Akihisa Ikeda (池田晃久) is a manga artist/manga-ka best known for the manga series Rosario + Vampire (ロザリオとバンパイア Rosario to Vampire). He's been a huge fan of vampires and monsters since he was a little kid. He says one of the perks of being a manga artist is being able to go for walks during the day when everybody else is stuck in the office.
I’m really starting to get into this series now, it’s really taking off! Moka is the best vampire girl 🥹🧛🏻♀️🖤 and here she gives Tsukune some of her powers by drinking his blood ! But is this only temporary or will he slowly turn into a vampire himself? Gin the werewolf is 😍 I hope to see more of him! Kuyo is a great villain, he is a Yoko (fire fox demon - think Ninetales from Pokémon!)
I think Rosario + Vampire is finally hitting it's stride. It's not quite as formulaic as it was in the first two volumes. There's a little bit of variety being added. Plus, I like vampire Tsukune.
Whoop a lot happened in this one, we get a proper battle with a big baddie for once, plus this means a turning point in Tsukune's life.
Yep, I wouldn't call the battles we had so far big, they are just small fry if you compare them to the Kuyo battle that takes place in this one. And it is not only about the battle, it is also about what happens to Tsukune in this battle, and how that will define his whole life in the end. It is a turning point for him, and even after the battle we have a whole chapter dedicated to this and how it is affecting Tsukune. If only they knew what they had done, I read the whole series so I know what is going to happen, but right now it is still sunshine and happiness, but I believe the next volume, or maybe the one after that is when poop will hit the fan, and it will hit it hard.
On the one hand I am not too happy that it was done at this stage, it feels too soon, too fast. But on the other hand, a lot of time passed, and considering what will happen in the next volumes it quite fits. Plus what else should they have done. These girls love Tsukune and they couldn't let this happen to him.
So the battle and the after effects take almost all the spotlight and time of this volume, however we have one chapter more, this time we have a new demon, and boy, she is evil. Then again, if this helps with maths, eh? :P The standard formula happens, and then the volume is at the end. Yay for Tsukune (and thanks to Moka), sorry Kurumu, at least you tried.
It is quite amazing to see how Tsukune's art switches. I wish the author would just stick with this new art instead of the older one.
I am a bit annoyed with all the guys in this book. Tsukune is almost the only one who isn't super-horny and gets possessive when he spies a girl, or multiple girls. It is something that makes my eyes roll. Especially if there is an ensuing battle.
All in all, I quite loved this volume. Not only because of the battle, but also what happens to Tsukune and how it is affecting him, and also his view on the world. He worries about his family, about his normal life. I am happy that the author did this, it fits with Tsukune's personality to worry about these things. More often than not what you see during such a turning point in someone's life is that they tend to go power crazy and just not think about consequences. Tsukune however tries to get to terms with what happens, he is thinking about what it means to his normal life.
Also plus points to the cover! I just love inner Moka, and this pose on the cover is love!
Rosario+Vampire Volume 3 continues the fun in this awesomely, action-packed monster manga!
I am totally digging this manga! Undeniably so! I just can't get enough of this super fun high school drama. It's childish at times, but super fun and addicting. It's easy to just sink into and forget about the world. To top it all off, this series just keeps getting better. It's not always just Moka getting all the action in, plus there's new drama around every corner.
I'm glad they still introduce random monsters throughout but have changed the general formula of this book. It's not just introducing a new monster to fight every single chapter. Now there's plot lines to follow and continued drama. I like that this series is growing! It makes me only way to read it more.
I found myself really disconnected with the story and the characters in the first chapter, but as soon as a come back of one of the most threatening villains (so far) appeared I was instantly drawn in and remembered just how bat-shit insane this volume gets! Seeing the Newspaper Club fighting together to protect Tskune was too adorable and I can't wait to see more about what happens to Tskune! There wasn't much of a major plot this time round with the focus being on the end of semester test, but it made for an interesting new villain to arrive. I would have liked to see more of the rest of Tskune's friends later in the volume, rather than just in the beginning. I am feeling that each chapter kind or resolves itself at the end and has no relation to the rest of the volume, so that's one point that annoys me, nevertheless, I still enjoyed this reread!
