This book contains two separate novels - both of which are loosely based on fairy tales - Cinderella and Beauty & the Beast. The first was called Cindy & The Prince and I really enjoyed the light heartedness of this story. Cindy, who cleans offices for a living while attending school falls for Thorne Prince, whose office she cleans on a regular basis. She crashes a company ball where she meets and is entranced by him but midnight strikes and she must leave for her limo ride home.

The second book is called Some Kind of Wonderful and I found it had a much darker tone that was a little depressing, While all worked out for the good in the end, the struggle along the way was at times hard to take.

This book contained 2 stories of retellings about Cinderella and Beauty & the Beast which is why I enjoyed this book very much!!

I loved the way both stories were told. The plot, settings and characters all made for both stories enjoyable to read.

Can't wait to read more by Debbie in the future!!

I found it original that both stories are based on fairy tales. The romance is about courtesy and marriage. A nice book for by the pool.

Romance, clean
These are older novels reprinted for current reading. Both were written a while ago, but cute re-tellings of the Cinderella Story and Beauty and the Beast. For today's readers the heroines might not be as strong as one would like, and the hero's a bit too strong, but still a clever re-telling and re-imagining of these classic fairy tales.
Cinderella is Cindy and she cleans a big office building, sneaking into the company Christmas party on a tossed out invitation. She hides her secret all the while falling for the man who's office she cleans at night after hours. Cute story, and cute coming together.
Beauty and the Beast is the kind, and beautiful daughter of a shipping conglomerate that is slowly tanking. She is whisked away to his tropical island as part of a bargain not to sink the conglomerate that is slowly been driven to ruin by the Beast. Gradually they open to each other, he softens to her kindness, and she sees another side of him as they get to know each other. She opens his eyes to kindness for others, and for himself. Both strong characters, she was in particular to have worked into his heart. Definitely old school, but still a lovely read. I always love genuine, honest hearts, the Beast's was definitely hurting and needing some genuine kindness in his life.

Cindy and the Prince

Cindy Terrino is a part time student, part time janitor... Thorne Prince is an up and coming vice president - and Cindy cleans his office at night.

Teasingly pushed into going to the company Christmas Ball with an invitation thrown away by Thorne's secretary, Cindy and Thorne have a marvelous evening (after she rescues him from a bore - tells him she's disappointed in her Prince - that she is Cinderella - but then they dance). Some Kind of Wonderful

Judy (known as Beauty by her father) - preschool teacher of disadvantaged, kindhearted, eventempered, wealthy enough... her father is in shipping... and John (aka the Beast by her father) wants her father's company... John - self made man, ruthless, focused, orphaned, lonely, owns his own island paradise - sees a picture of Judy in a newspaper and thinks she is different... sets forth a bargain with her father that if Judy willingly comes to his island he will not call for immediate payment of the loan... her father said no, but Judy overheard the conversation, and said yes...

for 3 months, Judy lives happily on the island... growing in her love and understanding of the unruly John - handling him with grace and acceptance of her circumstance... John's feelings grow for her, and terrify him... he builds a school and a clinic on the island to please her... she finally asks for release to go home for her brother's wedding - and he very reluctantly lets her go, saying cruel things to her... and she knows right away that she wants to be with him... and her sister in law encourages her to take her fate into her own hands and return to him with the expectation of marriage... and she does, and he is exceedingly happy... ahhhhh

Fairy Tale Weddings contains two previously published Debbie Macomber novels: Cindy and the Prince (1987), a modern version of the story of Cinderella, and Some Kind of Wonderful (1988), a modern version of the story of Beauty and the Beast. Both were happy, joyful reads for the holiday season that affirmed the miracles of the old fairy tales.

Cindy and the Prince is the story of Cindy Territo, a computer programming student by day and maid by night for the offices of Oakes-Jenning Financial Services. Cindy and fellow maid Vanessa find an invitation to the company Christmas ball. Nightly Cindy cleans the office of the handsome, young first vice president Thorndike Prince. With the discarded invitation, she has the opportunity to be Cinderella for a night. Predictable, but heartwarming story of how Cindy ends up with her Prince.

