Hank Quense writes satirical fantasy and sci-fi. Early in his writing career, he was strongly influenced by two authors: Douglas Adams and his Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy and Joseph Heller’s Catch-22. Happily, Hank has never quite recovered from those experiences.
He runs a self-publishing and book marketing service, where he coaches new and seasoned writers—whether you’re just polishing your first draft or sweating over your book’s launch. If you have questions about getting your book out into the world or making it actually sell, hank is always happy to share what he's learned.
Besides writing novels, nonfiction books and coaching, Hank lectures on fiction writing, publishing and book marketing.
.He has two daughters and five grandchildren all of whom live close by.
For vacations, Hank usually visit distant parts of the galaxy. Occasionally, he also time-travels.
Collection of short stories about alien encounters and strange situations, and the way the tunnel vision of people bring these situation to unsatisfactory ends.
The book didn't completely load on my kindle, so I dinged a star.
It's good to see these delightful stories available again, plus a couple of bonus stories added. I have a copy of the original version on my bookshelf. The stories are light-hearted and sometimes downright silly, but "many a truth is spoken in jest," As a satirist, Quense takes up the mantle of the medieval court jester, poking fun at our foibles and exposing our weaknesses--such as the inability to see the big picture beyond our own narrow interests. Tunnel vision.
I LOVED this collection of short science fiction/fantasy stories. I was able to download this to my Blackberry, which made it super easy to pick up and read at any time. Since the stories were short and engaging, I was hooked. Hank is a fantastic story teller and all around fun person. I had the opportunity to interview Hank on my Blog Talk Radio Show, Page Readers. Talk about a personality! Listen to Hank discuss his book at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/page-rea...
This book is not my cup of tea.he stories. Yet, while not my favorite, the author did a wonderful job of creating environments and people with uniqueness and originality, which is really what excellent storytelling is all about. And what I mainly enjoyed was being able to take the characters and places he invented and turn them into stories of my own. His vivid descriptions propelling my own imagination as I crafted plots and endings of my own.
I'm very pleased to have won this through Good Reads. The stories weren't what I would call laugh-out-loud funny but they were more of the clever and witty amusing style. I could also tell what political leanings the author has....not that there's anything wrong with that. All in all- a nice selection of what I would call morality tales- a few just strange and funny- and a couple meh ones.
Recommended for those who like oddball humor..and those who don't mind a few risque parts either.
