Released by Jus Accardo is the third book in The Eternal Balance series. I was really looking forward to the wrap up of this one based on how Accardo ended book two. If you haven’t read books one or two yet you might want to hold off on reading this review. I always do what I can not to give anything away but seeing as how this is a book three, I can’t promise I won’t give anything from books one and two away. You have officially been warned.

Released picks up shortly after Embraced ended. If you recall, Jax has officially been taken over by Azirak after he killed Az’s mate and now he has no control over what happens. While Az is running the show, Jax can still see and hear everything and it is very tough on him. I loved how Accardo was able to write this one character as two different people. Ultimately they both are willing to do whatever is necessary to protect Sam and I found that to be the thing that made me like both of them so much.

As the battle between good and evil continues, Sam is stuck right in the middle along with Az/Jax and she is doing her best to stay alive as well as find a way to save Jax from whatever fate has in store for him. As the story progresses, we learn more about what normally happens when demons take over a body and things don’t look especially good for Jax. I admit it, I started to enjoy the interactions both Sam and Jax had with Az. I also admit, I loved the part where Jax finally does come through for a decent length of time. There was quite a bit of ust through the series for these characters so when they finally do get an opportunity to be together, I can’t fault them for diving right in. It was also pretty hot.

As per usual with Accardo’s books, this story has a great mix of solid characters, great action, and an intriguing story. I thought Accardo did a fantastic job of bringing the whole story together and tying up the entire series. I look forward to more from her and recommend her books to anyone looking for a new paranormal series to read.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy!

What an exhilarating ride! This story ends on a perfect note. I loved the epilogue in particular. After all the suffering spread out into 3 books Sam & Jax finally get their well deserved happily ever after.

Sam was so strong in this novel. Her personality just took on this stone cold resolve to outsmart a who-knows-how-old demon. She never stood a chance, but I can safely tell you that fate was on their side.

Jax has been in a very precarious situation since the first novel. In this conclusion, he's even worse off. The solution isn't clear until the almost end of the book. Everything is very bleak until that point. Just hang on, things get better.

Sam & Jax also manage to make a witch friend along the way. Azi (AKA the demon who shares Jax's body) has a very surprising revelation, which will blow your mind and have you in tears by the end of it all. I've said this in the beginning and I'll repeat it however many times I can: What a perfect ending.

My Favorite Quotes:

"In my current state I wasn't sure I could throw shade at a kitten much less tackle a demon, but I'd always been a determined f*ker."

"[...] In a world where so many horrible things existed, so much pain and darkness, we'd found love."

"[...] Nothing in heaven or hell would ever take her away. They couldn't. She was mine and I was hers. Always had been - and alway would be."

Released was as entertaining as the other books in The Eternal Balance Series. I was anxious to read this because of how things ended in Embraced. Jax had to kill Azirak's mate to save Sam. Azi took control of Jax body.He can see, hear and feel through the demon but his essence is fading. Sam tries to get Jax back but the demon has no intention of giving up . I enjoyed the way these three interacted with each other and how Sam handled Azi and Jax. Both have such distinct personalities. But one thing they have in common is their love for Sam. I was surprised by the turn of the events. It made me love Azi so much. I was glad how it ended. It was Perfect.

This is the last installment of The Eternal Balance.
The story line is good, fast pace and lots of suspense. However, except for the h and H, every body speaks in riddle and incomplete explanations. It droves me nuts while reading it

Better than the first 2 books, that's for sure, but I can't say that this would line up with my favorites.

This is not my normal go to genre. I don’t know why I was so drawn to this series. I only know that I loved the characters and some of the redeeming qualities of Azi and the love Jax has for Samantha. It also happens to have so much going on that I need to know how it will end!

The battle between good and evil ensues in this last Chapter of the series. There is nonstop action and twists and turns. Every time they turn around something new is revealed and sometimes Sam feels hopeless. But there is also a new character introduced that gives Sam some hope. Time is ticking and Jax is fading and Sam can’t stop now to find the stone and try to release her “pure” powers to find a way to make Azi leave Jax’s body and for them to have a normal life. If that’s even possible!

Heckle, also known as Abel from the Bible, is the balancer in life and he seems to pop up at the most bizarre and critical moments to balance things out and to trade for things to keep it even. They always make the trade of whatever he wants just to get them safe, even if they know that it will bite them in the butt later.

