I had originally picked up the anthology due to the mention of fantasy/PNR and omegaverse in the synopsis and the inclusion of some authors that I recognized.

After going through the book, I should have passed on this anthology in hindsight since I was not really into most of the themes and kinks. There was a lot of age gap and immaturity in the stories... But if you want your straightforward taboo kinky smut without much plot or deep development (and lots of virgins), then this book is for you. I did learn about what I was definitely not into and authors and series to avoid in the future.

This story followed an arranged marriage between the 22-year-old virgin FMC Wren and 43-year-old billionaire MC Loren, proposed by Wren's grandfather Ted to keep his legacy in the family when selling his company to Loren. The couple had to produce a grandchild within the year as part of Ted's terms. Wren was raised to look forward to being a wife with children while Loren was single due to his abrasive workaholic personality.

Personally, I wasn't a fan of the insta-lust and crude dominant behavior, and the addition of the age gap pushed it into the nty stack for me. DNF at Chapter 4 of 12 after the pair first met at Ted's new rural house and were instantly lusting for each other.

This story was set in the author's A Step Between Realms universe. The almost 19-year-old wolf shifter beta virgin FMC Melody revealed as an omega instead after she met her spirit-bonded 26-year-old Alpha shifter neighbors while attending college and living at home with her parents. She planned on secretly spending first omega heat with her hot neighbors while her parents were out of town.

The immature horny FMC with lusty older self-described "man whores" was not my cup of tea. DNF at Chapter 3 of 9 when the men were discussing their plan to sleep with their young fated-mate omega neighbor.

This story was a dark romance teaser for an upcoming novel. Triggers included stalking, somnophilia, dub-con and birth control manipulation and "more" (undetailed in the blurb). Many of those explicitly stated were not to my taste.

This was a short story in the author's Coveted Prey: Sweet Monsters universe. It followed the virgin human slave Pipa after she literally ran into the young orc Murl while trying to escape. Her human overseer caught up and was about to punish her escape attempt with a fatal whipping as an example, but after her begging, Murl took her punishment instead and attempted to claim her if he could breed her by dawn. It was basically a very perfunctory rutting - not really my preferred kind of romance, but this is the first short story I managed to finish in the anthology....

Tags: sex-workers, fae, goblins, magic

This story followed the kitchen wench FMC Liana after she learned that her local fae king was looking for a royal surrogate to bear his child. Liana was very naive and was pathetically desperate in her attempt to figure out how to to cross paths with the king for the chance to improve her lifestyle. She ended up making a deal with goblin apothecary to gain access to the brothel the king would visit.

Liana was honestly so dumb and didn't even care to learn first what the favor would cost her or even what would happen to her after she bore the king's child. She continued to bully her way with no class to get what she wanted, even with the king, and somehow ended up being the sole royal concubine. The insta-lust on the part of king to the point of skipping royal duties was excessive. The pair fell in love through repeated sex rather than any other type of character development, which was very unsatisfying to me.

The ending was very abrupt, and the story stopped before Liana gave birth or got a true HEA with the defeat of the villain. I was left quite irritated by the end due to the pacing and lack of closure.

This story followed the human 24-year-old senator's daughter Roslin after she was held hostage by the local mafia due to her father breaking his demon contract.

It was unclear to me until halfway through the story that the criminal group Demons were actually physical demons and that Roslin knew the MC Ian was a demon shifter. The smut between Roslin and Ian and final battle scene between Ian and his hired boss over Roslin both came out of nowhere, and the graphic gratuitous violence and torture for revenge was a little much for me. I was not a fan of the overall pacing and character development.

This was book one from the author's Seahorse Tavern series. From the blurb, this was a second-chance romance involving the FMC Branley with the MC Lucas after he ditched her after their prom before finding out she was pregnant. I skipped due to my lack of interest in pure contemporary romance.

