Immortality, power, psychic abilities, wealth and a cool wardrobe. But it comes with a few fatal sun poisoning and a new, irreparable dental problem. But aside from the fangs and nocturnal lifestyle, itâ s not so bad. Until Kyrian meets the most frightening thing imaginable. An accountant whoâ s being hunted by one of the most lethal vampires out there. If Amanda Devereaux goes down, so does he and no offense, he doesnâ t want to die (hence the whole immortality thing). And he doesnâ t want humanity dead either which is a good thing for us since he and Amanda are all that stands between us and oblivion. Letâ s hope they win. From the wild imagination of Sherrilyn Kenyon comes the humorous and suspenseful manga debut of the #1 internationally bestselling Dark-Hunter series. The world of manga will never be the same again.

An original English-language manga apparently based on a series of novels by Kenyon (the Dark Hunter series). Very interesting story - I particularly liked how the tales of Roman Gods and lore is melded with modern vampire lore. And the vampire lore has a lot of twists and turns that I've never read before. In this volume, we're focused on the folks that oppose the vampires and daimons. We have sexy, 2000+ year-old dark hunter (Kyrian) and a young woman with special abilities (Amanda). The two are thrown together by other-worldly circumstances and find that they're up against a very unique and dangerous daimon... Some snappy dialogue and some 'not always believable' attraction between Kyrian and Amanda (mostly due to the 'love talk' at such moments). But overall I really enjoyed the fresh spin on a popular supernatural plot...

Fidèle en ce qui concerne les faits (et un bon moyen de se replonger dans l'histoire si on veut se rafraîchir la mémoire), mais le graphisme est à ch... et ça pèche sur le plan émotionnel/sensualité

Brought to you by Guest Reviewer Jessica

When I first heard that the Dark-Hunter books were being retold and retooled in manga, I wasn’t sure if I was excited about it. When I heard that the Dabel Brothers would be involved, I perked up. I’ve enjoyed their treatment of Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time novel, New Spring, and knew that the art would be excellent (though I notice their name isn’t on volume two, so… at least their initial involvement eased my worries).

I was a slacker fan and didn’t pick up the first volume, which came out last year, until I saw volume two, which released this March, on the shelf. Fortunate me! I got the whole of this story arc in one sitting. The first two manga books cover the story of Kyrian of Thrace, whose story Sherrilyn Kenyon initially told in Night Pleasures. Now I’m going to share why this series is a guilty pleasure of mine: the Dark-Hunter series is paranormal romance, and as such there are some lovely, juicy sex scenes in the novels. I was very curious to see how that translated into manga. I was pleasantly surprised by that aspect of the original stories being glossed over. Intimate acts are implied, Nick comments on Kyrian getting laid, but it’s nice and safe for the Teen/13+ crowd this is rated for, and only risque when we get to see a fair bit—but obviously not too much—of the Dark Hunter Talon (whose story will be told in the next two volumes of the manga series).

Joshua Hale Fialkov’s adaptation of Sherrilyn’s story works beautifully with Claudia Campos’ art, and once I remembered the right-to-left reading style of Japanese manga—it’s been a while, alright?—reading and seeing the story unfold was a pleasure. My fear of this style of art making these dreamy beefcake male characters too effeminate was unrealized; though Kyrian is very, very pretty he’s still the manly man, and seeing him as an ancient Greek general is no stretch. Acheron is the perfectly mysterious bad boy, and seeing him drawn reminded me how young he was when he stopped aging.

Thank you, Sherrilyn Kenyon and Claudia Campos. I didn’t know it was possible to drool over manga-style men. Bravo!

I’ve gone from leery of this new medium for a beloved series to excited. Volume three is scheduled to hit the shelves September 28, 2010, and I suspect I’ll be at my local Dark-Hunter Volume 2 cover store (a convenient walking distance from my office) to scoop it up that day.

This is not as good as I thought it would be. I feel it lost so much of what made the story so good. Too much bouncing around. It has been a while since I read the book, over two years. I was lost on who was who, what was what. The graphics were good, not great, just good. I haven't read manga in a while, but when I did read it, I was really into it. I will give the second installment a chance, but if that doesn't spark more interest I will not continue.

I'm not if I could give this a fair review as I picked this up because of pure curiousity because I love Sherrilyn Kenyon and LOVED "Night Pleasures " which is 2nd in the Dark Hunters series. This is Night pleasures made into a graphic novel.....to me it wasn't worth the price I paid for it, between the left to right reading the zig zagging back and forth the cartoons with the bubbles over their heads....it was all distracting to me.this also was not the complete book as there will be several more before the story is completly told...so imagine the money you will be spending just for the finished book. The novel was amazing, this manga/cartoon book was lacking. I guess it was ment for a different audience. There was no character development, no build up of the plot, was there romance...yes, but nothing compared to the novel...it made me go back and re-read the novel just to make me fall in love with it all over again.

Mini-review:

I love Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunter series (plot holes, Deus Ex Machina [literally!], and all), but I don't think the graphic novel version fully took advantage of the visual format. The book is very dialogue heavy. The artist Claudia Campos relies on repetitive panels to create a a mood, be it awkward pauses or tense waiting, and unfortunately the artwork is occasionally wonky when it comes to perspective and human anatomy.

Still I enjoyed it and it was nice to reread Amanda and Kyrian's story (spans vol. 1 & 2), and I look forward to seeing Talon and Sunshine's books as well as improvements in the storytelling and artwork!

FINALLY I GOT MY HANDS ON THIS GRAPHIC NOVEL!

