About the author

Kazuo Umezu or Kazuo Umezz was a Japanese manga artist, musician and actor. Starting his career in the 1950s, he is among the most famous artists of horror manga and has been vital for its development, considered the "god of horror manga". In 1960s shōjo manga like Reptilia, he broke the industry's conventions by combining the aesthetics of the commercial manga industry with gruesome visual imagery inspired by Japanese folktales, which created a boom of horror manga and influenced manga artists of following generations. He created successful manga series such as The Drifting Classroom, Makoto-chan and My Name Is Shingo, until he retired from drawing manga in the mid 1990s. He was a public figure in Japan, known for wearing red-and-white-striped shirts and doing his signature "Gwash" hand gesture.

Al di là della componente e tematica horror, umezu si conferma maestro del più classico orrore dell'ossessione umana.
Ormai pedine del personaggio principale tutti i protagonisti si spingono al loro limite in una spirale di decadenza ed orrore mossi solo dai più bassi istinti di sopravvivenza.
Non penso sia una lettura per tutti,alcune scene e contenuti sono decisamente forti e disturbanti,ma se si vuol leggere del buon horror pescare dalla produzione del maestro e sempre un'ottima scelta.

Francamente, siguiendo, por supuesto, la línea inverosímil ya desarrollada en el primer tomo, todavía me parece una historia bastante cuestionable, las cosas que hace la protagonista son... realmente turbias y tiene este aire que recuerda al filme de "La huérfana" (2009), del director Jaume Collet-Serra; y, si bien el dibujo y las expresiones de los personajes son elementos geniales, muy bien usados, no estoy muy dentro de la historia. Igual solo quedan dos tomos, así que lo terminaré.

Lo siento mucho pero, wtf? Comencé a leer esta historia creyendo que iba a hacer algo de terror, o terror psicológico, pero lo único bueno fue el inicio del primer tomo. Solo pasan estupideces tras estupideces sin sentido. Mucha incoherencia con el personaje principal y es como si el autor solo quisiera meter cosas grotescas porque sí.

Si la sigo leyendo es solo por la pobre Nakajima. Quiero saber si tendrá éxito o no.