This story followed the 21-year-old virgin omega FMC Lily as she married the alpha Rowan after he courted for a few months before offering to claim her. We were told that she was previous attacked by an alpha and traumatized, but it took most of the story until she spit out what happened, even after she was already mated and threatened by her abuser.

The virgin consummation scene was a little over the top for me. Lily was so incredibly innocent and helpless and had no self motivation to learn and improve herself that it got on my nerves. I also found it super confusing that this ABO world had wolves and beasts inside each person, but nobody ever shifted in the story from what I could tell. I didn't understand the point of having inner wolves at all.

Overall, it was very shallow and dramatic for my taste, and I didn't really care for the characters or the setting.

DNF at Chapter 2 of 6 after Lucifer visited the MC Natalia to get what he was owed. I didn't find the bratty immature humor funny and had no interest in reading more about their relationship. Honestly, I think this author just isn't for me - I can't recall ever super liking anything I've read by this author so far and will probably avoid their writing in the future.

I don't know how to rate this because I have no idea what I just read or if I liked it. This coming from someone who reads monster gang bangs with a cup of herbal tea to relax. I didn't think breeding was a kink of mine and I still don't think so now. But hey, to each their own. Plus, charity anthology. Happy to help with that.

when typos are all you see

The blurb of the first story was a mess. Then the first sentence: My suit made me feel like a billionaire dollars. Are you kidding me? If you can’t proofread or hire an editor, why should I waste my time?

It’s even more funny to see the typos in the trademark legalese before the beginning even starts. Thanks, but no thanks.

Collection/Anthology

Length: 693 pages

Included in the anthology:

His Incentive by Genni Bee: Loren is used to doing whatever it takes to win in business, but this time his potential business partner has a stipulation: Loren can have the business if he also takes the partner's granddaughter, Wren, as his wife and gets her pregnant within the year. Loren thinks that he might simply marry her and stay away for the year, ensuring that she doesn't get pregnant; he'll still get half the business, after all. But once he meets her, he starts rethinking his business plan; putting a baby in her sounds like the best part of the agreement.

The Omega Next Door by Elizabeth Austin: Melody thought she was a beta, but she suddenly presents as an omega when a couple of hot alphas move in next door. Once Ryder and Cody catch a whiff of the new omega, they realize that Melody is the omega they've been waiting for to complete their pack.

Perception by J.M. Shipley: Hailey found herself in trouble one evening, under attack in a back room. Holden saves her and quickly becomes obsessed. Hailey finds herself with a stalker and Holden manages to save her more than once. But everything is not as it seems, and when Hailey tries to get away, she has more than a stalker to deal with.

Mastered by the Orc by L.V. Lane: A story in the Coveted Prey series. Pipa, human, has been taken as a slave for the Orcs. On the ship to her new destination she runs afoul of the slavers, but a young orc, Murl, offers to save her. He has one night to get her pregnant in order to claim her as his mate and save her from punishment and slavery.

Seducing the Fae King by Kayla St. James: The three kings of the land have a tradition of taking a surrogate to sire the next generation of kings. Liana has no intention of living a life of abject poverty if she can help it, so she slips into the brothel where the king chooses his concubines and she manages to catch Venali's attention. But what happens when she does get pregnant? Will her future be secure and will it lie with the king or on her own?

No Accident by Maggie Alabaster and Jo Bradley: Lucas's brother, head of a crime family, insists that Lucas find a way to distract Amity, daughter of another crime family, and keep her busy, maybe tying her to them in a permanent way. It's no hardship for Lucas...or for his friends Paul and Bray.

Our Illicit Desires by Tate Monroe and Rory Ireland: Zoey comes home from college expecting to be able to stay with her mom and stepdad after breaking up with her boyfriend. They've sold the house and moved on without telling her though, so they arrange for her to move in with her stepdad's brother, Silas, for a while, until she can get her feet under her. But the tension between the two of them might just send her running before she can figure things out.

