It's Mother's Day, and two children are preparing a breakfast feast for their unsuspecting mother -- to be served in bed, of course. Nothing comes out quite as intended, so it's Mother to the rescue in this extraordinary rebus book.
I taught a preschool class about Mother's Day and the kids all enjoyed this. I liked that it was repetitive and the kids caught on to helping me say the repetitive parts (words represented by pictures).
What they ended up making was a MESS! And they ended up just going for pancakes anyway. It's a good thing, too, because you know what? I was looking at all that stuff they were getting together and I thought "How in the heck is she gonna EAT all that?" So pancakes was the answer. We'd go for waffles, though.
The kids enjoyed "reading" the pictures included with the words. Fun book. Liked the theme of doing something nice for mom! Didn't like how it encouraged putting sugar on cold cereal. ;) Three and three-quarter stars.
This is a cute book about a little boy and his dad making breakfast for his mom. When they finally do give the mom breakfast the kitchen is a mess so they decide to just go get breakfast out somewhere.
