An informative and concise overview of introductory psychology topics. The well-formatted and easy-to-follow sections will aid anyone preparing for the AP Psychology test or the GRE subject test in Psychology, or anyone who just wants to learn more about basic psychological principles. The book addresses research methods in psychology, social psychological, physiological psychology, and much more. Barron's EZ-101 Psychology best serves as a precursor to a more serious and in-depth exploration of psychological topics.
While a little dry and outdated (the edition I have does not reflect the most recent changes in the DSM), I enjoyed this book as a refresher to basic psychology. I read it before diving deep into Kaplan's review book, and I scored a 750 (91%) on the GRE Psychology exam. Also, I wish that this book focused more on the role of culture and diversity in psychology, though that is more of a systemic issue within the field as opposed to a problem only located within this text.

SUMMARY/ EVALUATION: -Selection: Psychology is an interesting subject. I haven’t done a lot of reading on it, because I didn’t want to find myself fretting that I had any odd psychoses. At this stage of life, I am what I am – no longer especially worried about the possibility of thinking I have every dysfunction in the book. -About: Various fields/aspects of psychology. -Liked: The book is well organized and thorough; the aspects, researchers/theorists, disorders, and treatments, both current and historical seem all inclusive. -Disliked: I’d probably like to know more on the topics covered, but I am probably glad that it covered several rather than a few in-depth. -Overall: It was fascinating and educational.
