The Fairfields #1

Darling, All at Once Lib/E

Rate this book
Wasted, covered in glitter, and wearing the ugliest dress in existence.
Also known as: me, the night I stumble into bed with a Fairfield.

Cohen isn’t my type. Not even a little. I mean, other than his legendary family genes, and a smirk that leaves me as breathless as it does enraged.

One night. That’s all I want.

Then daylight comes, and all I want is to forget him. There’s just one problem: that night was too incredible to black out.

Actually, there are two problems.

Now my sister wants me to be her surrogate. To carry her child. To be pregnant.

But, as luck would have it…I already am.

* * *

Wasted, hungover, in that dress or out of it: there’s not a single version of Juliet I don’t find beautiful. Including knocked-up.

I’m a joker. I’m immature. She’s got a long list of reasons why I’m not her type.

But thank God for hormones: now she needs something. Bad. And I can give it to her, in about a hundred different ways.

I promise her our arrangement will stay purely physical.

I’m a liar.

This was fine. Sweet, relaxed, surprise pregnancy after a One Night Stand.

But... nothing about it will stand out after today... so it's a bit bland for me.

I loved how Cohen was a candy floss vendor at Juliet's sisters wedding. That just screams fun to me so I was enjoying this from early on. And then there's the slightly drunken sex after said wedding ends and I was drawn into this.

Cohen's boyish charms really won me over, as did his constant hoping for more with Juliet. Juliet, on the other hand, could deny her attraction and want for something more with him until she was blue in the face but it was pretty obvious after a while so about half way through when they gave in and became a couple I was really happy for them.

Of course nothing ever goes as planned and their relationship goes through a few rough patches but the baby brought them together for a lot of it. It was really cute. I seem to have a soft spot for babies and toddlers in my romances. They just add a touch of...tenderness to the characters. I melt a little when a big tough guy goes all gentle and sweet with a cute little kid--or even his pregnant girlfriend.

I really liked this, it was pretty high on cuteness in my opinion. I'm intrigued about who's going to star in the rest of this series so I will be keeping my eye out for other books in the series.

This wasn't a bad read. My issue with this is that Juliet was not always likable. Cohen was trying hard to be a better man/person. Yet all she seemed to do was get mad at him. Thankfully they got it together in the end.

Original review: A Novel Glimpse

★ ★ ★ ★ ½
There have been a couple of times lately where Facebook ads for books have sucked me in. Darling, All at Once is one of the books that got my attention enough for me to download it. It sounded so cute and fun.

Darling, All at Once is about Juliet and Cohen’s “backwards” romance. The two meet at Juliet’s sister’s wedding. Juliet, weighed down by being the only single sister left, has a one night stand with easy go lucky Cohen. Their one night stand quickly turns into something more when Juliet learns — while trying to decide whether to be her sister’s surrogate or not — that she’s pregnant. Juliet’s not so sure a relationship with Cohen is the right thing, but he’s determined to win her heart.

This book was exactly what I thought it would be: cute and fun. I loved the way Juliet and Cohen’s relationship happened. Juliet and Cohen were very different people. Juliet was more serious and a planner. Cohen was pretty much a grown up boy. They were two people who wouldn’t normally seem like a perfect match, but they were. Their relationship (or lack of it at times) was not smooth sailing, but bumpy and totally entertaining. I loved how they worked backwards from baby to falling in love.

My favorite thing about this book were all the situations and emotions it combined. There were things that made me laugh. A few time I got a little sad. There were things that made me swoon. Those things were balanced out by things that made me angry with one of the characters. Darling, All at Once was one of those romances that was able to make the mixture of all of that into a great story. I might have thought this book would be cute and fun, but I didn’t realize how much I would come to love it. I loved it so much that I started to read the second book in the series immediately after finishing this one.

This was a cute and interesting read.

Cohen and Juliet meet at Juliet’s younger sister’s wedding and they hit it off right away; unfortunately, what Juliet assumes would be a one night thing ended up being so much more. I have to say I did enjoy the book but Juliet mostly got on my nerves. She acted as though she was better than Cohen and made fun of him and doubted him, but that didn’t stop her from using him for what she needed. On the other hand, Cohen did act like an immature man child at certain times but mostly it was his way of letting people think (even his own family) that he is irresponsible that bothered me.

Juliet was a strong woman with the qualities of a doormat when it came to her family; also it should be pointed out she had sex with no condom (was on the pill) with a complete stranger, but Cohen was deemed the highly irresponsible person. I just felt that most people just dumped on Cohen and he just let them and rarely tried to change their opinions.

Not sure what happened with the Lindsay character who was Cohen’s sister in law; she went from being a kind person to totally something else by the end.

What I would have loved to have known is what happened to Beatrix? Was she still alive at the farm?

What happened with Cohen’s mom?

I hope Levi (Cohen’s brother) gets his own book after everything that happened. Also I would love to know more about Juliet’s roommate, Mara.

