Rate this book
In 1776 England, American born Anadreya Macgregor is branded a spy by the arrogant Marquis of Canderlay. Despite her pleas of innocence, he refuses to listen and has her imprisoned. Aided by the Scottish father she never knew, Dreya escapes to Dragon's Breath Castle.

Five years later, the laird is missing and a badly injured Frenchman washes ashore. Dreya is wary of the blind and amnesic man, though something about him is hauntingly familiar. Is he an ally or a ruthless mercenary who stumbled upon her father's smuggling activities?

The stranger's vision and memory gradually return and Dreya discovers her fate and the continued existence of her clan might very well be in his hands. As the web of deception binding them together unravels, both are in danger of losing everything. Including their hearts.

Anadreya Richardson, prisoner, attempted to escape from the king of England to find her father and warning him but unfortunately he just got caught by Lucien, The Marquis of Canderlay which was the one who makes Anadreya / Dreya detained although they did not realize at first. And Lucien who from the beginning was curious when seeing Dreya, a woman who instead of enjoying the party that held by the King but seek out and seemed suspicious then followed her. Finally he let Dreya not because Dreya pointing a gun directly at him because with the position and strength of a man, Lucien able to resist Dreya. But there is another reason

And this is their first meeting and their first fate..
5 tahun kemudian..

5 years later..

Lucien is tasked with finding and capturing MacGregor on charges of betraying the King of England but he got an accident when sailed with his troops and sinking up to someone calling his name "Sebastian", his baptismal name that he had never heard for so long. Dreya find Lucien when Sebastian barking at Lucien's body that found floating at see. Lucien suffered blindness and memory loss.

Dreya forced to care for Lucien and keep them together and became close. Initialy they still did not realize that they had met five years ago. Although they often quarreled, but they do not deny that they feel attracted to each other even always wanted to meet. However Dreya always assume that Lucien was a pirate even more so after he realized who the real is Lucien and fear if next time Lucien remember who he is, so Dreya decided Dreya to arrest Lucien in dungeons that make Lucien confused and angered even more so after he fought to save Dreya’s Dog which almost dead and the scene that occurs after the rescue (though they do not to sleep together, but the scene is pretty hot ) so he decided to arrest Dreya back to the dungeons as revenge when he was rescued by Dreya’s cousin who was a Lucien’s friend and also because he was jealous of them and which he is supposed them a lovers

After the escape, Lucien met the King of England and found that the King already worked with someone who is very wicked to catch Dreya’s father and in return to get a Dragon Castil (Dreya’s Castle). Lucien began to realize that he loves Dreya and can not live without her and also realize what is actually happening so he decided to find her father to rescue Dreya and even he don’t care about his family’s title and property that are depleted due to the defeat of his father in the gambling.

Did Lucien found MacGregor and rescued Dreya before it's too late because Dreya has been detained by the bad guys? Then how about their relationship that based on misunderstanding and hatred even though they can not deny that the attraction between them has been around since the beginning they met and developed slowly and sustainable?

Bagaimana pendapat anda tentang crita ini?

What do you think about this story?

There are many things that make me love with this book: from the beginning i reading this book, I was convinced that the story must be good, started reading it, I felt I like to continue reading and a variety of flavors emerged : from the pleasure of enjoying the interaction / attraction between Lucien and Dreya, their argument but feel longing if not met, additional player / supporting player as a midwife who can predict the future is also able to guess a sense of which is owned by Lucien and Dreya which they always deny, Dreya cousins who are also taking an important role even made me think hopefully there is a story about Derek later and the last one is curious about the ending of the story and sometimes anxious and hope there is no worse thing happen with Dreya. And one more thing when Lucien let Dreya go that because he was interested in him since the beginning they met five years ago, um ...

And for you who love with pirate story or romance that occurs at sea, it is recommended to read this story.

Happy Reading ^^

While Anadreya Richardson, Dreya for short, is trying to escape the tower, she comes across Lucian Sebastian Spence, the Marquis of Canderlay, the very man who had her arrested for treason just because she sent a letter to America, warning her family they were about to be invaded.

Five years later, Dreya meets Lucian again and saves his life. Now Macgregor, she has taken the name of her true father and lives in Scotland. She doesn’t remember him, he has amnesia, and he is blind. This is just a little part of the conversation they have after he finally wakes up:

“Have you any children, monsieur?”

“A strange question, mademoiselle. Are you offering your services?”

“Certainly not, but I swear if you do not release me, you’ll lose any chance of a future heir.”

Without knowing who he is, Dreya is calling him a pirate.

“Let’s compromise, shall we? You stop addressing me as pirate, and I’ll consider treating you like a lady.”

“Why should I trust you?”

“Mon Dieu, such a stubborn woman.” He shifted both her wrists into one hand before he seized her chin with the other. “But I don’t mind at the moment. In fact, I’m retracting my offer of a compromise.”

He planted a kiss upon her mouth. Dreya sank her teeth into his lower lip. “You little vixen—”

“Do that again and I’ll slit your throat while you sleep.”

“No, mon amour, I’ll not sleep with you in my bed.” He had the audacity to offer a full grin. “Nor will you.”

Appalled, she jabbed her knee into his sensitive area.

The man who blew up Lucian’s ship and almost killed him is searching for him as well as for Dreya’s father who has been helping the colonies.