Some Kind of Wonderful is the story of Judy Lovin, whose father Charles Lovin refers to as Beauty. Charles' shipping business is being threatened with hostile takeover by John McFarland, a wealthy entrepreneur who Lovin refers to as the Beast. McFarland, who lives on a privately owned Caribbean island, says that he will call in the loan keeping the Lovin business afloat unless Charles sends his daughter Judy to McFarland's island for an indeterminate time. It is a test of sorts to see if Lovin loves his daughter or his business more. Charles refuses, but Judy hears of the deal, and accepts to save her family's business. Judy slowly melts the icy heart of the Beast. Eventually she is allowed to leave the island only to voluntarily return. I thought that Some Kind of Wonderful was the stronger of the two stories and the reason I rated this book four stars. Definitely a holiday keeper.

I enjoyed both of these stories. The first was a modern take on Cinderella. I thought it was an interesting take. I never imagined Prince Charming would be so grumpy. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story. The second story was a modern take of Beauty and the Beast. I was curious how the author was going to create a beast and was glad for the absence of magic and that the beast wasn't physically a beast, but just cruel and heartless man. A beast in every sense of the word, except in appearance. Not that I'm against magic, I just didn't see how it would work in a modern setting. Another good story by Debbie Macomber.

This book was average to say the least. It was predictable, cheesy, yet still cute. While there were aspects to both stories I liked, the unnecessary drama was too much for me. Example: I love him but I shouldn’t love him. I want to be with him but we’re just too different. Then at the end she realizes she loves him and she has the whole time. The end. For both stories.

There was nothing inspired about it and it came off like something she wrote in the course of a weekend. I don’t regret reading this book, but I won’t be reading it again.

I enjoy Debbie Macomber's work. This particular volume reinvents two traditional fairy tales: Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. Both have slightly simplistic approaches to the problems each protagonist faces. There were times, especially in "Some Kind of Wonderful" that I wondered if the plot could actually happen. Yet, those are attributes of fairy tales. There are real problems and people behaving badly, but in the end truth and good win.

Nice updated version of two classic tales (Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast) where the women are not quite the stereotype. The Prince in "Cindy and the Prince" was a lot more likeable than the "Beast in Some Kind of Wonderful"; but then I guess that was the point. Lots of kissing but that's as far as it went. Reprints of Macomber's early efforts, these are a fluffy, fun read.

Two more relaxing reads by Debbie Macomber. I love reading these when I don't have anything else to do. Cindy and the Prince is a take-off of Cinderella and Some Kind of Wonderful is a take-off from Beauty and the Beast. Both are fanciful, beautiful stories ... wonderful for a night when you can't sleep.

two amusing updates of two classic fairy tales. I enjoyed Cindy and the Prince, the Cinderella update more than the updated version of Beauty and the beast.

Two fairytales romance books that have been updated into this paperback for a great price. It is great that Debbie Macomber re-introduces her older stories so avid fans can get caught up on her backlist books. I always enjoy her stories and these two were especially fun to read:

1) Cindy and the Prince: A funny and romantic tale of Cindy who falls in love with a "Prince" and attends a ball that mimics her own Cinderella story. I really enjoyed the characters and they had to overcome a meddling scorned ex.

2) Some Kind of Wonderful: This story is about Judy, who was uprooted to live on a fabulous island in order to help out her father's business. I ended up sympathizing with the "Beast" McFarland as he had a tough childhood and it took him a longtime to let down his guard and admit that money could not make him happy but rather the relationships around him were more important. The story has the Beauty and the Beast references, which make it for an intriguing fairytale. I found the island setting to be enchanting.

1.5 stars

This is technically 2 stories in one.

The first one: Cindy and The Prince. Not great. It feels really weirdly paced. The writing kind of reminds me of early fanfic/wattpad style writing. The romance is so rushed. I never felt like they were a believable pair. They knew each other for literal hours and my man is like "I will marry her and we will be together forever". Like ???? This story gets 0.5 stars honestly.

