It's Valentine's Day and Mister Mouse goes from house to house delivering Valentine gifts. From one little frog to ten little mice, Mister Mouse brightens everyone's day with two knocks on the door and a greeting of "Happy Valentine's!" Jeanne Modesitt's adorable counting book in rhyme is lovingly illustrated by Robin Spowart. The book also features simple, step-by-step instructions for making a Valentine's Day heart.
Cute, with plenty of repetition to make it good for younger listeners. Personally, I found it a little wordy and unappealing, but the kids liked it, so there's that. The illustrations are soft and inviting, if not visually striking.
A cute counting book with lots of repetition for Valentine's Day. Each page starts with "Mister Mouse with the big red box Goes up to the door and gives two knocks." At the first house, he gives one little frog with a big bow tie a pink pie. At the second house, two round pigs appear, and so on. It's a sweet story with a good rhythm and rhyme. The illustrations look like they have been colored in by crayons, and at the end are instructions for making a Valentine heart.
Cassie really loved this book. She loved counting with me as I read the pages and looking at the pictures. The pictures are not as colorful as other books we have read that is for toddlers. But, it's a cute book that is perfect for toddlers because of all the reparative through out the book. Cassie loved this book and would read it on her own in her own way. I thought the book could have a little more story-line but it was okay.
Cute counting book for Valentine's Day showing Mr Mouse delivering valentines to friends and neighbors. Reads a little long for very young listeners, though.
Like all counting books, this is a great way to involve your audience in your storytime. Modesitt's pink-and-red illustrations are fun and holiday themed.
I loved this simple counting book! Papa Mouse goes around and gives Valentine's gifts to the whole town, with counting and rhyme and repetition! Great read-aloud!