The new developments were nice touches. Good to know that a certain character (Werewolf newspaper editor) is not merely one-dimensional. I also liked the returning villain. Though the ending of more than one battle was not ultimately resolved by the god-like vampiric powers, I am unsure about where the author is headed. Onto Volume 4! It promises to be exciting! Monsters get summer vacation.....who knew?
After taking a long break from this series I've gone back and reread the first 2 then started this one. I really liked this one, whereas the ones before had a different day each part in the book this one followed on from the last. I liked it more as it had become a bit quick to end each story in the previous ones so this was a bit longer. I really like this series and the more I read the more I want to know.
I feel like this was much better than volumes one and 2 for some reason, which is odd since they're basically the same exact thing except with different bad guys that 'need to learn their place' I think it's because this volume was funnier and showed how strong their friendships are even though he's human :D
Every chapter there is a new bad guy. Every chapter Moku or Tsukune saves the day. It's rather repetitive and uninteresting, but I keep reading hoping it gets better. I actually enjoyed the Lamia chapter, that was the first bad guy I actually thought was intriguing.
After reading this I can definatly say that the manga is superior to the anime as it handles the battle with the School Police a lot better. As Gin gets a much better redemption moment then he did in the anime. Also we get more character development for Tsukune and even see him become more involved in the fights instead of him just being useless unless its removing Moka's Rosario.
In this third volume of Rosario + Vampire, things take a dramatic turn in terms of the overarching plot. Namely, the manga changes in that it actually has a plot now. Before now, the whole series has been mostly a “monster of the week” style of adventures, wherein the various enemies and supporting protagonists were introduced into the world of Yokai Academy.
Now, things are changing, as actual story arcs are being introduced, and various plot devices that will bear fruit later on have come up in the stories. This is a good thing, but also a bad thing.
You see, the charm of the manga series has always been it's light-hearted slice of life story format. Seeing the adventure of Tsukune and Moka and their friends as they have one zany escapade after another was the draw to this series. This hasn't been eliminated yet so much as it is slowly being altered to introduce more myth arcs to Rosario. Personally, I'm all for having some interesting plots that are more, shall we say, epic, but this only goes so far. I don't want the series to lose it's fun and take itself too dramatically seriously. This should remain a fun series, not become some heavily emotional drama.
Despite the uncertainty I have about the above possible changes, I have to say that the character development is really quite interesting. The students that before didn't like, or else barely tolerated, each other, are now more friendly towards each other, and the growth of this group of friends from adversaries to allies to close friends is touching and fun to watch.
This volume is an interesting continuation to the Rosario universe, and I can't wait to read more stories.
Rosario+Vampire, volume 3, is where the Rosario series really begins to pick up the pace. While volumes 1 and 2 are something of an introduction, introducing us to some of the characters and going through the daily life of a harem protagonist trapped within a school for monsters, volume 3 deals with the culmination of what I consider the first true villain and expands on the characters in a way that takes us somewhat out of the typical harem tropes.
I feel like volume 3 is a lot more intense and plot driven than the previous ones. There's still some typical shonen romcom stuff going on, but more than that, we're delivered a combination of character driven plot, drama, and a little bit of action. Of course, at heart, this story is still a harem manga, so while we have some intense action, the ending remains true to the story's original theme.
Despite how the story ends on a harem romantic comedy note, I can't bring myself to complain here. The amount of development given to our main protagonist, Tsukune Aono, is impressive. Generally, protagonists like him remain weak and useless throughout the series until the very last chapter of the whole manga. In this volume, I feel like Tsukune has taken his first step on the path toward becoming an actual badass and not just a wish fulfillment character. This volume also sets the stage for further development.
On the whole, I would say this is my favorite volume of the series so far. I look forward to seeing where the rest of this series takes me.
This manga is not terrible, let’s just say that. But it has a lot of problems.