The second one: Some kind of wonderful (?) It was fine? It's better than the first one but it's still not great. It's so confusing why the "beast" even wants her on the island in the first place??? And she falls in love with him for what? Suddenly she has feelings for him and he's just an asshole majority of the time until the end when he builds stuff for her because she likes humans and he doesn't. This gets 1 whole star.

Both stories were written fir the Silhouette series. Some Kind of Wonderful was book #2 in that series.

Enjoyed Cindy and her Prince immensely. See my post of that book as a professional with a professional student by my side training.

Some Kind of Wonderful was a bit more dark… or I was myself a bit dark as my father was passing as I was reading this. He passed on 7/30/21 and it was over quickly and it was shocking even though we knew it was coming. So this may be why I found this novella so much more darker than others so had not been the case. It’s unusual for me not to enjoy myself in reading Debbie’s books. But these were not usual circumstances for my life during these last days of my father’s life.

Boy, Debbie Macomber has improved so much as a writer. I have read many of her books, so I went ahead with this one. The first story, Cindy and the Prince, wasn't too bad. It's like the movie Maid in Manhattan. But the second story, Some Kind of Wonderful, is not romantic at all. It is deeply disturbing. John McFarland is trying to buy the business owned and run by Judy's father. He decides that he will not bankrupt them if they send July to his private island. The fact that he would make this deal, and that Judy goes and falls in love with him, is wrong on so many levels. Please, don't write any more stories like this. It is just creepy

This one of Debbie Macomber's books is a little different, in that they are new versions of fairy tales..kind of. I liked them a lot, as I usually do anything she writes. It was a quick read, that I loved. The second story in the book was a bit harder to just loose myself in, as I just don't like the premice of a woman sacrificing herself for her family to a beast of a man. It just seemed off. But I let myself fall into the story and ended up enjoying it.

Simply put, I just love Debbie Macomber novels. She is my go to for cozy romance books. I always love her characters and her little towns she creates in her stories. I would compare her novels to lifetime movies. They have that warm, fuzzy community feels. I liked both of the stories in this book. My favorite was the second story. I liked both of the male characters in the stories. I loved their dominance & roughness LOL Oh geez did I just type that?! LOL

This was my mother-in-law's favorite author, so while I was cleaning out her office I took a stack of Debbie Macomber books to remember her by.

I figured they'd be cheesy romance, but dear lord this was awful. I don't generally rate books that I DNF, but holy hell I literally threw this across the room after the first kiss. I read it aloud to my husband and he was so weirded out and then I told him it was his mom's 😂😂 The old cover for this makes it even worse, haha!

two, two books in one. Ms. Macomber takes a modern look at the fairy tales of Cinderella and her prince and a new twist on Beauty and the Beast. She did her usual best to translate the mystical into current day life. one of hr characters says that "Fairy-Tales are transient. But Ms. Macomber doesn't hesitate to bring them to our times and places." So very true. I recommend this book for wonderful, restful reading.

These were 2 of Debbie Macomber’s early stories, Cindy and the Prince and Some Kind of Wonderful. Both were loosely based on fairy tales. It’s interesting how many of Debbie’s male characters are pretty angry men. What I like about Debbie’s heroines is that they are strong women who have great and loving hearts. If you want to enjoy a romantic, nice and sweet story, these two are for you.

Highly disappointed. Story jumps time at crucial areas, segmented writing where it does not flow as easy as I am used to. I almost did not read SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL after reading CINDY AND THE PRINCE but I found SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL way better. Would have given it one star for CINDY but will give it two for SOME KIND OF WONDERFUL. This author is off my reading list.

Fairy Tale Weddings consists of two short romances that are re-tellings of Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast. I enjoyed both stories, they were nothing exceptional, but fun light hearted romances based on the classic fairytales. I have always enjoyed Debbie Macomber's stories and these to short stories were no exception.

While the writing is incredibly engaging, both stories seemed to happen too quickly. I understand these are modernized fairy tales, but it's still too convenient.