Since Jax killed Azi’s mate, Azi punished Jax by not allowing him to surface. Jax is aware of what is going on but is unable to do anything about it. When Azi pretends to be Jax and tries to seduce Sam to get her cooperation in finding a stone that belongs to Azi, Jax becomes furious and finds that for a moment, he was able to take control. But only for a moment. Azi is impressed with it since no one has ever been able to take back control in all his lives. Azi respects Jax for that but it is too late for it because now that Azi has suppressed Jax he has little time to survive before Azi totally takes over Jax and Jax just stops existing. Jax is not going to stop trying! Azi does give them some time to be alone before Jax dies. Those moments are sweet and tender. And also with graphic intimate moments.

There is a bond between Jax and Sam and Azi sees it and feels it. Shoot Azi is also in love with Sam. Azi is intrigued by it and has left Sam an inheritance. He also vows to always protect her.

My only issues were that it kind of ended quickly. It was just too easy after all the conflict. I mean that the resolve was too easy after so many twists and turns for this to just happen. But it still gave me the ending I wanted so I didn’t balk too much. The other was that sometimes in the past two books things would pop up that it seemed that everyone else but Sam, Jax/Azi knew about. It happened a lot. For those with strong Christian backgrounds, you may not want to read it since Abel kind of straddles the line sometimes, even though he can only balance good and bad. There are fallen angels like Michael and Gabriel.

If possible, I would venture to say that Azi is a good demon from hell. He doesn’t make decisions lightly. He is still evil but there might be some redemption for him someday.

As I stated earlier, Azi, does have his good qualities and listens to and senses Jax and Sam’s relationship and their qualities. When he is in control of Jax, Sam learns how to tell the difference and everyone can see the different personalities between Jax and Azi. Sam wants little to do with Azi but senses that Azi cares for her too. He will take care of Sam. Jax is a little jealous of it but doesn’t voice it. I love Sam’s dialogs with Azi, there is snark and disgust and some kind moments.

If you like nonstop action, twists and turns, not knowing who to trust in a book, betrayals, good vs. evil, climbing in trees, magic, demons, a bond between two people that is so deep and tender, big ugly dogs that are vicious, an ending that you sigh from because you can now breath after so much turmoil has resolved, characters from the Bible that may be different than you would think, than this might just be for you.

So, what if you were born cursed? What if because someone in your ancestry forever ago committed a sin you are now forced to share your body with a demon? That's where our main character, Jax, finds himself. He's sidled with a demon riding shotgun in his head all because of that first murder ever committed by Jax's ancestor Cain. While Jax may be a caring and good person, the actions that his demon demands of him most certainly aren't. Jax's demon craves violence and sends him images of the destruction it wishes to see Jax cause.

This story is told between alternating POV's of Jax and Sam. Sammy is the girl next door, literally and figuratively. They have very different voices and it's nice to get the change of pace so I enjoy this POV setup for Ruined. The plot line is one that I haven't seen before and I thought the take on Cain's descendants was very unique. The setting and world-building feel like we're just at the tip of the iceberg on more interesting things that could come, but I wasn't left confused. All the information lined up and made sense to me. Accardo did an excellent job with showing the demon's penchant for destruction without making me shake my head or want to throw up. There was a darkness from Jax and the demon that hung over every interaction that ramped up the intensity.

The Bad

Though the romance was great, it sometimes caused the rest of the story to take a backseat. I would've liked to have seen a little less romance and some more action thrown in.

The Romance

These two are beyond spicy and want each other something fierce. Whether they are a good fit remains to be seen. I will say that Sam has a soft spot for Jax and doesn't feel like he's all bad where Jax wants to keep Sam safe, especially from himself. There's a lot of conflict to work out before this relationship will work, but I hope we see something good come out of it.

Conclusion

This is the second book by Accardo that I've read and I've enjoyed them both. The characters in Ruined drew me in and I was very interested in the story concept and world. I like the flare of romance and the flashes of darkness that hung over everything, and I'm looking forward to seeing more out of this series. Recommended.

Where do I even begin… When I first finished this book I was a bit surprised. At first glance I felt like the ending was anti-climactic. But the more I thought about it and reflected on the series as a whol, the more I liked it and applauded Jus on her choice. I expected an explosion of something different and what I got was the best ending possible. There is a high level of tension all throughout this book. Jax and Azi are struggling to co-exist and Azi has basically taken over, something that spells bad news for Jax. I was anxious about this whole development, knowing that the outcome could go any number of ways.

My favorite part of this book was the fact that Sam becomes the hero. Throughout the series, we see her strength (she is never a weak and helpless character) but Jax/Azi is always the one saving the day. In this story, we begin to see Sam embrace her destiny and fight for what she wants and needs to exist. Her determination is one of the best parts of this book. She embodies human resilience and pure love, something that is lacking in a world of backstabbing and demons.

