Held captive by the Alchemist tribe controlled by dragons, Noah finds his long lost sister, who is now an alchemist and worshiper of dragons. He must save her or die trying. But she has no interest in being saved. Worse still, the ruthless enemies of the Alchemists, known as Scalers, seek to destroy Noah and the tribe of Alchemists who have taken him captive. Noah’s only hope now is to find the Silver Dragons who once helped his father, Jack, overcome the darkness.
Ted Dekker is known for novels that combine adrenaline-laced stories with unexpected plot twists, unforgettable characters, and incredible confrontations between good and evil. Ted lives in Austin with his wife LeeAnn and their four children.
Not my favorite book in the series, but definitely still enjoyed it. A little more slower than the other books, but there were some parts that stood out to me.
Noah is sent off on his Passage ( a journey of The Light bringers) and hopes to find himself but instead he finds a stranger who tells him he knows his long lost sister whom he lost and thought was drown when she was just a toddler. Only, who took her is one of their neighboring dragon villages and raises her as the kings daughter. She has a brother there also who hates that she is going to be the next heir and wants it for himself. But through the forced traveling they find a mutual goal of saving Serenity from Hades and their evil dragons. Hades can’t believe they have the son of the foretold light bringer and wishes to see his power that they think is fake. Noah can’t bring himself to get any light going through him and thinks he is a failure… until he is faced with a evil dragon himself and now has to defend himself , or die trying to live. The light he puts off scares the dragon into flight and brings fear to everyone around him, but now it’s posed a problem. He is being put to hang the next day. Sorrowful and thinking of his parents he doesn’t know how he will get out of this pickle, but someone helps him to escape along with Torin on the dragons.
“You can’t really fail, Noah. You can only learn.”
Daughter of the Alchemist is full of fantastic fantasy.
Book two of The Dragons Among Us follows Noah and Torin on their journey to save their sister. Along the way help is given by some old friends, friends that will be needed later. The road then takes them to massive Scaler city where Serenity is held. Can they sneak past these skilled warriors or will they be captured and thrown in the cell just like their sister?
Ted and Rachelle Dekker continue this story in a remarkable way. Introducing new characters to love and some to frustrate. The way that Persia was introduced drew me in. Making her the enemy that’s lovable was an incredible choice. Her question and compassion for the unknown read well. The worshiping ceremony of King Damien and Queen Mara was enough to have me quivering. And again with an ending wanting more. I’ve noticed that the second book in a trilogy tends to be the strongest. We’ll see if that’s true for this series as well.
AHHHHH THIS AHHH It’s sooooo gooooooooooood!!!! i don’t have the next book tho, and you can’t buy it anywhereeeeee i’m going to cry, but other then that, whoever is reading this should most definitely read this book and the series it’s in and the series before it. i think noah and persia may have something in store for the future 🤨🫶
Honestly, this one slapped. There was one typo where they put the wrong characters name, and I really don’t like that. I’m fully aware I’m reading this series for my daughter, but I myself am fully invested at this point and am bummed that the next book in the series is in her room and she’s asleep. 😂
Another great dragon adventure! I did think this one was a bit more graphic or intense for kids than the other ones but other than that, it was great! I liked getting to see the differences between the three groups of people. I thought it was really prominent in this one.
This book took us the longest time to get through. I don’t know if we were just really busy the last four weeks or if the story is less interesting, but we’re excited to almost be done with this series!
This is a clean Middle Grade fantasy series. If you're a middle grader, and you like dragons, then this is the book series for you. The Dragons Among Us is a continuation of what happens after the And They Found Dragons series. See my full review at "https://cooperhite.com/book-reviews/"
This book is a lot darker than the ones that came before it. However, I believe that darkness is just to show us how strong the light can be. I’m looking forward to the final book!
Much darker than the others in the series. We like it but don’t love it. Skimmed one chapter to get through the dark parts. My son just doesn’t like that. “I get it!” In his words. Haha
Great read and lead up to the final book! Still my only qualm with this series is finding a few typos that are disruptive and briefly take me out of the story, but otherwise well written.
