Eve is not excited about having to spend her time away from home at her parents' friends' cat-sitting business. But when a tiny kitten with sandy-colored fur shows up, he stands out immediately from the rest of the cats. She quickly learns that there is something special about this one. . .
Sue was born in Northampton where she still lives. For many years she worked for Northamptonshire libraries and remains a passionate supporter of Public Libraries. Sue loves everything about books, the feel of them, their smell. the way they look. And has a habit of matching a bookmark to the cover of each book she's reading. The process of reading, the feel of the book, carrying it around in her shoulder bag, sitting in favourite cafes reading all make for a complete sensory experience. Browsing bookshops old and new, talking all things bookish with other book lovers, spending time with other writers and meeting with fans of her own books at author events are her favourite things. That and eating good quality dark chocolate, while writing.
As turrinhas e o roçar nas pernas dos gatos aos donos significam libertação de odores!!!Manifestação de posse...;) São uma forma de chamar atenção e de pedir mimos!Mais mimos:)
These books are getting better and better as you get further in the series. I can't wait to find out if we get to read about Flame when he fights his Uncle Elbony.
Logan picked this out at the library. It's 5th in a series, altho' it looks like the books don't really build on one another, so I don't know that it matters. A magic lion from another world escapes his enemies by coming to the human world and disguising himself as a kitten. Well, a kitten who can talk to his temporary "owner," Eve, and do magic. It turns out to be a predictable story about how parents shouldn't saddle their older kids with their younger siblings so much. L of course loved the idea of having a magic kitten, but the plot was meh. He briefly talked about reading others in the series, but hasn't mentioned it since. The Warriors series is more to his liking. As he said recently, he "likes stories with heroes."
This time Flame is found by a girl who is helping to take care of all kinds of cats. Sounds like quite the kennel - 50 cats! Someone is causing mischief here - can Flame and and his new friend Eve figure it out before they have to go home?
This doesn't seem like a book 5 (especially since it's not written ANYWHERE in the book)! I can read it easily enough without having read the first four and not feel lost. I suppose readers who don't understand magic and talking animals might be confused, but that's rather rare, at least among younger readers. (I can't speak to more "traditionally-minded" and likely miserable adults who dislike fantasy stories, I suppose.)
The basic story is a lion prince casts a magic spell to disguise himself as an adorable stray kitten, then transports himself to another world (ours) to hide from his villainous uncle who wants to murder him. Lovely introduction! Anyway, Prince Flame encounters a young girl Eve, whose family is helping out at a kennel for Spring Break. They have delightfully mundane experiences together (with some surreptitious magic when Flame deems it necessary), tend to a sick cat Oscar who was in their care, and out of nowhere end up adopting Oscar into Eve's family... then Flame says, "My work here is done" and peaces out without even letting Eve say goodbye.
The ending rubs me the wrong way. Sure, Eve got *a* cat in the end, but the losing a pet (even if it's "just" to interdimensional travel) is a downer and feels a little out of place in this story. The art is cute, however, although the interior art is cartoony and a completely different feel from the more photorealistic kitten on the cover.
I initially wondered if Eve even liked cats, since almost the first thing she did was complain about having to help at the kennel and clean up cat litter. I would LOVE a(nother) cat and know all about the care and keeping of them, which is part of the cat experience. If you only want the cat and not the clean-up, visit friends who own cats.
Recommended for cat lovers who aren't put off by talking cats (I have a friend who dislikes Digimon at least conceptually, because he doesn't think they should talk like people).
It was a good book had pretty good characters but I probably wouldn’t read this again the mom was kinda stupid and annoying in my opinion the other girl was rude like half the book and it was kinda weird and sad at the same time for like the last pages it was like the whole plot of the book was all squeezed into the last 9 pages while everything else was meta it only took like maybe 2-3 (not counting breaks) so yeah read it if you want and you don’t have to read the series in any order all of this is my opinion and you can have your no hate to the people who love these

I just HAD to read one of these books. As a circulation clerk at a library, I see this series (as well as the other Magic series) come across my desk all the time. I wanted to see what the hubub was all about. Super cute read. Love the idea of my animals being able to talk with me so I loved reading how Flame could talk to Eve. I wish my kiddos were younger so these books would make their way into my home.
Flame has transformed into a sandy colored kitten to hide from his tyrannical uncle who is trying to kill him. This time we find him at a cat boarding house, and a girl called Eve finds him. He and Eve help a girl called Allison with her situation with her little brother and mother. This book teaches about understanding, communication, and honesty.
Another great story about Flame a magical lion/kitten. Flame is a young white lion Prince Flame must hide and disguise himself aa a.kitten and hide from his Uncle Ebony who wants to kill Flame, but one day when Prince Flame is older and wiser he will fight his uncle for his kingdom and throne. Flames has only Cirrus a old grey lion to help him. So Flame must go between his world and the other world and depend on a human kid to help him hide.He becomes a kitten and in the book he is a sandy colored kitten and he comes to a girl named Eve. And here cones a friendship and some magic too.
I read a lot of the books in this series as a child and I loved them! I'd say good books for third - fifth graders depending on reading level.
(having gotten a Goodreads account as a child, I added a lot of the books I read back then to my list - I have ultimately decided to keep them on my shelves because I like seeing my reading history)
My 5 year old daughter and me read these books together and she loves them! These our her new favorite chapter books and she can't wait to read the next one! It's magical, funny, and sincere all at the same time!
This one had a more complex plot than the others through the role of the older girl. For once, the conflict was not directly a problem the protagonist was facing.