Once again, this book shares the story in dual POVs. This is very important. It allows the reader to understand Sam’s determination. Yet it is most important so that we can understand what is happening with Jax and Azi. The tables have turned and seeing the internal dialogue and struggle allows the reader to understand what is happening. It is incredible how much emotion leaps of the page from both POVs, something that enhances the story, not weigh it down. There is a fair amount of despair and agony, something that could easily make the story into something different. But Jus is able to balance the emotions we read and use the personality and situations to create a story that continually pushes the reader to hope, even when hope seems to be lost.

Released shares the strength of humanity and the resilience of hope in an exciting supernatural story. After taking a moment to process what I had read, I found that this was the best ending for everyone, one that justifies the series. It was satisfying and to get to it, the characters had to endure everything. The suffering, emotion, and struggles they endured allowed them to be who they were in order for the outcome to be. The balance was spot on and the battle of good and evil played out beautifully. The war might not be over, but the battle was definitely won.

I wanted to read this book, yet I didn’t want to read it. I loved Ruined, Embraced not so much. I enjoyed to book but I so wanted the happy in love butterfly feel that loving Ruined got me. For Embraced it wasn’t there. Hence apprehension when starting Released, unwarranted apprehension.

Released is the final book in The Eternal Balance series. It starts right were Embraced left off. Azirak is now in charge of Jax’s body (he is trapped inside) and Sam is mad as all get out. Not at Jax, but at Azirak. She also doesn’t trust him so she is sticking around like white on rice until she can find a way to get Azirak out of Jax. That is her main goal, her only goal. Heckle wants Jax and Sam to track down a stone that once belonged to Azirak, a magical stone (Brim Stone) that can through things out of balance. They have to find it before Chase, Jax evil twin, gets it.

So off Jax/Azirak go with Sam in tow to find the Brim Stone. It isn’t an easy task, as Chase will do anything to find the Brim Stone as well. Along they way they find a powerful witch, Van. Van can help them, yet Trackers (hell hounds) are after her- Azirak saves her. Turns out her sister was Azirak’s mate, yeah talk about eerie.

Sam has shown us already that she is tough, loyal and determined. Azirak, taking over the body of the man she loves has to mess with her mind. Yet, she is holding it together. She is developing plans. She is trying to save Jax. You gotta like her spunk, her drive, and her love for all things Jax.

Jax is the only human to break away from their demon. He is also the only one to live as longs as he and his brother have. He fights for control, he fights for intervention, mostly he fights for Sam. Theirs is an epic love, one of mutual respect.

On a totally unrelated topic check out the cover. It is kinds hot and kinda spooky at the same time.

Released was a fantastic conclusion to a good series. Everything I loved about Ruined was back in full force. The story had me gasping in angst, laughing in humor, and pretty much just cheering the couple on. I really hope that there is a spin-off story about Van, she rocked it pretty hard in this book. Yeah, she was new but still. If not a spin-off about Van how about one about Heckle? That would be a fabulous tale.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Wow - you ever read a series that just gives you everything you want? This series has taken me on a rollercoaster that had me crying, laughing, and smiling at various times, but it ultimately left me incredibly satisfied. I'm happy to have met these characters and been introduced to this world, but so very sad to see it end.

It's here, the final showdown, only none of the characters really know yet. When we last left our main characters, they were not in the best of places. Sam was safe and claimed, but Jax was trapped by Azirak and unable to escape his own head. This book picks up soon after the events of the last (don't read these books out of order!) and we find Sam struggling to accept that her boyfriend's body is controlled exclusively by a demon. Sure, before it was a balance and there was even some sexy fun time between them, but now it is something entirely different. In true Sam fashion, she knows she just has to hold out hope for a solution, no matter how far fetched.

This book somehow managed to convince me that Azirak has feelings. They aren't really human feelings by the true definition, but I found myself rooting for him almost as much as I was rooting for Sam and Jax. While sometimes the bad guy, he was a surprise hero when the time called for it. The overall mission for this book (as assigned by Abel) was to track down the stone that we briefly encountered in the last book. With lots of magical powers, it has to be stopped before more hellish things start entering their world.

It takes a lot to have a book make me cry, but this one did it. I was 100% engaged to the point where I almost didn't want to finish the book because the experience would be over. All of the characters struggled in such "real" ways and managed to make the best of their truly heartbreaking situations. It had me really begging for some truly spectacular happy endings. We get a very satisfying wrap-up to the series that made all the turmoil worth it. My real question is, without these characters, now what do I read?!

