Like I have one more book to go and then I'm done and I can finally say I completed this series. It's not the series is bad, it's just not for me and that's fine.
I am really loving this series. To be honest, I think it may be one of the best YA series in the market today. I wish it would get more acclaim. The main characters are interesting, developed and strong. The writing is great and the story is captivating. I'm always glued to the pages.
***Spoiler alert!***
Wow, dark Edric is awesome. I HATE Conor! I hope they ditch him. He pisses me off. And oh man, what a way to end the book. Talk about a cliff hanger. I pretty much yelled at the book when I got to the end. So unfair to leave us hanging. I can't wait for the last book. This series has yet to disappoint me.
I've exhausted my interest in this series. I can count on one hand (at this point) the books that had beautifully written, romantic stories with passionate characters who fall in love against the odds, in spite of them, or because they just plain have the spark. Frewin Jones is no exception. I loved the romance and the quest-- in the first book-- but not in the 5th. I'll browse the 6th when it comes out, but that's as far as it will go.
Don't get me wrong, I still have a special place for the first. It's just that I can't continue, I have no strength left!
I'm starting to realize that the last few pages are worth the while with Frewin Jones. Unpacking the action, the climax of the narrative, and some cliffhangers are the ingredients that make me want to continue reading this not-so-good series, simply because I want my answers.
Sadly, besides this, I cannot think of a single thing that made me happy while reading this book. Actually, I was this close 🤏 to getting into a reading slump.
I cannot root for or feel for these characters. They are contradictory and borderline stupid. Their reasoning and personalities aren't well shown, and I think the author would thrive more by explaining what the characters are feeling instead of describing the scenery. We get it, picturing every detail is cool and magical, and it can be immersive and all of that, but it's not vital for what is going on. Every plot twist or victory just felt flat to me because I could no longer create a bond or connection with any of these characters.
I gave the Enchanted Quest a 3 1/2 star because I felt like this book was better than the others. It still is a kind of weird book, but I feel like the series gets better as you read along. This book says the G** word but besides that the book was okay. I still WOULDN'T suggest reading this book series because it will just waste your time reading it. And also the books weren't amazing. I feel like they are OK, but not the best book series. If you are going to read it I suggest being prepared for some weird. I also would recommend 11 and older because I don't think little kids would get what is going on in this book series.
The Enchanted Quest ( Faerie Path, #5) by Allen Frewin Jones. A strange and mysterious illness is taking over the land of Faerie, and a member of the royal family falls ill. Tania must go on a journey to find the cure. Her family, and the people of her land, are counting on her. The mortal Connor and Tania's sister Rathina, accompany her on the trip. The trio encounter many challenges and surprises they must overcome. The next book is he last will Tania fix the cure or will everyone die? I recommend this book to anyone who has read the other 4 books and children also adults.
I picked up the five book set at my favorite used bookstore. It sounded SO promising: a halfling if Fae and Mortsl blood, unicorns, a seventh child with a legend. Sorry. It became trite, predictable, and illogical. I was so glad that I hit the last novel, and it would make sense! No. There are abandoned characters. There are Fae folk left without redemption. There are perfect males that turn to the Dark Side. Even worse, the ending leaves so many loose ends. Pissed.
Tanya and the gang are now on the quest to save fairy. I won't lie I hoped Conner and Rathina would find love and it show that drake was not her true love. But that's wishful thinking.I I will say the ending was a mind blown moment. and left you wanting more.
Either I’m getting tired of the series or this book was not as magical for me. The romance felt forced (why did THAT triangle have to come up?) and the adventure felt so useless once we got to the climax. BUT the ending and the cliffhanger was captivating!
This series started out really slow. I almost gave up reading it but I am glad I didn't. It got better the further in the series I got. This book was exciting and kept my attention to where I didn't want to put it down. The the final book is as exciting.
Odd turn of events here. She lost her memories but now what? She’s the only one who has the information of where the plague came from, not how to defeat it.
