Well I suppose it is what I was looking for after a lengthy crime novel about a paedophile ring, something frothy and fluffy. It isn’t one of her best but it is a decent enough as a “holiday read” although I did find Leni a bit ditsy for my taste. With the exception of a brief exploration of Leni’s anguish when she unexpectedly encounters the guy who broke her heart, it is a light-hearted read, no stocking up on paper hankies required.
I think this should be a required read by all!!! Of was so fun and exciting, yet suck a suspense filled thriller!! Colossally action packed, heart warming, and soul satisfying adventure!!
Trying not to be so generous with my ratings this year so this one gets a 3.5 from me.
Easy to read and funny throughout. A good book to start a new year with as it was all about starting afresh and making changes but definitely written for a younger audience. Still enjoyed it though.
I love Shari’s books normally because she doesn’t humiliate her ‘hero’. However in this book she created the klutz who’s ‘comedy’ came from falling over. So bloody predictable from female authors. I’m sorry I actually paid for this now
It was a good read. I did there was a lot of drama following the main character. I was wondering what was going to come next for her. All in all a good read.

When I first picked up A Brand New Me by Shari Low the premise promised a fun and light story about a girl who tries to follow her New Year resolutions and change her life but boy, was I disappointed.
The first thing that I caught was that the story just screamed a "Bridget Jones’s Diary wannabe" at me. It’s not the exact copy but it’s pretty obvious that the author was inspired by Helen Fielding’s works and while I’m not a huge fan of the famous series, in comparison it turns out much better than A Brand New Me.
The main character Leni is quite irritating and it only gets worse and worse with time. After a few minutes spent in her head I was already getting annoyed, and same goes for the story, which failed to draw me in. In the end, what was supposed to be funny made me roll my eyes and want to finish the book faster.
While starting it I was hoping for a light literature for women, not challenging and just to enjoy and get my mind off other things. Plus, a few stereotypes about Zodiacs I could laugh at. Well, it was like it – and it wasn’t. At times the book got me really annoyed, because in my humble opinion it was filled with unnecessary things/evens/descriptions/what-you-may that took up time, but was neither funny nor particularly important to the plot. Leni, the protagonist, sometimes got on my nerves, especially because of her never ending dilemmas and thinking/talking about them too much. The style wasn’t always that smooth, either. It had its moments, but some parts seemed as if written with much difficulty.
There are only three books in my whole life which I didn't finish - this one belongs to them. I tried to read a typical novel for women...but it didn't work. Too many stupid stereotypes and thoughts I could not understand. Also it simply had nothing to fascinate me...neither the language nor the whole story or the characters.
It’s a fun easy read. A bit slow in places but I would recommend to people wanting a fun book especially at the start of a new year or someone looking for a bit of humour in a romance story. Characters were a bit shallow with their lack of description in places but not a problem when the novel is story based.
A mediocre story based on 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (especially when it comes to the main character's personality and behaviour), which I can't even call a pleasant page-turner, because Leni's adventures didn't interest me at all.
As someone who is equally as anxious, nervous and seeking self-improvement, I related to this book and its search for the perfect man. It's light-hearted, dramatic, humorous and inspires motivation and self-improvement. I enjoyed it and would read it again!