Her Demon Keeper by TL Reeve and Michele Ryan: Roslin has been given as payment to Dominic the Demon for her father's debt. His enforcer, Ian, a Bocanaigh, has decided to claim Roslin as his mate (or at least the mother of his child). He simply has to break the contract her father made with Dominic. No problem.

Always You by Laura Lovett: Brinley was a high school senior in love with her slightly older bad boy. When Lucas disappeared on the night of prom, he left her heartbroken...and pregnant. Four years later he's back, but can she risk that heartbreak again?

Spring Blossoms by Kitt Lynn: Rowan is a kind, gentle alpha who has always wanted Lily as his own. The sweet omega is skittish beyond what is normal, though, and her new mate is determined to find out why.

The Devil's Bargain by M.J. Marstens: His Fallen Spawn. Natalia wasn't sure what she expected when she sold her soul to the devil, but he intends for her to become his queen...and the mother of his children.

My favorite: Spring Blossoms with Lily the shy omega - it was sweet and hit the spot. The story by LV Lane was well-written also.

Some of the stories were a little more new adult than I like (both in style and characters). However, all the stories were easy to read, and although the writing quality varied from story to story, it was an overall enjoyable anthology.

*Review for Our Illicit Desires by Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe*

After Zoey discovers that her boyfriend has blown all of her money she saved for a trip and then all of her money in her savings account, she dumps him without a backwards glance and moves out. She arrives at her childhood home thinking she could stay there until she saves enough money to get her own place, just to discover that it’s been sold without her knowledge. After a phone call to her mom, she winds up staying at her step-uncle’s house to stay for a few weeks.

Silas is quiet, cold, and domineering; he likes everything to be a certain way and isn’t fond of Zoey disrupting his life. There’s also the fact that he’s been resisting his attraction to Zoey over the last few years and having her in his home isn’t helping with that. As the days go by, Zoey and Silas can’t help the growing attraction and the sexual tension anymore. Silas tried to warn her that he has a breeding kink but if anything, it just made her want him more.

This was short, full of angst, great banter, some steam, and I can’t wait for the full novel!

Always You by Laura Lovett

While this may not be one of my go-to tropes, I was blown away that this was not only addictive AF, but this author’s debut.

I hadn’t even meant to read it all in one sitting, and yet once I started, there was no way I was going to stop until I devoured every word. The angsty start made it impossible to do anything but to find out what took place to cause the possessive bad boy to leave his woman without so much as a text.

I love it when authors can bring out emotions in you before you’re even slightly invested in the characters, and that’s exactly what Lovett did. I knew nothing about these characters, but Brinley’s emotions bled out into those first pages. The heartache, the doubt, the loss, all of it was so heartbreakingly brought to life that my heart was invested in her happily ever after before I even knew anything about her.

If you love possessive AF anti-heroes that will stop at nothing to claim what’s theirs, then not only is this story for you, but seeing as this was addictive and not even a full length novel, I’m calling it now that this is an author to keep an eye on. I’m already looking forward to reading about characters that I’ve only just met.
Brinley was a high school senior with her whole life ahead of her, and the life she saw playing out was one that included her boyfriend. Until he disappeared, leaving her with nothing more than memories and heartbreak. Lucas disappeared without a trace and dropped back into Brinley’s life with no warning. He had less than zero efs to give. He was getting his girl back by any means necessary.

I loved how the intensity of their connection never waned. Even as the years had come and gone, it was clear what they shared was of that soul-encompassing sort. The kind that leaves you feeling as though a part of you is missing if, for any reason, you are torn apart once you initially find one another.

I adored the secondary characters, and I can’t wait to read more about them. These friends have very different personalities, but the love they have for one another is unwavering.

Lovett isn’t holding any punches with her debut. She flawlessly pulled me into this world within a few words. The angst in the prologue ensnared my emotions, and the engaging, witty banter between characters has me wholly invested in what’s to come. An unputdownable blend of searing chemistry, a possessive AF anti-hero, a drop of angst, a dash of heartbreak, witty engaging banter, and white-hot steam. I guarantee Lovett is an author you won’t want to miss.

