وَأَصْدَقُهُمْ حَيَاءً عُثْمَانُ..
The words of Muhammad ﷺ, "the most sincere of them in shyness and modesty is 'Uthman" sum up the character of the great khalifah.
His time as the leader was spent in expanding the land of Islam far and wide, appointing excellent, able commanders and governors, and he was most forbearing with the rise of new evils and men who plotted against him.
'Uthman رضي الله عنه was the third best from the companions, he dealt with the people with softness and generosity and by favouring them over himself. His wealth was spent in financing many expeditions during the life of RasulAllah ﷺ, during famines in the time of 'Umar رضي الله عنه, and throughout his life he spent on the poor people and his family and on freeing a slave every Jumu'ah, and if he could not find one he would free two the next week.
Allah blessed him with wealth and then rewarded him with the opportunities to spend it to purchase what benefits the Muslims for the sake of Jannah. It was a pleasure to read the life of this man. It is a shame that his life ended the way it did, that was the beginning of all the turmoil and division we see today. The Saba'ites damaged us through the unjust murder of 'Uthman, may they remain cursed for all eternity all those hypocrites who had a hand in his death!
You see that after the peak of Islam was reached, the Muslims began to change. And as the religion spread to new locations, people with specific agendas to avenge their losses to the Muslims began to arise as the new hypocrites of the age. Working from within to incite rebellion and spread lies to depose governors and then the khalifa himself. There is a narration that Muhammad ﷺ refers to 'Uthman رضي الله عنه and says his character most resembles his own... When you see how he reacted to the rebels and how he prevented entire armies and many warriors from the Muhajireen and Ansar from defending him and taking lives in his defense, you are reminder of how RasulAllah ﷺ prohibited attacking of the hypocrites who plotted to kill him even after Allah revealed to him who they were.
Anyone who hates 'Uthman must be disavowed, for faith cannot remain in the heart of one who hates the foremost of the companions of RasulAllah ﷺ, let alone one who was married to two daughters of the Prophet ﷺ, and one who took it upon himself on many occasions to finance the entire ummah in its early days, the fourth of the Muslims by some narrations, the one who has the reward of Badr despite being left as a deputy in Madinah, one who only offered kind words and pleased his subjects more than he should such that he even said to some troublemakers that they only deal with him the way they do because he does not deal with them like 'Umar رضي الله عنه did.
May the curse and fire intensify on the hypocrites and all who plotted against and created hate for the sahaba without being ignorant. I could write much more..
