Two friends, Eddie and David are working on a science project involving plants. As a last ditch effort to revive their dead project, they buy a bag of very special fertilizer. Once they realize it brings more than plants back from the dead, they figure they'll try it out on David's dead pets, except they're not quite so friendly once they're re-animated...

Keeping with our current ripoff, we got Deadtime Stories. This is one I've been interested in for a while, as the premise sounded fun. I knew it would no Billy Baker but it still had promise.

David Brwester and his friend Eddie have screwed up their science project on plant life, as their plants have died. On TV during a monster movie marathon, they see an ad for Miracle Life, which can brings plants to life. They head down and get some from the mysterious creepy owner. They soon find out it can bring anything to life beyond just plants, as they learn the hard way through some pet zombies.

This one is good, although on the more mild side of it. It gets better as it goes along. There's s0me comedy to it with sitcom-ish shtick that can be funny and annoying. The protagonists have this smart alack nature that can work more in some parts than others. David has this sister Charley/Charlotte who is cool with how she's into dark stuff. They got the usual back and forth and while they do have to save her, we don't get her having a nice moment with them in return.

Eddie is a bit more skeptical which can get annoying as it goes on but there's charm in their back and forth. The best character is weirdly the dad who has some funny sitcom type antics, like how much he hates the neighbors which gores nowhere lol.

It establishes things quickly but takes a while to unleash any pet zombies. When it does get there, it's fun with the chaos we get. There's some creepy/gross descriptions in here that I quite like. The main villain we get is Hitch, Charley's dead bird that has history. It makes sense to do that but I don't get why he's doing what he does and how he can talk. Not just parrot talk, total sentences and all that.

Logic is a bit mixed, it's simple enough to not be distracting but there are questions. I can forgive some stuff with the salesman guy given how he is but other stuff is a bit more odd. I would have liked more of him. The climax is decent, if a tad abrupt and the twist is okay. It's at least clean for what it is.

There's a couple dumb fake outs and a tad too much "you gotta believe me" at times, not the worst case but it's there. Your taste may skew exactly how much you like this one as there are thing some could find annoying or slow.

For me, it's able to work past those flaws and become mostly fun. Even with some slow parts, pacing is fair most of it and it does get cooking. It could have been better in some regards so I can't rank it super high but for what it is, it is enjoyable. Worth a look if you can get into it, just not a favorite.

But yeah that's basically it. Next time, we get Bone Chillers as head back to ghostwriters. See ya then.