Firs of all, I enjoyed it A LOT. But I can't give it more stars, there were many inconsistencies in the storyline regarding previous information given in the first 2 books AND plot holes filled with poorly supported arguments. Still, like I said, I enojoyed it very much, and fell in love with Jax and Azi (poor demon 3 )

This is a terrific ending to this series. We see the bonds of love shine through and how after all they went through love conquers the good and evil. JAx and Sam had already gone through so much. They survived Jax’s brother, Malphi and all the other demons who want to claim Sam and now they are being punished by Jax’s own demon. a new interesting twist. Azirak isn’t a bad demon but trying to harm Jax because of what he did to Malphi even though Malphi was trying to harm Sam. It didn’t matter because Malphi was his mate for now Jax is now not in control.

jax is fighting with everything to stay in his body but is slowly fading and it is sad to see. We see the world and Sam through Azirak’s eyes though and it is entertaining. We learn about the demon in this book and see that he isn’t all that he seems. Azirak is a thoughtful demon who learned from the past. He isn’t as bad as he once was and respects Jax and cares for Sam. In this last book we see all the love of Sam and Jax shine through and what they would do to be with one another. Jax sacrifices and gives in to Azirak for Sam and it is such a beautiful amazing gesture.

We see how Jax isn’t as bad as he believes. That he has a kind and beautiful soul. We see that Azirak unlike other demons cares about his human. We see how they fight to keep Jax alive and Sam safe. We see the ulitmate sacrifice and how balance is restored and get a tearjerking ending. A ending that gives us a wonderful happily ever after. The book keeps us on our toes as the danger around Sam increases, Jax fights for himself and his love for Sam is all that keeps him going and learn who Azirak is. A wonderfully written, enthralling book about love and sacrifice

This was a very entertaining read about a woman named Sam who is in love with a guy named Jax who just so happens to be inhabited by a demon named Azirak. Due to some events that took place in the previous two books Azi is now in control of the body the two are sharing and has no intentions of giving it back. Sam on the other hand is equally determined to find a way to not only put Jax back in the driver seat of the body, but to get rid of Azi once and for all.

I found Sam to be a very good character. She was very much in love with Jax and even though the two had been through some hardships in the past, those things just made the love the two still share stronger. At times I did not envy Sam the position she was in. The man she loved was still inside the body she loved, but he was locked away, only reachable when the demon was in the mood to do so. But still, her love for him made her stay and fight which is something I love in my leading lady.

Jax and Azi were very interesting characters as well. They both had very distinct personalities and it made reading about them fun. Jax was a fighter and very passionate where as Azi was cold, sometimes detached and often funny. The way they looked at and wanted to handle things were very different and it often took the input of Sam to get the two to do the right thing.

In the end I really liked the action and nice flow of the book. There weren’t really any dull moments for me which was nice. This was the third book in this series and my only regret was that I did not have the opportunity to read the first two books before this one as I think that would have made the experience even better.

The book takes place just after Embraced, Jax is prisoner of Azirak in his own body and Sam must find a way to help him.

This is the last book of the series and Sam, Jax and Azi are living some great adventure, they haven’t got the chance to be at peace. Heckle send them on a mission for the life of humans beings.

I like Sam, she’s always protective with Jax, she knows that her life will never be the same but she wants him in it. She will fight with Azirak and in the end she will finally accept the demon for what he is.

Jax is prisoner, he can’t interact with Sam but he sees and heard everything. He’s fighting to take control but it’s really hard. I like his discussion with Azirak.

Azirak is really hot, I like him a lot, I know that he’s a demon but I love the fact that he finally love his two humans, he’s a great demon and he’s prefect for Sam’s protection. He’s stubborn and arrogant but that’s a thing I love in him.

I think this book is very interesting due to the fact that Azirak is in control and not Jax. It’s very nice to see the demon interact with Sam, or with Jax in his own head.

The end of the story is a good one with sadness and happiness and I’m very satisfied by it.

Jus Accardo did a very good job with this last book and I think that’s great she keep Azirak for the last book. It’s better for the story and also for the ending.

If you begin the trilogy, you must read the last book because it’s opening your eyes on another level, and also because Azirak is hot as hell, like Jax.

I received this book in advance of release in exchange for an honest review so here it goes. As this is my first official review. I want to explain my process a little. In my reviews I am going to try to not only review the book itself, but also describe the authors writing style a little, as I feel that this contributes to how much a person will enjoy any given book.

Also as a side note, I read freakishly fast, so don't look at my date started/date finished and think that this is a short book.

