Fairy Tale Romance #8

Jackie & the Giant

Rate this book
CLIMBING TO PASSION

It wasn't a castle, but Cloudmont was close: The enormous estate housed everything Jacqueline Beresford needed to quit her life of crime. But climbing up to the window, Jackie got a shock. The gorgeous giant of an owner was awake --- and he was a greater treasure than she'd ever imagined.

FALLING IN LOVE

It hardly surprised Rory Donovan that the beautiful burglar was not what she'd claimed, but capturing the feisty felon offered an excellent opportunity. He'd been searching for a governess for his son, and against all logic he felt Jackie was perfect for the role --- and for many others. But he knew that she'd broken into his home to rob him of his wealth --- for what reason had she stolen his heart?

A rather interesting retelling of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Jackie is a thief, a con artist and she has her sight on a Febrie egg. Rory, disillusioned widower with his son Kevin, is not happy and finding a thief Jackie, trying to steal his prizes egg doesn't make him happier. He decides instead to make Jackie be Kevin's governess and slowly falls in love with her.

This was definitely different, especially how they used the magic beans.

Super cute and romantic.

Wasn't exactly sure who the giant was in this scenario though.

Just Finished this! It was a 4/5 stars for me. I loved Jackie personality and her relationship with kevin and eventually Rory they really loved each other! The jack and the beanstalk elements were tastefully and heartwarmingly done. It would have been five stars but the conflict at the end and how Jackie responded and the time gap I felt like was unnecessary and could have been done in a way that made sense to her relationship with rory she had developed. Overall a new favorite of mine!!

This would have the forced proximity trope I feel like, as she becomes kevin's governess.

Trigger warnings for loss of a child, spouse and greif however having lost a child myself I could really relate to how Rory was feeling.

Jacqueline Beresford is a thief, looking for one last job that will enable her to afford a small cottage and live a normal life. But the beautiful burglar is surprised when she climbs into a huge estate, only to be confronted by the owner, Rory Donovan. Rory takes advantage of the situation and blackmails Jackie into taking the position of his son, Kevin's, governess. Soon, Jackie, Rory and Kevin become a family, but Jackie's past begins to catch up with her.

Nice retelling of Jack & the Beanstalk. My rating: 4 Stars.