The art is beautiful and I think the art itself is where the author’s talent lies most heavily, not plotting. The plots of each volume…pretty laughable to even try to identify them with the idea of ‘plot.’ The situations are so see through you know well before anything goes down just how it all will end.
Fan service is always appalling when it happens upon a page, though expected, but some of the scenes are too ridiculous and insulting to bear.
One of the biggest things that turns me off when reading is how unfoundedly every female creature flocks at the main character. It’s stupid, unrealistic and makes the volumes hard to get through. Tsukune has his modesty, his kindness and his loyalty going for him, but the ladies don’t recognize those attributes and use them as a basis for their undying love for him. The love is just thrown in there to make him look like a big shot, a young boy acting as a damsel in distress, needing savior from the girls around him.
I think what keeps me reading these books (despite having bought them all for really cheap and used) is the incorporation of different monsters and what possible ridiculous motives they might have. That, along with the arc of the Rosario and the tensions and connections it creates between Moka and Tsukune. In the end, I’m still going to read into the “second season” to see if it will get any better. First series : 2/5 stars
I think the first serie gets 4 stars while the Season II gets 5 stars.
The first serie is too predictable, almost the same simple plot occurs in each volume, the first volumes, that quickly gets resolved in the same volume. It's only in the last volumes that it starts getting more interesting. In the other hand Season II is much better, it has better plots, they last longer, and the villains cannot be beaten up solely by Moka this time, they all have to join forces in Season II. Tsukune is also more capable to defend himsef this time in Season II.
I personally like that the manga has strong female characters who can handle themselves most of the time. I really like the characters.
The drawings are quite beautiful, even more so in Season II, and the world in the background the artist created is amazing. It really feels like Nightmare Before Christmas, with creepy ruins all over the place, gloomy cemetaries and empty forests with dead trees, creepy school, pumpkins, etc. I've spent a lot of time admiring the background while I was reading.
The nudity might be an issue for some.
So I think if one is patient enough to get through a part of the first serie, and are not bothered by the nudity, will finally get to the better stuff later in the first serie... and to the much better Season II.
I'm still not horrified or wildly impressed by Rosario Vampire, even in volume three. For every chapter that I'm surprised by how well written the characters are, there's a really idiotic fan service chapter. Since I borrowed these, I feel okay about the fact that I can't make up my mind about the series, so since I'm not bored by it, I intend to press on. Plus, with the start of this volume going like it did, I now know exactly how I would have felt in high school if someone had accidentally animated an episode of Love Hina with a script for an episode of Naruto. It is unsettling, but certainly unique.
Bad news is going down for the gang as the school's protection committee discover that Tsukune is actually human and the rule of when a human's in roled in a school filled with monster must be put to death. The worse part of this is Moka knew he was a human the whole time and if anyone who was with him msut be put to death as well that includes his friends, too. How will the gang get this sitation before Tsukune is a goner? You'll have to read this issue to find out yourself.
its a funny book base on an average boy who gets in a school of monsters but hes the only human and if the rest find out hes died. The only reason he stays is becuz of moka whos a hot girl(vampire) She may look nice on the outside but when taken off her rosario she becomes a butt kickin vampire. Together Tuskine and Moka fight for survival, eachother, and their love
The series is staying interesting even though it is the same situation over and over again of Moka protecting Tsukune, hopefully it will get more complex so it doesn't get boring. It's a good manga though.
There was a fun playfulness about this series that I really enjoyed. The author threw in a healthy mix of comedic relief to each character and I loved how there were so many completely opposite personalities.
Tsukune and Moka fight a spirit fox and an evil lamia in this volume - Fun story, gorgeous artwork. I like how Moka's bite turns Tsukune into a vampire, giving him super-powers for a few minutes.
This one definately showed the bond that Tsukune has with his friends and how much really cares in the end. Hard to accept somethings thou for them. Its challenges.
This one is my favorite out of the first 3 cause this is where you start to get more story info. The first two had a repeated theme of a new opponent and defeating them.