I am new to the Author and the Series, so I don't know anything about the previous books. This book was extremely well written, plenty of suspense and action for the targeted reading group. What I found most interesting is the dynamic of one of the characters sharing his body and mind with a demon. Writing a character into a story that has two separate and distinct personalities seems like it would be extremely difficult (in fact this is what drew me to the book, I have read books with a similar type of dynamic and they were always very interesting {See the Jane Yellowrock Series by Faith Hunter}), and the author did a very good job of tying the two together and making a coherent and very enjoyable story out of it.

I recommend this book to those who enjoy the fantasy/paranormal genre, but does not enjoy the full on blood and gore type action of other authors.

Jax is sharing his body with the demon Azirak. But Az is mad at Jax for killing his mate and has taken control of Jax’s body. Jax is watching everything happen but has no way to do anything. And the longer that Az is in control the less Jax will be until he disappears. Both Az and Jaz love Sam and I like how Az lets Jax and Sam be together before disappears.

I have not read the other books in this series and I think that would make a difference. But I did catch on to the story and couldn’t turn pages fast enough to find out what happens next. I felt for Sam. Here is hates Az but sees how in his way he loves her too and plans to keep her safe. Jax is trying everything to keep from disappearing and even fights against the control of Az. It’s heartbreaking to watch Jax and Sam together when Az releases control for a little bit.

This is a great story with lots of action and emotion. Az may be a demon but he clearly is a difference class of demon. I think this is a great story and now I want to read the other books in the series to find out what happened.

I made a bit of a boo-boo when I agreed to review this book. I hadn’t read any of the previous novels in the series and I just dove head-first into this one. I felt like I was arriving in the middle of a show, but things quickly became clear. Although the book is probably more enjoyable if you’ve read the previous stories in the series, Accardo did a good job of filling in any necessary details to the story. In fact, I found the action at times at bit slow. If I wasn’t playing catch-up, I might have been tempted to skip ahead.

I really liked the dual aspect of Azirak and Jax. It was quite different and interesting to read. This was in fact my favorite part of the novel. Of course, I loved Jax. How can anyone not love Jax? I liked Samantha as well. Her character was very real. So much so that I yelled at her through my Kindle a few times. Yeah, she didn’t listen.

I liked how the ending tied everything up in a neat little bow. I pretty much had it figured out, but the ending was well-written and exciting to read anyway.

And at last I've finished this book. I've waited a long time for it and I was curious about how it was going to end.
Now, this series wasn't that amazing and there were some bad parts, but I liked it enough that I stayed until the end. No regrets about that.

I love happy endings and that's the reason I gave this book 4 stars. Lately the authors like to ruin our lives and make us suffer, but not this author. She gave me a happy ending and I'm grateful for that.

The ending was cheesy and sweet and cliche but I liked it just the same.

Released is the conclusion to Jus Accardo’s Eternal Balance trilogy. The story picks up on the heels of the second book, with Jax’s body taken completely over by his demon, Azirak. With the help of Jax’s girlfriend Samantha, Jax must finish the job he and Sam started to ensure her safety once and for all. A man and his woman struggle to be together despite the demonic forces trying to tear them apart. Released is a different sort of romance, where a demon may not be all bad, and angel’s aren’t always out to help people in their time of need. Cont...

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Released by Jus Accardo is Book 3 of the Eternal Balance Series. Seeing the cover and having read the description, I just had to read this; I wasn’t let down at all. So much goes on in this book with lots of action, suspense, good v. evil, and of course, those things that go bump in the night and are of a demonic nature. The author has crafted an exciting and believable world together with an intriguing storyline and developed characters. The twists and turns created by the author really add to the story and have you second guessing things. This was an enjoyable escape from real life.

Although I enjoyed this book, it would have been better if I had read the previous one. It was a bit like walking into cinema half way through the film.
Jax Flynn is a hitch-hiker in his own body. The demon who has always been a part of him has taken control .
Samantha Merrick is pissed that the demon has control of her man, and will do all she can to put it right. There is a dangerous task they must accomplish, but with another demon and his devil dogs out to stop them it will not be easy. It doesn't help Sam when Azirak , the demon inside Jax likes to terrorise people to get his way.
An all action paranormal romance with some amazing twists.

Even though this book was a bit slower in terms of plot movement and action and repetitive in parts, I thought it was a great end to the series. I loved the growth Azi showed. Jax and Sam were great as well. My only complaints are that some things came together too easily, the action wasn't as interesting, and Still, Sam is tough and she held her own to the end despite that. I definitely recommend this series to those that are into demons with a smidge of angel.

loved the build up. it has been so long since I was in this world I had forgotten how much I loved Jax. the ending was a bit anticlimactic for me but the epilogue was GREAT.