This was a fun collection of short stories that were put together for a great cause. Each story hits up a different kind of breeding kink in a more smutty way ;) If you like omegaverse, monsters or 'just' possessive alphas, this is worth checking out :D

Hold on to your butts cause I got something to say about every single one of these stories.

First, though I need to preface this by saying that having the least edited story be your first story was no bueno. It was almost bad enough that I didn't continue...but I did.

Secondly, overall the stories were hit-and-miss. Most were fine. Some were so short though that I was left wondering what even happened. So this was a solid 3-star read and I did find at least one author I'll be following up with so there is a silver lining.

Okay, here we go:

Story 1: As stated above - was very much not edited. I'm not talking little things either (example: "So I" was written as "Si"). A quick, read by the author themselves would have caught most of those mistakes - heck microsoft word would have. So it was very lazy and that was a turn-off. There was also a case of disappearing and reappearing clothes while describing scenes. Like, the guy approached the shower shirtless but when he opened the shower door he reached up to take off his shirt....yeah... The FMC in this also acted more like a 12-year-old instead of a 20-something-year-old. She danced around and giggled so much that I thought she was prepubescent. Solid 1 star, will not look for this author for anything, ever.

Story 2: Cute omegaverse, was a bit awkward at first because we learn things retrospectively so that made the story a little wonky. My only complaint with this was it ended really suddenly. We don't find out what happens when the parents get home or anything like that. 4 stars will check out the author.

Story 3: Definitely pay attention to the trigger warnings on this one. Somnophilia sounded like it was gonna be super bad, but I found it to be the least offensive thing that happened lol. This is definitely a darker, stalker-to-lover read, so if you want to tackle it be prepared for psycho. 3 Stars

Story 4: Very short and to the point, each "chapter" kept stating it was from Piper's pov but...there was ONLY pipers pov so that was just weird. I actually wished for more on this story and ended up liking the orc lead. 4 stars will check out more from this author.

Story 5: FMC was naive and a bit stupid, honestly. It really wasn't a bad story other than that though. There wasn't a real conclusion however and it left me feeling like I was left on a cliff. 3 stars.

Story 6: This one was RH but was WAY too quick of a story. It was literally like...only a couple of pages long. I would have loved to have seen more of the characters and more of a story. I did like this authors writing style a lot though so I'll look into them more, however for this I'm only giving 2 stars because there just wasn't anything there to really judge.

Story 7: No trigger warnings I recall but I will state it is semi-taboo. Sexy and a bit cute. 4 stars.

Story 8: Not bad on this one, would have liked a quick background on the world with demons in it. So at first I thought "demons" was just a metaphor or something but apparently, they were real in that world. Otherwise was pretty good. 4 stars.

Story 9: Needs a trigger warning for discussions of miscarriages. Otherwise, it was a good second chance story and I enjoyed it quite a bit. 5 stars.

Story 10: Needs trigger warnings for past discussions of SA and abuse. This was another omegaverse set in a world that seemed old-fashioned. I liked it a lot and thought it was cute. Had a solid ending to the story as well. 5 stars.

Story 11: So short I'm not even sure why it was put in this book. Not even long enough to give an opinion honestly. 1 star.

3 stars because I've read only two stories and cannot rate the rest of the anthology.

Genni Bee: His Incentive - 3 stars
Cute characters, as it's very short, the spice got more room than the story. I would love to have a full novel of this where they really learn to love each other.

Kitt Lynn: Spring Blossoms - 3.5 stars
Very cute shifter novella. I liked Rowan immensely.
I do wonder in which kind of era this is supposed to be set. It doesn't seem industrial, but also not medieval, and some aspects seem so modern. Then I wonder how unaccomished the omega girls are. There doesn't seem to be a school and the girls are supervised at home. Later is the daughter of bakers, but cannot bake or cook. Mina is part of a sewing circle and supposedly 21. Summer is 19 and said to be not very good yet with her embroidery and she would need more time. Seriously, girls younger than 10 were expected to excel in this kind of thing in previous centuries. And even in the 20th century girls were taught to lead a household. Very strange...