This is a wonderful book for the historical romance lovers! I totally love the main characters and the relationship between them. I added some samples, aren’t they great? It deserves the 5 stars I rate it.

The McGregor 's Daughter

This is a clean read. It has romance, intrigue and adventure. The characters are likeable but the story drags a little in places.

It was clean read. I enjoyed the realtionship between Lucian and Freya. But I'd like to see more romanticism in it. Then it would have been 5 stars!

Romance, daily life, intrigue, pirates, kings, dogs, horses and so much more. This book has it all and packages it in a thrilling and romantic read.

Moving from the castle to England and back, this is an exciting book. I loved the development of the characters of Dreya and Lucian and also Edwina who really livens the book up. I liked the view of everyday life, it worked nicely against the excitement that was building and added to the story very nicely, giving another dimension of what life was like for Dreya. This book gets you from the very beginning and I was always trying to figure out what would happen next. Then the events unfolded and I was so caught up I lost track of time (and I was on the treadmill so that's saying something). The romance has great tension, you can tell these two like each other, but they don't want to. It has a sensual side to it, but stays on the sweet side which I can appreciate in a romance. But you can feel the heat between these two and that makes it a great romance.

I haven't read much from this time period, but really liked it for a change from the typical historical romances. Set towards the end of the American Revolution, but in England and Scotland was very interesting, though that part was mostly a backdrop for the story and setup for the events to come.

The addition of the Scottish brogue was a little difficult to read at first, but don't let that turn you off. It eventually becomes second nature and I appreciated it because it really helped me discern the different characters better. It was like hearing their voices in my head and I enjoyed it.

So when it is all said and done, The Macgregor's Daughter is an excellent historical romance. Lots of intrigue and excitement are in this one as well as well-developed characters. It's an enjoyable read from start to finish and I look forward to reading more of Ms. Julian's books in the future.

The Macgregor's Daughter by Dee Julian was a fantastic read! From page one I was enthralled with this title.

When a man washes up on shore to the island that Dreya Macgregor lives on, she is certain she has seen him before. Blind and without memory, Dreya and Edwina nurse the man back to health. Unsure of how he is still alive, he finds himself fighting for his memories and his heart.

Dreya never expected to be fighting for her own heart, when she realizes that this man is Lucian Adams, the very man that she once held at gun point. At her recognition of Lucian, she has him thrown into the castle's dungeon for fear he might recognize her as well.

With the help of a friend and Dreya's cousin, Derek Reed helps Lucian regain his memory and escape back to England, where he intends to turn Ethan Macgregor, Dreya's father, in for treason. When faced with the King, he finds he cannot betray the Macgregor's or the woman he now realizes he loves. Relieved of his duties to the King, Lucian learns that another pirate, and the man that almost killed him is sent to retrieve Macgregor. Fearing for the woman he loves, he heads back to Dragons Breath Castle to save Dreya and her father.

Will Dreya return his love or will she have him hung? Most importantly, will Lucian even make it back to the island before the pirates aboard 'The Predator' can do the King's bidding? Find out in this fascinating tale, The Macgregor's Daughter.

Julian did a great job in this historical romance. Chocked full of suspense and romance, this is one title you won't want to miss. Enticing, exciting, and a page turner to the end.

I give The Macgregor's Daughter ***** (5) Stars, BK Walker.

The only thing that prevents me from giving this book four or five stars is the slow moving love story. While it's understood that Dreya--our heroine--and Lucian--our hero--got to know one another while he recuperated on the Macgregor clan's island, but it felt as if the reader was left longing for something else. The adventure was certainly there...the staunch, staid Englishman who begins to understand another point of view...the spunky and independent heroine. But somehow, the love story itself missed the mark a bit. Where was the fire and passion between them? Their encounters fell a bit flat. I didn't turn the last page with a happy sigh. Instead, my reaction was more, "Okay."

The author's writing is superb, and I believe as she writes more, her books will only get better with each one. Overall, it was an enjoyable read.

Fantastic historical romance with very strong female lead, more than a dash of intrigue, and a charming rogue of a hero who lost his memory of a past crossing with the leading lady which would have put the two squarely on opposite sides if they'd only recognized each other when they next met.

But they didn't, and left to their own devices developed enough conflict and tension to an almost comic-tragic level that kept the story moving with a nice pace, and a great deal of entertainment.

A new author for me (as they all are at some point!) but one who shows a great deal of talent in both wordcraft and storycraft. I'm not a romance junkie, (cough, cough, denial, cough) though I love romantic comedies. And this one is not at all steamy - so that may disappoint others whose tastes run to the explicit in their romance reads - but I enjoyed this one 100%.

this book was okay. i might have liked it more if i hadn't been led to believe it was a romance.

the chemistry between lucas and dreya was... a bit forced. i didn't really see any developing feelings at all, and his confession in the end summed up their romance perfectly: "i'm in love with you, and i have no idea how it happenned."

the plot was interesting, though. i like the bit of intrigue and adventure. was he bad? was he good? if the plot focused a bit more on the mysteries and just hinted on the romance instead, it would have been even more interesting, i think. just a thought.

overall, an okay read. i didn't love it, but i didn't hate it either.

Delightful story

A young American lady finds herself in England arrested as a spy because she had written a letter to her cousin. The letter actually mentioned the English Navy was headed to America and the English wanted it to be a secret. This being 1776. Years later we find her on a Scottish island with her biological father.
