I'm wobbling between giving this two stars and three stars. I liked the story well enough, I suppose, as very, very light fare, but there were things about the book that bothered me.

I guess the biggest of what bothered me was that I wasn't sure how I felt about the way it was done. I like the mermaid premise (I like mermaids, period), and I'm a big fan of almost anything that involves mermaids, but I had this uneasy feeling about the entire tone of the book. Certainly, it doesn't take itself ser

Reading the back cover of this book is a bit like revisiting a favorite friend. At last, it’s Angel’s turn – the Mer (not mermaid) sister who’s always been so intrigued by humans in Judi Fennell’s previous books.

When Logan Hardington finds the beautiful Angel (now with legs rather than fins) hiding on his boat it certainly seems like the Catch of a Lifetime. The fact that she’s naked (she is a Mer after all) and his six-year-old son is standing on the pier is a bit of a problem, but Logan just l

Judi Fennell’s fun, lighthearted series comes to an end with this book, and there’s a little more seriousness in this one than the previous two. I think that’s probably why it’s my favorite of the three. There’s still the whimsical aspect of life under the ocean, sea monsters and all, but when it comes to life and death in this book, it has a little more impact than its predecessors.

I think that has to do with the fact that a child is involved in this story. Children always seem to pull at the h

Catch of a Lifetime is the 3rd book in Judi Fennell's series about Mers, her name for mermaids and mermen. The book stands on its own, but it helps to have read the prior books in the series, Over Her Head and Wild Blue Under. The books are romance novels, which I normally don't read, but I got to know Judi through our writing group, The Writing Wombats, and she tells a very good story, which led me to read this series and many of her short stories.

In this novel, Logan, who lives in a boat on t

I received an ARC from my PR book club, so I had a chance to read "Catch of a Lifetime" by Judi Fennell ahead of its release schedule. The book has romance, adventure, and humor that has become a staple in the Tritone Trilogy.

This last installment of the Tritone Trilogy details the adventures of the Mer Angel, sister to both Reel and Rod, who is trying to become head of the Human Coalition to save the planet. Along the way she meets Logan, a single father and totally human male, who takes her in

A story half-set in an undersea mermaid's world. Absolutely so bad, it's entertaining. If the author meant this as camp, she's brilliant.

There's an amazing sea-human fusion dialect:
"So we're not going to eat her?" Lou, a hunter lured out of retirement by the promise of a royal tar get, started frothing at the mouth—never a good sign. "Then why the fuck did you trawl me along, Har? This is bullsharkshit."

There are manly human men: "...Angel turned around and — Hit a wall. And not the plastered k

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…I love Judi Fennell’s writing.

Catch of a Lifetime is the third book in the Tritone Trilogy about Mer (folk). In Fennell’s first two books, we were introduced to two brothers. Angel, the heroine of Catch of a Lifetime was featured in both those stories and now we get to see her find a love of her own. She’s a little wild and eccentric. She’s also obsessed by human culture and wanting to save the planet—which is what ultimately lands in her the way of Log

Another one I got free from amazon....they are being exceptionally nice at the moment :) This one reminded me a lot of the little mermaid. Angel is a Mer (dont say mermaid...apparently that is a big no-no!) who wants the job as liason between humans and sea-life to talk about the pollution in the sea. She ends up on the boat of Logan, a man who is trying to build a relationship with the 6 year old child he just found out he has. Michael (the child) knows Angel is a mermaid and agrees to keep it ...more

Ms. Fennell's third underwater adventure opens with Harry the Hammerhead shark in swift pursuit of mermaid Angel Tritone. To escape him, she climbs onto the deck of a gently bobbing boat.

Logan Hardington is almost speechless when he sees the young nude woman sleeping on his deck the next morning. Although he would like to do more than just look, he quickly covers her up with a blanket so his young son doesn't get more than an eyeful.

Logan's young son is determined to have a mermaid for his birth

I loved this book. It caught me from the first chapter when Logan finds Angel butt-naked asleep on his boat with his 6 year old son coming up the dock. The mishaps from Angel having legs for the first time in her life (she's a mermaid) are just laugh out loud funny. Lucky for her, Michael is a talkative boy and gives her all kinds of information without her having to ask questions that would give her away. Of course, Michael knows she's a mermaid but his father doesn't.

Of course, the book is fu

This book was cute. There might have been times when it was too cute for me. But, then, I like dark books. And this book? Not dark. I did thoroughly enjoy the word games the author used on common phrases to make them more nautical underwater-y aquatic (that one might work) marine-friendly. Of course, I can't think of a single one at the moment, but they gave me a giggle.

