This was cute. From the writing and the way the story was told, I think this is more geared towards children, or at least a middle grade audience. Shine was a very sweet main character who was trying to piece her life together after her father and grandfather are killed while racing. With racing in her blood, she builds her own car and takes to the tracks. The story is told in flashbacks but it's not confusing and works with this format. I also really adored her little sidekick, Gabbo, who rode shotgun while she raced. Even though this was geared towards kids, it still packed an emotional punch and I rooted for Shine to come out on top. Definitely a fun one for your kids.
This was so much fun! It’s about a girl named Shine racing in this race called the bonk. There’s some sadness, so excitement, friendship, I kind of wanted more of it all though. I enjoyed the way the timeline flipping was done, it was clear to tell when your reading about. The art work is fun and colorful. I hope they aren’t done with the series I need to know more!
I was surprised with this one. I'll admit this is one I would have looked over because it's really not the style I like to read. Fortunately a good book samaritan brushed off my snobbish views and told me to just to read it. It's a cute racing story full of heart. I will agree with others it's more geared toward younger readers but, still an enjoyable read. Hop in your bonk racer and pick up a copy for yourself.
Psycho Bonkers, Volume 1: Full Throttle was fun to read. The artwork, the main character - everything's just bursting with adorableness. It is a coming of age racing story that has a few sad moments. However this was definitely not for me and more for a younger audience. While I won't be continuing with Volume 2 (if it exists), this was still a pleasant, feel-good read.
In a world where they’ve figured out artificial sentience and how to meld/bond humans to these AI’s of course the technology will be used to recreate Hannah Barbera’s Wacky Races. Expect my kids to enjoy this but not much there for the upper end of its “all ages fun” claim.
Instead of one so-so story from an Aspen Comic trade, this series first volume shows two that don't quite interlock and with two different tones. So, really, not for me.
Read Issue #2 since I couldn't find issue #1. The art was cute but I didn't really get the plot. It reminded me of the Pixar movie Cars and Wreck It Ralph oddly enough.
