Thirty years ago, John Lennon's life was tragically cut short, ending one of the most influential and brilliant musical careers of the 20th century. This photo-biography, with a preface by his wife, Yoko Ono Lennon, takes a look back at the enigmatic legend, and a life marked by restless exploration-into art and music, consciousness and spirituality, politics and protest, love and peace. Featuring family photos and reproductions of documents that bear witness to momentous events and the origins of his “Imaginative” songs, this compilation, like no other, sheds light on his relationships with Paul, George, and Ringo; his attitudes toward mind-expanding drugs, social revolution, and the Vietnam War; the cataclysmic breakup of the Beatles; and the tenderness of his love for Yoko Ono and their only child Sean.
"e chi erano?" "Tuo padre e un suo amico". Personalmente sento entrambi i gruppi, è come paragonare carne e pesce.
John Lennon: In His life by Valeria Manferto De Fabianis is a biography about the early and late life of the musician and peace promoter John Lennon. John Lennon was best known for being part of the well known band The Beatles but this book shows more of john on a personal level. John's thoughts and ideas thought his life.
Johns childhood was tough. His parents were divorced, he was doing bad in school, and overall unhappy a lot. When John was a teenager his mother died by getting hit by a car. In the book John claims that that was the worst day of his life. Though eventually all this pain and sadness inspired John to create a more peaceful mindset and becoming more positive.
Johns peaceful mindset was at a height when he met his second wife Yoko Ono who inspired and encouraged him to be more artistic and free with his thought. Although many Beatles fans claim Yoko Ono to be the reason of the Beatles breakup Yoko Ono did push Johns Solo carrer and his peaceful promotion.
John died at age 40 in 1980 by being shot by an out of wack fan. His death left many with sadness depression. His legacy and belief brought so much to the people seeking for a better less violent world. Even though John Lennon is now gone from the world his imagination and philosophy will remain with all of us.
Great collection of photos, some new to me which is always nice. The text was hackneyed and mostly regurgitated from other sources, with some questionable conclusions drawn by the author for good measure. But on the whole this is a coffee table book of images with extended footnotes, and it works in that sense.
Forward by Yoko (I did read it) Some text (which I also read), but the main appeal of this book for me was the wonderful collection of photographs, some familiar, some not, all a pleasure to look at. They stop with 1974 and skip the last six years of his life.
Most things that are written about Lennon are brilliant... This book illustrates a life and death of the worlds most prolific songwriter, from then until forever.... R.I.P John