OUR ILLICIT DESIRES - Rory Ireland & Tate Monroe

1st person/dual pov
Spice: 4/5

Oh boy I cannot wait to read more of Silas and Zoey! This was such a fun read and I devoured it!
Zoey is betrayed by her boyfriend, a man she thought she could trust, and forced to move back home. With her mom and stepdad out of town she temporarily takes up residence with her stepdads younger brother, Silas.
Silas agreed to house Zoey until she can get her situation sorted out but he didn’t realize how much having her in his space would effect him. He knows it’s wrong and tries to ignore her but when he’s pushed to his limit waiting for her to walk through the door late one night that’s all it takes. He’s barreling across that line and taking matters into his own hands when it comes to Zoey.
These two together are explosive! The teasing and the push/pull is so good. But the kink… oh my the breeding kink this man has! 😮‍💨
I. Am. Here. For. It.
Such a great short story and I have no doubt that when we get more of these two their story is going to be smoking hot!

A smutty good time

Bred is a Whitman’s chocolate sampler of breeding kinks in smut. There’s a little something for everyone, including my fellow monster lovers.

This anthology has a wider range of spicy romance than my usual anthology picks. Normally, I go for anthologies dedicated to monster romance in every story. So I admit I kept to specific stories in this anthology for the sake of reviewing.

Mastered by the Orc by L.V. Lane

Seducing the Fae King by Kayla St. James

Her Demon Keeper by TL Reece and Michele Ryan

The Devil’s Bargain by M. J. Marstens

These all ticked off some form of the breeding kink readers would be looking for, which is obviously fun. The monster choices lean more humanoid than not. Orcs, demons, pretty and elven-like Fae are fairly safe monster choice but enjoyable nevertheless. This is a series I would recommend to my fellow smut lovers in general.

Part of the BRED : A Charity Anthology

**Review**
I loved this novella! I can not want for more of this duo! Im blown away by the push and pull of the relationship. Their forced proximity is fire and you can feel the tension coming off!

Silas and Zoey are amazing together! I love the taboo slight age gap here! Silas is totally over the top possessive over Zoey. Especially going all caveman on her at her job. Zoey is a little brat with her “Uncle”! It makes me laugh and I love that she gets him so riled up!

I cant wait for more of them! This was such a tease!

eh..It was ok. I honestly don’t know what to expect. I’ve never read a book here it’s like 10 books in one. So obviously there were some books in here that I’ve already read (there’s nothing wrong with that) but most of these books just didn’t interest me, and I ended up skipping them. I honestly don’t know why I picked this up lol.
Most likely because I was going through a reading slump and wanted something to excite me and get me back into the books. Did this achieve it? Yes/ no, because I have started reading more since I started this.
But overall, I think I’ll stick to reading one book, and not 10 books in one 😅

*** Review for Our Illicit Desires by Rory and Tate***

I am reviewing Rory and Tate’s story for this Anthology. I really enjoyed this short story, but it is one that will definitely leave you wanting more! The heat level and the chemistry were very steamy.

Zoey and Silas may have an age difference, but their attraction to each other is one that cannot be denied. I love that even though it goes against everything Silas feels, he still helps Zoey in more ways than one.

I can’t wait to read the rest of their story! Definitely worth the read.

Our Illicit Desires:
Even though this was a short story it was so addicting! Zoey has been through some things and her life is at a turning point. She is down but not out. She is a fierce FMC and I adored her. She agrees to stay with her step-uncle, Silas. And what a great decision that turned out to be! Silas is HOT and knows exactly what he wants. While he might think his preferences are good for Zoey, she doesn’t hesitate to prove to him she wants the same things. This story definitely fits this anthology and I can’t wait to read the rest of the stories!