I have to say, that this is probably the most light-hearted Piper Lennox romance, that I've read. Not that this one won't choke you up, or get a sniffle or two, out of you. An opposites attract, one-night-stand-no-strings-turns-to-more and surprise baby, romance. Juliet took on the role of Mom, to her sisters during her mother's illness and then death. So, it was no wonder that she got a little tipsy, ( okay, drunk) after playing the role of Mom, sister, and maid of honor, and coordinator, at her sister's wedding. Plus, she remained the only sister among them, not married, so, there's that. Juliet, being a young, inexperienced, quasi-mom, had a hard time, saying no, to her sisters. Relieved that the wedding was over, and with having had, way too much to drink, she had a one-night-stand, with the guy who flirted with her all day - a guy she called, "cotton candy guy." Next thing you know, Juliet finds that she agreed to be a surrogate for her sister, and during the testing, she finds that she is ALREADY pregnant. You guessed it," cotton candy guy's" baby! Okay, his name is Cohen. Listen, I like Cohen. Juliet liked Cohen, too, and had a really good time with him - REALLY good. Yet, she is convinced that he isn't her type, and so the struggle begins. Great characters, wonderful banter. Everything you want in a romance - laughter, tears, drama, angst, trial by fire... it's all here. Loved it! I received this book as an ARC and I volunteered this review.

Piper Lennox is a new author to me and I really enjoyed her style of writing. She really knows how to pull at your heart strings [be prepared to have hankies handy], and yet, she knows how to share amusement too. This is a light hearted romance in so many ways but does involve a young woman whose mum died and she took over bringing up her sisters. Juliet has been her sister's wedding co-ordinator, 'mother of the bride' maid of honour, the lot and she is exhausted both physically and emotionally so she gets rather tipsy - not she was drunk. Anyway she ends up having a one night stand with Cohen who has had an unusual upbringing to say the least! He's everything she shouldn't want, but oh my goodness does she want him! He's been flirting with her all day at the wedding and they end up in bed. It's only when she agrees to be a surrogate for her sister that she gets tested and finds out that she is already pregnant and the dad is Cohen! Yikes! He's determined that every father should be involved with his children and he is even more determined to make Juliet come to love him. Beautifully written with superb characters and I loved the ending. I'm looking forward to reading more of The Fairfields as this is Book 1 of the series. This was my first book by author Piper Lennox, but it won't be my last! This book was fun, flirty and left the reader wanting more...what it didn't do, however, was not get on the reader's very last nerve...it was so hard to like Juliet...or her sister Vi....Abby was great, as was The Fairfield brothers...

The plot was fun, there was a bit of filler designed to increase the number of pages in the book, but for the most part it held the readers attention and didn't let it go. The characters were a bit Eh for me. Juliet was a whining, annoying, princessy pain in the butt that the reader couldn't connect with (well, this reader anyway). Vi was a spoiled brat...who reminded me so much of my little sister (maybe that is what the problem was)...and Abby well she was ok.

I enjoyed the back and forth banter and the overall fun of the book, but it is hard to give a full 5 stars when the major characters weren't worthy. I will read more by this author in the future, hopefully she develops her characters a bit less unlikeable.

I really enjoyed Darling, All at Once by Piper Lennox.
Original take on saying yes to anything either if her younger sisters want and ask her for. She helped raise them after their mother died. Being asked to be a surrogate for one sister and finding out...Pregnant. Talk about a game changer!
I found the believable. When young and have preconceived ideas and judgements. Not everything is as they appear. But, when in twenties, you think you have all the answers and come to the correct conclusions. Juliet is like this. Having helped raised her sisters she wants security and not interested in a man or having kids ever..so she thinks.
I loved the small town they lived in and the close family connections. Her family and Cohen’s knew each other and respected each other sort of. Juliet has the most judgmental assumptions of them all.
Assuming just cause his family last name is wealthy he had a Posh Life despite being told his mom left and never looked back

This was my first book by Piper Lennox and I enjoyed it.
Cohen was a bit of a shock, he wasn't an ordinary candy floss vendor as he was so desperately trying to prove himself to his brother.
There were times when I hated Juliet, I felt sorry for her as we learnt how she had supported her sisters but I couldn't believe she was considering being her sister's surrogate and then she finds out she is pregnant anyway. I also disliked her for pushing Cohen away and being materialistic but then he family eventually intervene when she ends up needing medical attention so they call Cohen.

It was great to see Cohen reach his potential within his brother's business. Of course the book has a happy ending with Juliet and Cohen ending up together.
I am looking forward to the next book within this series

Loved!

Let’s start off by saying viola is a horrible human being. But honestly it’s partly juliets fault for giving her everything she wants. Because to imply that she should and/or would have an abortion so that she can get her surrogate is horrible and/or just give viola her kid. Seriously?!? Like wtf?!? And Juliet just took it. Ok deep breath. Ok I’m good now. Lol. She gets. Ether after a heart to heart with all three of them that was years coming. I loved this story. Cohen and Juliet where exact opposites when it comes to personalities and opinions. But they are each other’s yin to yang and balance one another perfectly. Yes she was judgmental and only saw the negative. Yes he was overly positive and didn’t seem to have a plan. But things can be deceiving. Loved the ending.