The Enchanted Quest by Frewin Jones 5 of 5 stars. 5th Book in the Faerie Path Series
"Faeries tread the Faerie Path A trail that leads from Faerie Realm A ship upon the Western Sea Dark sister's hand upon the helm
"Into Alba, into Erin Enchanted quest to undertake An ill to cure, a truth to learn A life to lose for true love's sake"
Tania's adventures continue as she sets upon a quest to save the Immortality of the people of Faerie. With Rathina and Connor by her side she must unravel clues and mysteries spun to her by mystical being she isn't sure she can trust. They will cross mysterious and dangerous lands on their journey to save the Realm from a plague that is running rampant. Trouble comes from near and far to bar their way to the Divine Harper, but a trouble they cannot begin to imagine is hiding in their midst. Dark secrets lying before them, and even darker ones lying among them. As their trek takes impossible turns the group is reminded that nothing is impossible with true love. But love is a strange and rare thing indeed with Rathina's beloved but malevolent Gabriel Drake long gone, Connor's seemingly unrequited love for Tania, and Edric's soul being eaten away by the Dark Arts. But new and old friend will return to help them along their quest as they work to fight the impossible. All the while they struggle, Rathina and Tania's strength and the strength of their family is being sapped away to fuel the Gildensleep that covers the land of Faerie. Will Tania finish her quest in time to save Faerie or will their endurance fail them before all is done?
And so the adventure continues. I must say this fifth book did a good job of keeping me on the edge of my seat all the way through. There were so many questions I was dying to have answered from, "Will Tania end of with Edric or Connor?" to "Is the door to the Mortal World really closed forever?!". This book did a good job answering those question but now I find myself with even more question dancing in my head not to mention all of the riddles woven neatly throughout the novel only to leave me with a major cliff-hanger. But there is no question as to whether you should read this series. I honestly believe anyone would love it. The writing is magnificent and you cannot help but become attached to the character and find yourself cheering for them at every turn. All I have to say is; Bravo, Mr. Jones! You've done it again!...Now hurry up with that last book before I die of suspense. =)
Premise- (3/5) I admit, this is a series I felt could've been ended after book 3. But I've liked the first four books fine, and so I wasn't about to stop there. I wanted to see the plague cured and follow Tania's journey to save Faerie. Characters- (2.5/5) I miss a lot of the characters left behind in Faerie. I liked Tania's sisters and Oberon and Titania, and I don't much like Edric or Connor. I like Rathina and Tania, but we didn't meet too many new characters and those we did meet were somewhat underdeveloped. The Green Witch could've been really interesting, but then just...wasn't. There just weren't many characters I really liked/who caught my interest. Plot- (1/5) I know the point of this book was about the journey, but it was extremely frustrating for the reader to follow Tania through her whole journey and still not have an answer. And I have to say, I was not impressed with the ending. *spoiler* I'm sort of annoyed Tania went back to being Anita. Now she has to rediscover Faerie all over again. I'm going to read the last book, but I sincerely hope it's not a lot of Tania thinking her parents are crazy as they try to explain Faerie to her. As for the rest of the plot, not really impressed by that either. I saw Connor's betrayal coming for miles. A lot of this journey felt repetitive; we've already had the journey thing done in the last book. World- (3.5/5) The world created in these books is very compelling. The only problem is that it's starting to get a little repetitive, like Jones can't figure out how else to fill her books beyond world building. And don't get me wrong, world building is great, and Jones does a really great job of it, but it's starting to become a little much. Writing- (3/5) I really do enjoy Jones' writing style. Her descriptions are beautiful, and I love the slight disconnect between Tania and her Mortal World knowledge and her sisters' Faerie world. (Though we got much less of that in this book). Her writing is pretty, but that can only take her so far. Overall- (2.6/5 mathematically) Overall, I like this series, but Jones needs to pick it up. This book felt repetitive and sort of pointless, and I hope the conclusion is better.
I have absolutly loved the Faerie Path since the beginning, so I of course am going to be reading the latest one! The book starts out with telling what happened in the previous book. It begins with Tania, Rathina, and Conner on the bank of the ocean in Faerie. They continue on their quest to the town, where Titania first came to Faerie from Alba. There they find a boat and take off into the ocean towards Alba. Tania discovers hat she can still go between the worlds just not while she is in Faerie. Their boat getts captured by pirates, so Tania crosses to the Mortal World, but losses Connor in the process. Tania and Rathina meet this wierd guy named Michael in Ireland. He seems to know things he shouldn't, if he was merely Mortal. So, they finally got Connor back and have made it to the castle. Tania crosses paths with Edric and he uses dark magic on her. I hope their relationship doesn't all apart! Edric joins them on their journey and they travel to Erin, where Tania frees the people of the land. She kills the guy wit the metal arm and goes into a heaven like land with the aid of newly grown wings. he returns home with no recollection of who she really is.
A strange and mysterious illness is taking over the land of Faerie, and a member of the royal family falls ill.
Tania must go on a journey to find the cure. Her family, and the people of her land, are counting on her. The mortal Connor and Rathina, Tania's sister, accompany her on the trip. The trio encounter many challenges and surprises they must overcome.