Our Illicit Desires — Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe

This was such a fun, short, and spicy read.

Nothing like your trust being broken by your ex and then having to move back into your hometown to recuperate. Only to find out your childhood home is getting sold, your mom and step father are out of town, and your saving grace is your step father’s younger brother.

The banter, the push and pull, the angst. Yeah, tensions are high and my oh my does it only take one night for those desires to come full force.

Oh and the breeding kink? *chefs kiss*

The Omega Next Door - Elizabeth Austin

Quick novella about a Beta wolf named Melody who had her dormant Omega Wolf triggered by her new neighbors. Melody was an 18 year old recent high school graduate on her way to college to pursue her love of music.

Ryder and Cody are Alpha wolves who are new to the neighborhood who has been pining after the Little Onega The first time they saw her.

There was really no Plot. The story was centered around a young Beta/Omega Wolf approaching her first Heat and the Alpha's who Mated and Claimed her as their own.

Review for The Omega Next Door by Elizabeth Austin

This story is a hot one. I love that while Cody and Ryder are Alphas, they were patient with Melody and were all about her needs just as much as theirs. Cody and Ryder are Ying and Yang. Yet, they are good together. The three of them are soulmates.

I thought Cody was the good guy and Ryder having a bit more of the rougher side, but Cody surprised me. Let's just say that I won't be able to think of strawberry pie and blueberry smoothies without thinking of these two Alphas.

✨Our Illicit Desires✨
by Rory Ireland & Tate Monroe

This dirty duo is quickly becoming one of my faves! Not afraid to push the envelope, they take forbidden/taboo and make it insanely hot and appealing. They do a possessive alpha just right, I’m looking at you Silas. And I love their fiery FMC - there’s no steamrolling Zoey. This steamy, quick read has the right amount of angst and banter that leave me begging for more of these two. Can’t wait for their full story!

Our Illicit Desires - Rory Ireland & Tate Monroe

AHHHH! I cannot wait for more Silas and Zoey. Our Illicit Desires in the BRED Anthology is a little snippet into the introduction to these two. Silas is all dark and broody and possessive, just the way I like 'em. Zoey is feisty and is trying to get her life back on track.

These two have so much tension and when the damn breaks... 🥵🥵🥵 They will be getting a full length novel and I am SO excited!!!

I read The Omega Next Door by Elizabeth Austin. I only wish this was longer 😢 I loved Harmony, Cody and Ryder. Talk about 2 hunky neighbors who are sweet, kind and just oh so hot 🥵 I mean they build a comfy nest in their house for their omega neighbor who doesn't even know them yet *swoon*. This was definitely a read where the smut is the plot, but this had so much heart and comfort in such a short novella

DAMN!! That was hot! Zoey and Silas’ story was filled with angst, drama, emotional turmoil and a hell of a lot of very steamy and highly erotic moments that I could not get enough of. It’s a taboo, age-gap forbidden romance that was explosive and kinky. This was one story that left me a sopping mess at the end.

I devoured every deliciously sexy moment of this story, and I can’t wait for more of these two.

Hot 🥵🥵🥵

Our Illicit Desires by Rory Ireland and Tate Monroe
Phew!!
This was too little of a snipit of this delicious forbidden relationship. Silas and Zoey are off the charts hot. Zoey needs a place to stay after shes done with her scum ex. She finds that her mom and step dad are off living life and can't stay with them so her step dad asks his brother for her to stay for a bit. Silas (chefs kiss) try's real hard to keep his distance but Zoey has to test his restraint

This was a bit hit and miss.
Some of the stories were good, some had weird pacing.
There were also loads of spelling mistakes and a few continuity errors.
I think the whole thing could have done with a bit more editing and checking through.

On a positive note the stories by Kitt Lynn and J M Shipley were really enjoyable. I look forward to the latters being turned into a full length book.
