4.5 stars. I love this kids book. I got this from the library many times when my oldest kids couldn't read yet. They loved it so much that they sang take me out to the ball game and recorded it into my phone so I could use it as a ring tone.
One day a grandmother shows up at her son's house and says to the grandchildren that they are going to go to a ball game rather than school. The kids' eyes light up and they start jumping up and down. They put on their NYY caps and head to subway station, looking out the window for the moment when the train comes above the ground, scanning for the stadium. Then the moment when they enter Yankee Stadium, everyone is giddy with excitement. By the time the seventh inning stretch rolls around, everyone is all too happy to sing take me out to the ball game.
For all practical purposes, this could be Wrigley Field rather than Yankee Stadium, so I really got into reading the book to the kids. Just thinking of the thrill of waking up, deciding to go to the ball game, the train, walking into the ball park, I am feeling like a kid again. I just ordered this from the library again in time for baseball season in hopes that my younger kids will get inspired to enjoy the grand old game with me.

The thing I like about this story was it was the grandma who takes the two kids to the game. I also got this book because it had a boy and girl in the story which my son and daughter always liked when they were younger.

This story is the ild baseball song which the reader can sing along to. Two children are taken to a ballgame by their grandmother who enjoys a fun time. The illustrations are entertaining and fun. The whole song with music score is at the end of the story.

This was a book that my sister gave to our family. A Scholastic book, I imagine it was purchased at a book fair sometime in the early 1990s. I enjoyed the illustrations. It seemed like the baseball players were based upon the Toronto Blue Jays.

This is merely an illustration of the chorus of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game". Cute, I suppose, but nothing special.