Had a good story line

I liked the story line if the book. I liked the emotional underlines as well. She touched on topics that affect many people in our country today so I did love that. The story is cute and sweet I just didn’t live the characters as much as I wanted to. Juliet was a little too uptight and stuck up. I hated how she was so judgmental about Cohen and was so willing to throw everything away because of it. Who does that? Cohen was pretty immature, though men tend to be more so, but he didn’t seem to take anything seriously except at work. Who carries a bowl in his pocket while saying he is a responsible person? I still liked the story just didn’t love it.

I wish I'd written my review sooner, so I had more to say, but I liked it!

At first I didn't really feel Cohen and Juliet's chemistry, but as the book progressed it improved a lot. I really liked how Cohen was kind of irresponsible and had to prove himself. I've read a lot of books with this trope and the fact that the hero wasn't perfect and made a lot of mistakes was something a little different.

I wouldn't say I'm interested enough to read book two, and looking back on it 10 days after finishing it I do think it was a little forgettable, but I enjoyed it at the time and would read more from this author in the future.

Optimist meets pessimist and sparks fly

Darling, All At Once by Piper Lennox is a fantastic book. Well written overall with well developed characters and storylines.
Cohen and Juliet are, on the surface, opposites. However, as they eventually get to know one another, similarities are discovered.
The journey of their storyline is engaging and explosive in a variety of ways. Their HEA is hard won, much deserved, thoroughly realistic and I absolutely loved it!

I thought this was a very good book. I found Juliet to be so realistic and easy to relate to. I loved that spark between her and Cohen. Cohen’s probably the most complete opposite of Juliet, but they complement each other so well. They were exactly what the other needed! I found myself shedding a few tears while reading this book. There were definitely a few emotional scenes. Can’t wait to find out what happens with Levi!

Super cute accidental pregnancy story!

Really enjoyed Juliet and Cohen. She is way too serious, and he thinks most things are a joke. The chemistry is instant even if she wants to deny it. This story digs deep into family dynamics with sisters, brothers and parents. Anyone can relate to the heartache these families have endured. Really felt for Cohen and his challenges. Vi really got on my last nerve with her antics. Well written characters that I can't wait to see develop in the next book. Great little read. Recommend!

I loved Cohen and Juliet's story. There's such a good, real-life struggle emphasis to this book. It's very down-to-earth and they both are very relatable-their personality, thoughts, and even their very relatable and hilarious fights. I also enjoyed the interaction between Cohen and Juliet and the progression of their relationship. There is a simple, country vibe to Lennox's writing that I really enjoy.

This is is the first book in the Fairfields series by Piper Lennox and can be read as a standalone. Pretty steamy with great characters and an entertaining story. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review. One night in bed with a Fairfield can change your life and lead it to an HEA.

This was an good book. I was crazy and about opposites who attract and just don't one just don't want to admit it. Juliet and Cohen get together and share a heated moment. Juliet's sister wants Juliet to be a surrogate for her, but then Juliet finds out she is already pregnant.

Event with having read hundreds of romances this author takes the cake . From Cohen’s childhood to his job the author blew me away with her imagination and creativity in the plot . Juliet being the other main character and having two sisters in the book added the extra dimensions for a great romance . Reads and enjoy !!

Cohen and Juliet were such a wonderful couple! I could totally relate to Juliet and her inability to say no to her family. She deserved the special relationship she had with Cohen and I was rooting for them to make it from the very beginning.

I liked the story overall, I didn't feel an intense desire to finish it. I liked the characters,I mean who doesn't like that one person that always make jokes at all the wrong inappropriate times. There is some sadness to parts of this story but overall it's positive, and the adult scenes were very well written.

A fun read. Two very different people, plenty of sparks and one little surprise. A one night stand turns into a long distance run. Juliet and Cohen work well together even being so different. The characters have plenty of chemistry and it just clicks. An enjoyable romance to walk through, you will be glad you read this one.

I enjoyed this book

It's scary, you know, thinking we'll turn out like a parent that we didn't understand or that their illness will become our own. This cockroaches on those fears while telling a love story. I really enjoyed Cohen and Juliet and the relationships with their siblings.

Juliet and Cohen hook up after her sister's wedding. They have fun and she doesn't expect to see him again. But suddenly she figures out she is pregnant and now they have to figure it out together. She is the one who takes care of everyone, on task, busy. But Cohen is go with the flow very laid back kind of guy. Can they make this work for a baby? Cute start to this series.

Insomma... 2 stelle e mezzo

This was a good book. It was not my favorite that I have read. I was not a fan of how Levi and Cohean did not get along, I always like it when the brothers get along. I was not suprised either by Lindsey cheating I could see that coming. This book was just really underwelming. I did like how the sisters were able to resolve their issues and talk everything out.
