A Moffatesque story with a repulsive villain.

Thorgal goes back to the future, complete with a Biff character and a romantic story. It's an ok script if not a bit on the cliche side.

Απίστευτο και όμως αληθινό! Σε αυτή την ιστορία χρησιμοποιείται το ταξίδι στο χρόνο και μάλιστα επιτυχώς! Υπάρχει κάτι που να κάνουν λάθος οι δημιουργοί του Thorgal άραγε;