Will Tania be able to find the cure? Or will she let her people down?
Wow! What a journey! There were so many obstacles that Tania and her traveling mates had to deal with. There are several surprises in this one. Some of the challenges are unexpected, and one member of the group is not completely honest. But I won't give away who!
Once again, there are so many things that I don't want to ruin that it's hard to review this book. I'll just say that I really enjoyed it. I flew through it and easily got caught up in the world of Faerie.
And the ending - I definitely did not see that coming at all! I really want to read the next book in the series, THE CHARMED RETURN, but I guess I'll have to wait until it comes out.
This is one of the best books in the Faerie Path series. I enjoyed it very much. I would not recommend reading this book if you have not read the other four because frankly it would not make any sense. The other four books are just as thrilling and beautiful as this one, and I think that they are worth reading multiple times. I have shared this series with my friends and they both love it too. The book is filled with excitement, magic, and romance. Tania's love, Edric, comes back to her after leaving to become a general in Wier. He vows to protect her and he says he will love her for all of eternity. (And he really means eternity, because all of the people in Faerie are Immortal) But Tania's companions, her sister Rathina and her friend Connor, are not so quick to trust him, because he has been dipping his toes in the Dark Arts. They say that he is addicted and will use them whenever he gets the chance. Tania, however, trusts that he will not use them and her trust stays strong throughout their journey through Erin and Tirnanog to find the Divine Harper. This story is about love, strength, and courage. I highly recommend reading this book.(But not before you read the first four)
This book, though filled with adventure, suspence, and a tad of romance, was a bit disppointing, knowing that it came from the same series as the Faerie Path. Faerie Path and the previous books were brilliantly written, but to be quite blunt, this book was plan boring. This is just my opinion, but there should have been More of a darker Edric in this book, because thats how it ended in the previous book, so he should have carried out that characteristic throughout this novel. Secondly, too much adventure and moving around, and too much thinking. At some point in the book, it was ALL THINKING. NO SPEAKING! Thats one of MY (me personally) biggest pet-peevs! The whole adventure, in just my opinion, was just overdone in this books. The other books had more suspence, but with romance AND adventure put together! And to tell you the truth, I wish it had just ended with this book. I hope the next book changes my mind!
This series just keeps going on. The idea was really great, but not worth six looonnnggg books. Three maybe. Thing is, FJ has a great idea for a series, but his writing is bland and longwinded and not paced well. The reader can't relate to Tania's struggles, and she's self-centered, and there's way too much unnecessary dialogue and description. The first book was pretty and neat, but FJ hasn't added anything new worth keeping the story going. His romance is also unreal and rather dull. Oh, and the characters' tryfail cycles are halfhearted and obvious. Half the time I'm like, "Use your magic to escape/defeat him!" But the characters 'forget' about their magic until they try one or two other methods first. Lame. And the oldEnglish language of the Realm gets REALLY annoying after a while. FJ could tone it down a bit.
Apparently the last 5 books are irrelevant, seeing as how Tania has forgotten EVERYTHING! I loved the book, and was on my toes not being able to figure out how it was going to end, and then she wakes up thinking it was all a dream. I'm slightly annoyed, seeing as how I thought this was the last book. But at least I'll have something to read. I'm eager to see how this series ends. Now that she has to start all over, there will probably be 5 more books with the exact same plot to them. Her having to find out who she really is and still save faerie. I'm confused as to whether she cured the plague or not?? Uhhh it'll all become clear with the six book, The Charmed Return...I hope. Still love the series, and FJ is doing a great job.

Sigh this series infuriates me. I have read other reviews on this series and most of them are true. Yes Jones drags out this story, yes some parts are slow, yet I can't get enough. The ending of book 5 made me mad as hell. After everything Tania has been through and now this!?! I will have to wait another 2 weeks to get the last book. I will give an overall review for the entire series after reading the 6th and final book. Know this, book 5 is about a very long quest. Lots trials to overcome and baddies to fight. Treachery and love and despair.
There has been a lot of questing in the Faerie Path series, but this one seemed to drag on. I was hoping Connor Estabrook would have been an interesting addition.. well... no. Not so much. Oh and the Divine Harper is a git. I don't care how he's neither good nor either, he's a git. I just didn't find this one all that enjoyable out of all the others. Essentially the whole quest was pointless too since nothing that happens here really plays a role in the next book and it does not accomplish what they set out to do. It was a huge waste of time.
