In a world where humans are thought to be inferior to beastfolk, human office worker Saki Oki endures a constant stream of ridicule and scorn from her beastfolk colleagues and superiors. So when she gets called into the CEO’s office, she’s prepared for the worst―but instead of firing Saki, the CEO acknowledges her hard work and makes her his private secretary! With all eyes in the office on her, Saki struggles to get used to her new position, not to mention her boss’s intimidating―yet oddly charming―aura…
Did I ever see myself really, really liking a romance between an eight-foot-tall bipedal lion in a suit and a human woman? Not even a little. Did this somehow win me over anyway? Absolutely, because underneath the fur is a really sweet story about two people who have been wounded finding each other. It's a good thing I'm way beyond feeling ashamed of liking any sort of book.
I feel the cute cover is slightly misleading when it comes to this story, but only because the harassment that Saki faces at work is VERY upsetting and definitely a little bit triggering. She is physically bullied and verbally harassed, and if I could, I rip her old boss from the page and have that man thrown in jail (or worse). 😠😠😠 I would definitely give a heads up on that because it's not easy to see even if those scenes are brief.
Despite that I have never read a "fury romance" and am still undecided if they are for me or not, I do think Oki's story is very compelling because of seeing how Atlas treats and respects her. I feel this is truly a story (or at least in volume one anyway) where we see Saki's hard work and dedication recognized as well as her learn and see what a POSITIVE relationship with a beastfolk and boss is. There were many times that my heart hurt for her in seeing why she has a hard time trusting as well as her being treated with dignity by Atlas. (I know two different opposite reasons, but they are both powerful for different reasons.) He is a wonderful boss and I do think the mangaka does a very compelling job of making you want to cheer for them to be together because of how gentle and caring he is for Saki. It was deeply beautiful to see in light of how she has been treated in the past. Plus, I will confess that both of them together have some really cute moments, and I really like the importance of communicating even if it's awkward, and the freedom and pride to be yourself.
The ending was a HUGE shock! Considering that there are many moments of seeing racism between beastfolk and humans and the discussion of it in the workplace, I never expected a new character to come on the scene. I honestly have no idea what to expect moving forward though I think I would like to keep reading because I VERY much like Saki and am earnestly rooting for her to be able to be herself at work with no fear of physical injury and confidence in her skills.
I'm not going to lie. I thought that was a twink in the cover until I started reading the manga, and they introduced the female lead XD
This is pretty cute, and I think I'll binge the rest of it shortly :)
edited: Also, for anyone thinking of reading, there is verbal and physical abuse in the workplace (towards the female lead). It's sad and may be triggering, so be aware ❤️
I thoroughly enjoyed this manga and believe they have so many places ago. It dropped off on a cliffhanger, and I’m really grateful for that. I really hope that this is more than a Two book series. The characters are interesting, the art is cute and there is so much potential.
Excuse me while I die from the cuteness. Praying for more to the series than just 2 books. They are so cute and the healing journey they have started together is so heart warming.
This was a cute, if not a little repetitive, first volume. I think the two main leads are cute and have some strong chemistry, I just wish there was more diversity in their interactions. Still, a cute first volume.
Ok this was a very welcomed surprise!! I found it while browsing the Comics Plus app and I loved it.
I'm usually not a fan of the office/workplace romance trope but I do love the other stuff here like the beast x human dynamic, the height difference, the touch her and die vibes, , the soft hearted male lead that is a cinnamon roll that could kill like yessssss. Also not to mention that Atlas looks so soft. Like I just want to let his mane. He looks so fluffy!!!! Yes, I sounded like Agnes from Despicable Me but that the exact vibes I am having at seeing him 😊
I'm in love with the artwork but I do love the pace of this first volume. Enough of both characters shine through as they figure out their dynamic as well as showcasing the world building of this world where beastfolks and humans coexist even if they don't get along or in some cases are violent and toxic like with Saki's previous boss.
This book was cute! There’s not much to the plot, not much to the characters, but it’s a big ol’ furry lion beast falling in love with his hardworking human personal secretary/assistant, so really I’m not looking for much more. It’s an easy read and pretty sweet, and I’ll definitely continue the series.
A very sweet premise that delivers! Our Female Lead (FL) is a very capable and hardworking human, who has dealt with significant prejudice at her workplace because of her species. She suffered significant abuse - not just mean words, but actual physical abuse - from her higher-ups. This manga treats that with the care and seriousness it deserves.
The Male Lead (ML) is big and bold, but also a very kind and caring man. He has a heart proportional to his massive size. He wants to support FL, and is helping her come to terms with the fact that the people who have been cruel to her are wrong, that she is inherently valuable and that she is worthy of recognition.
He also has a chauffeur who's a delight. Strict and proper, but with a deep heart as well.
A manga with not only a heathy match but also discusses discrimination and harassment; I got this based off the premise and read with a smile on my face. I liked the world building and showcasing healthy relationships. I also liked Atlas as well, he is very different from your romance manga leads and reminds me of someone I have been on a few dates with. Very intrigued to see where this story goes.
Honestly, my title can't convey my feelings about this manga... The art is wonderful, expressions perfect and fitting, while the story is very engaging. I can't help finding some traits on Ms Oki and Mr Atlas close to myself, even if I think only a close friend of mine can be as cute in behavior to Mr Atlas... But I digress, sorry.
The story is more than engaging and I am extremely impatient for a lot more books as well as an anime version.
I was a bit cautious going into this first volume due to the societal ranking between beasts and humans. However, I quickly became attached to Ms. Oki and her boss: Mr. Atlas, as well as Atlas’s chauffeur: Grey. I find Ms. Oki’s strength and perseverance to be very inspiring, and Mr. Atlas’s bashfulness surrounding his romantic feelings are adorable. Also, Grey’s stern appearance yet very supportive role is lovely to see. Overall, I’m curious and eager to read the next volume.
This is so unbelievably adorable!!!!!! Both of the characters are so awkward and wanting to please others or do well at their work and they just don't know how to express that. And they're slowly trying to get to comfortable places with each other, it's just so cute to watch the reactions!!!! >\\\\\\\< I REALLY WANT THINGS TO WORK OUT FOR THESE TWO!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Cute interspieces office romance—not that she has a clue that a romance is in the books. It’s difficult to see the other person in a romantic light when you’re instinctually afraid of him, and have been bullied by your previous boss. But I’m sure they’ll get there. There was a surprise ending and I need to find out what will happen next.
I wasn't sure what I was getting into with this. I simply picked it up because it was the first volume and I liked the cover.
I really like Ms. Oki. She has no problem sticking up for herself and not taking unnecessary shit from her coworkers. I really thought she'd be some type of shrinking violet. Nope she has a spine.
Cute, sweet, adorable and every other related synonym! It's almost like a modern office take on Beauty and the Beast. There are some intense bullying scenes and trauma as in this world humans are beneath beastlike creatures on the social hierarchy scale, but even though it's awful it feels authentic. Will definitely continue on with this series.
I saw a preview for this and grabbed it the second I saw it on sale. It was definitely everything it said on the tin. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes a good Beauty and the Beast redux.
This was so adorable I legitimately wanted to die. They are so cute. I love Atlas and Saki so much. The art style was absolutely gorgeous and made my heart flutter. One of my favorite things I’ve read this year.
This story is so funny and cute, I hope it never ends. I love the quick. Storyline and how it’s progressing into a more lovey dovey romance with each chapter. Please make more volumes.
A little fast paced but really interesting story so far. Not at all what I expected but I really love the two main characters and their relationship so far.
