This is the 4th edition of Vegetarian NOSH for Students. Originally a sequel to a book inspired by the author's son, Ben, leaving for university, who was clueless in the kitchen. Toasted sandwiches and Mars Bars were his staple diet, but these didn't serve him too well! What was needed to encourage him to cook was an easily attainable taste of home, oh, and pictures with every recipe! Nosh for Students was born. Since then, Joy has helped over 500,000 students get cooking with her straightforward and simple approach. Joy helps to take the chore out of cooking, giving students a taste of success and making the experience so much fun. Voted Best Overall Winner of vegetarian student cookbooks by student-testers at The Vegetarian Society.
This has a wide selection of meals that vary in difficulty, but are all full of nutrients and are delicious (and will line the stomach well!). The roast sweet potato with couscous and balsamic vinegar is so yum, and the chickpea patties with yoghurt is also a favourite. The puddings are a good starting point to get in to baking too. Stock the cupboard and freezer with the basics and away you go. Much better than living on garlic bread and toast like I did for most of uni because we couldn’t be bothered to cook more than the occasional fajitas!
Perfect for students and non-students looking for healthy and affordable meals.
This book is also great for anyone learning the basics of cooking as it teaches you basics at the beginning of the book like: how to cook rice properly, different ways to cook potatoes, and fillings for baked potatoes and sandwiches. This is a welcome addition to the recipes in the book.
I have had this book for a few years now and cannot recommend it enough.
This is a good cookbook - some recipes work, others not so much, but its cheap food and if you love cooking then its fab. Just note, do not try the nut roast - disgusting! :( But most of the curries are fab!