I have loved Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark-Hunters series since it first came out. I was so happy to find out that she also had the graphic novel. Since I love Kiryan's story, I couldn't not love the manga version. How I imagined the characters in my hear was a little bit different on how they were portrayed in the manga, but I guess that's normal. The story was the same as the book, so in my opinion it was like reading the book due also to the graphic novel length.

I'd recommend this book to whoever loved the Dark-Hunter series and is curious on how the author imagined the characters.

Can't wait to see how this graphic novel will turn out. I already read Kyrian and Amanda's story, so can't wait to see if this is as good as the novel.

Not what I expected. It was a bit too PG-13 for me that it took away some of the emotions and reality of the story. And they did just briefly metioned some scenes and just left it that way. I couldn't feel anything strong as when I read the novel, but graphically it was OK. Some of the profiles of the characters are beautiful drawn but then it lacks some good action and love scenes.

Ths graphic novel was excellent!

Granted this is the first one I've read on my nifty new Kindle Fire so... I may be praising it more than usual since I was just loveing my Kindle Fire.

The story wasn't original at all, but I enjoyed it anyway. IT was a decent paranormal romance. The graphics were great.

Nothing else I can say really.

It was very cool having the art to go along with the story. Kyrian's has always been one of my favorites, so this was so perfect to me!

3.5/5- I feel like a lot of the story was missing?

I haven’t read the Dark Hunter’s series yet - BUT - after reading this manga I want to read the first book and see what was LEFT OUT!

Personally for me, this manga has WAY TOO MANY WORDS ON THE PAGE! It’s slows the reading way down. Less is more in manga for me.

There’s no steam either. Kissing and lying in bed dummy clothed is not adult PNR.

————————————— 💠 ————————————

This is just my opinion:

I know that there are legions of Sherrilyn Kenyon fans out there and that’s really awesome. I thinks she’s cool but is slightly manipulative in how she presents her work. At the end of this manga she leaves a letter for the reader talking about her love of manga and anime. And how this book is a dream come true. FOR ME, I don’t like when an author spreads their love for something of theirs on thick. It’s usually am indication that they know it’s not working. I watched my favorite author do it and I’ve seen SK do it a lot — especially on Facebook. It’s annoying and unnecessary. But hey, you do you. This isn’t meant as a personal attack, this opinion is based on what was in the book.

I JUST HAVE TO SAY
Everything by Sherrilyn Kenyon makes me happy so this post is probably biased and the review didn't turn out to contain much in regards to the managa.

MY RATING ★★★★★

RATING EXPLAINED
5 - AMAZING! Just always amazing

REVIEW
So there I am at Dragon con when I see Kenyon's booth and I happily knock people out of my way as I skip over to her tables. Then I have a fangirl moment when I see some new stuff (cause I haven't been keeping up) and gush out "When did this become a managa!?!" to my dude friends who weren't paying attention. Luckily, the nice lady behind the counter heard me and didn't make me fee stupid for not knowing it's been out for almost a decade.

AND THEN she got the book signed for me and I read the crap out of it which is a perfect adaptation of the book and vol 2 here I come!

I thoroughly enjoyed this little number!

Being an avid fan of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter Novels, when I found out this exsisted, I HAD to read it.

I was not disappointed in the least. It's so cool to see the characters you've read so much of come to life. To see them drawn on the page, up against what you had previously imagined, it's just good fun!

It's a good summary of Kyrion and Amanda's story with rereading the full length novel.

I do suspect though, it might have some difficulties for anyone reading the Manga/Graphic novel without firsthand knowledge of the story but then, maybe not.

I loved this so much!

I found this book in a bargain bin back in 2010 and read it then. Just recently I found books 2 and 3 in the series, so I've re-read it.

I haven't read any of Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter novels, so I don't know if this is an adaptation of one, or a new story. In any event, it's an enjoyable read and presents a slightly different take on vampires.

The artwork (by Claudia Campos) is in manga-style, but with more Western influences than most manga.

I’ve read all of the Dark Hunter books and all of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s books in general except the mangas. So I picked up volume one. It was alright. It is half of book one of the Dark Hunter series but at at PG-13 level. The artwork is good for the most part and the scripter did a good job in working in the book dialogue into the different scenes. Volume 2 has the rest of Nights Pleasure so we’ll see if the ending is just as good in the manga form.

Great Read and very detailed lore.I am new to Sherrilyn Lenyon “The Dark Hunter” series. So, I did not know what to expect but ultimately I enjoy reading this story.

Upon finishing this manga, I did a little research and found that Sherrilyn wrote novels that are connected to the characters displayed in the manga so I am intrigued to check out what they are about it !

when I heard that the Dark Hunters series was in Manga form, I HAD TO GET THEM!!! This volume and volume 2 focuses on kyrian and Amandas story.

It is very fast pased, and I got confused with the story a few times (I had to reread some scenes), but it's still very good!!!

If you want to read, I highly suggest you get volumes 1 & 2 at the same time, for kyrian and Amandas' complete story. 😊👍

This is the first manga that I've read, and I only read it because it was written by Sherri. I loved it! I loved being able to see what was going on, instead of just reading the book (which I have several times). Now onto Volume 2!

This is the first manga book I've ever read. It took me a little while to adjust my brain to the layout. I don't recommend reading these books on a tablet as the print is so little it is very hard to read.

Yes! i love these characters and the art, though it took me a while to get used to, is really good. Some editing was needed with some of the phrasing but over all well done. love being able to see how someone else depicts the characters. I will say, was that supposed to be Nick?
