The Mystery Club girls, Holly, Tracy, and Belinda, can't even keep away from a mystery when they are on a holiday in Scotland. They are staying at s B&B with the mother of a friend of Tracy's mother, where they plan on having a good rest on the nearby Loch. But on the first day there, a small plane crashes near the loch. It's a long hike to reach the site. When they get there, the plane is empty. Then they learn that the pilot was escaping with stolen money. The area is desolate so there aren't many places that an injured man can hide, except in the woods. The police think that he left the area, but the Mystery Club doesn't think so. Of course they're right, but this time the trouble finds them. The desperate man will go to any lengths to get his money, which seems to have disappeared, and get away.

Drei überaus naive Mädchen, die sich Hals über Kopf und unüberlegt in ein Abenteuer stürzen, das nicht sonderlich realitätsnah bzw. zu unnahbar geschrieben ist - man schüttelt eher den Kopf über das Benehmen und Vorgehen der drei, wie auch über die lückenhafte Erzählung, in der wichtige Meilensteine mit wenigen Worten abgefrühstückt werden, als dass man wirklich mitfiebert.