While I ultimately liked the book, it really was a little too much on the cute side for me. there wre times when Angel's almost

Hmmm... So we have a Mer female (mermaid, OK?) and a human man for a switch. And the sea monster - again. And Rod is still a stick, and, and, and....

So here's the burning question - if the High Counselor is granted immortality, as is his heir, and any daughters upon marriage.... Where are our heroine's grandparents? Aunts? Well?

So what did I actually think of the book? Meh. Oh, it had its moments. It also had its moments of eye rolling, etc. Won't get into the h's mental proselytizing about the

The final installment of the Tritone trilogy was just ok. There's nothing special about it really. Like the first 2 books of the series, this one is just the same as the two.

Yes, Mers are supposed to be enchantresses, temptresses and downright gorgeous from head to foot but I was hoping something deeper would come from this book -- something not shallow and superficial despite their gorgeous looks and sweet voice. But meh. Like Reel and Rod, their significant other fell in love with them becaus

This was a free book on my Droid Kindle, so I checked it out. I liked it enough that it makes me want to check out the first 2 of the series, and I'm sure there will be one more as well. It was a fun story, though some things were slightly annoying. Like the fact that it seemed over half the book was just the characters thinking about how attracted they were to each other. That whole thing about men thinking about sex every few seconds? Apparently Mer (as they're called in this book) do too. So ...more

Catch of a Lifetime is the third in Judi Fennell's series with the Mer. I liked this one best of all, largely because of Angel Tritone. This time, the woman in the romance is the Mer and she's organized, powerful, and caring.

Her mission of improving Mer-Human relations to reduce pollution makes sense and it's interesting to read her reactions to life on land. Her fascination with the "girly things" like fabrics and all sorts of clothes that aren't waterlogged is pretty funny as well. Her love in

This is my favorite so far and a large part of that is due to Angel, she has a child like innocence in her quest to learning about humans. Knowing her brother is blocking her life long dream to work with humans she takes the chance when one presents itself when she is hooked by Michael. Aside from the, ahem, adult themes, I'd say this was a good YA novel, though it's not marketed as such for obvious reasons. Very light reading. I enjoyed the second half much more than the first.

Also, despite the research she put into marine life, there was one passage where a bird was chiding a lizard for its dinosaur ancestors and how birds are so much better - well anyone who's read anything about dinosaurs in the last 10-15 years would have known that scientists now believe *birds* to be the

As I read Catch of a Lifetime, I’m suddenly reminded of the movie Splash. You know, the one with Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah? But of course the characters in this book oh sooooo much hotter (yeah…Tom Hanks just doesn’t do it for me…lol). Although I COULD imagine Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson in this one. They’re such hot “beachy” people! LOL

Not a bad end to the Tritone series, or is it possible there might be another sequel (with all the comotion Mariana was making about not understanding what her siblings see in humans...)? The series was a fun, easy read, and out of all the books this one would most likely be my favorite. Things seemed to progress at a good speed, and I enjoyed the characters (Angel, Logan and Michael). I do wish, though, that Logan and Angel had been able to talk about both of their works together, since it seem ...more

Angel is a mermaid doing research on humans. She is hooked by a young boy named Michael and pulled into a boat. Logan is Michael's single father. He helps Angel but does not realize that she is a mermaid. The story has quirky humor with talking birds, sharks, and various other sea creatures. When Logan finds out Angel is a mermaid, he has to decide what Angel really means to him and what he is willing to sacrifice.

I always get so psyched about the mermaid premise and always get let down! It has so much potential to be funny or even just original!

This is about a mermaid who is worried about the environment (suck it up, FernGully) and jumps onto a random boat and falls in love with the dude on said boat. That's about it. Everything else was filler.

If this had more sex and 200 less pages it might have been an okay erotica novel.

Overall, Catch of a Lifetime was another great addition to Fennell’s series and I can only hope she plans to write more involving this great world. Not only is this a great series to read, but it’s a light and quick read, which is perfect for the upcoming summer months.

Catch of a Lifetime is the 3rd book in the Tritone Trilogy but it's the first that I've read out of the series because I got it for free on my Kindle and wanted to try it out before purchasing the others. I really enjoyed the story and the author's descriptions are fantastic! The romantic tension between characters is great. I will definitely be reading more by Judi Fennell!

What a wonderful book to read. Think "Little Mermaid" ...lol...and this is it. Everything and I mean everything can happen. I found myself laughing out loud sometimes. For example....the saluting crab. It's a fantasy world both on land and in the sea. Anyone who could use a bit of the outrageous needs to read this.
You'll definitely "be hooked". Pun intended....lol
