This vividly illustrated history of the world spans from the time before the human race appeared on earth through 1988. At something like $20.00, it was an irresistible bargain. There is a sister publication called "Chronicle of the 20th Century" with 1,350 pages and 3,000 photographs.

This is a chronicle of events in world history in the form of a short newspaper articles, with photos or illustrations for many. The approach is gimmicky but it works, as it makes the information much more accessible than a typical reference book. It is an ambitious work due to the comprehensive coverage, but a consistent high standard of quality is maintained throughout.
