A heartwarming holiday romance with small town charm and Christmas cheer, perfect for reading by the fireside as you curl up under a cozy blanket.
Sarah Langston used to run Sweet Thing Bakery with her parents and her sister, but ever since her parents moved to Arizona and her sister married an Olympic skier, she’s been managing the shop on her own. Although baking has always been her passion, she can’t help feeling a bit lonely and adrift as the holidays approach. She’s made sacrifices to keeping the shop running, but has her devotion to her bakery kept her from finding love all these years?
Returning to Snowy Pine Ridge after several years away, William Parks is surprised to run into Sarah. He remembers her as an awkward teenager, the younger sister of his high school sweetheart, Michelle, and is floored by the beautiful, vivacious woman she’s become.
The holidays are usually the best time for Sarah’s business, as the locals all flock to the cozy shop in search of sweet treats and warm hot cocoa—but the Christmas cheer is dimmed when financial troubles threaten the future of her bakery. With William’s help, she works to save her beloved business, even as sparks fly between the two of them.
With a sprinkling of hope and the magic of mistletoe, can Sarah and William rescue Sweet Thing Bakery… and find their way to each other’s hearts?
I'm sorry but this book was awful. Too many obvious things that didn't make sense. This is supposed to be such a small town, yet this guy had not heard from a single soul that his high school sweetheart was married? And seriously, this woman wants to dye her blond hair black, because her crush had pictures with dark haired women on social media. That is just embarrassing and makes her so unlikable. Ugh
I didn’t enjoy this one as much as the first. The setting and people are all so enjoyable but the main storyline creeped me out a little. Guy comes back to his hometown to rekindle his relationship with his highschool girlfriend but falls for her sister instead…😬
The “problem” in this story felt a little odd too -Lacy encouraging Sarah to tell her sister the truth about Will and to tell Will the truth about her sister. 🙃
A forced love triangle that’s not actually a love triangle?

"Snowy Pine Ridge series" book 2 of that series. November 3, 2022 was released. holiday fiction (kindle store & books). women's friendship fiction. i enjoyed it. not my first read by LD. i will always pick up more. Kindle FIRE was how i read it through KU. awesome! cute book cover. will read more from FB soon. can't wait.
I absolutely loved reading the Sweet Christmas Wish, book 2 of the Snowy Pine Ridge series by Fiona Baker. First it takes place in a small town in NH, in the winter. Nothing beats New England at Christmas time. The characters are well thought out, and, Sarah and Will remind me so much of my husband and myself that it is crazy. Fiona does a good job at filling in what happened in the first book, and moves the stories forward at a great pace. No need to read the first in the series, but as always, it is better if you do to get the full impact of her storytelling. I couldn’t put it down and read it straight through. If you are looking for a book with the “Christmas Feelies” , this book is for you. Can’t wait for the third and hoping that she writes more of this series in the future.
This book takes place months later after Lacy moved to Snowy Pine Ridge to be with her beau Derek, who runs Winter Run Racing in town, giving dogsledding lessons and hosting racing events.
Sarah Langston runs Sweet Thing Bakery her family bakery. Though her mother and sister Michelle had long since left leaving her to run the bakery by herself.🧁 🥯
William Parks is returning to his hometown of Snowy Pine Ridge on vacation. He has been living and working as an accountant in New Jersey for the past few years.
And, of course, he also hopes to reconnect with his high school sweetheart—Michelle Langston.
But when William heads to the bakery to meet with Michelle he meets Michelle’s sister Sarah instead. Sarah informs him that Michelle has moved from Snowy Ridge. She neglects to mention that Michelle is married.
Sarah can’t seem to take her mind off William after their encounter at the bakery and soon they become good friends.
Earlier Sarah had taken a loan for the industrial oven in her bakery and she was due to pay up. When she shares her concerns with Will, he suggests serving coffee and other drinks alongside her baked goods.
An arrangement that seems to be working because they managed to make a profit to pay off the espresso machine and coffee supplies and now have enough money to pay off her upcoming bill for the oven.
As Sarah starts developing feelings for Will, she wonders if he’ll reconsider staying back in Snowy Pine Ridge.
Lacy now lives in St Nick’s mansion which she inherited from her grandfather. She lives in parts of the house, but the rest is open for events and tours because of its beautiful architecture and interiors.
She’s fully restored the mansion to its former glory and has even set up her consulting firm in town and now splits her time between Snowy Pine and St. Louis where she lived and worked.
Book 2 of the series focuses on the local bakery. Sweet story minus conflict. I was disappointed in this one. For reference, I gave the first book in the series 5 stars.
The reader was really hit over the head with the “there are no coffee shops but William is a master barista!” and it was so unnaturally presented and unbelievable, especially with Sarah serving beverages to Lacy in book one of the series.
There were other inconsistencies, like how Clark was “the natural person for Will to call for help transporting the machine” when Clark had called Derek to help Lacy to move things from the hardware store in book one because Derek had a truck.
Sarah was also very frustrating, complaining about not knowing how to pay the bills while simultaneously constantly offering things “on the house.”
This just didn’t seem as carefully crafted as book one.
Fiona Baker's Sweet Christmas Wish is primarily a blossoming love story between two hard-working dreamers. Sarah owns the aptly named Sweet Thing Bakery. She is an excellent baker, but not a very good financial organizer,. When her sister's former boyfriend Will comes to town on a skiing vacation, her uses his skills to help her with the bakery's finances. Sometimes I felt like I was watching an "I Love Lucy" skit with Sarah's attempts to make Will like her more. Despite many mishaps, you can't help but love this couple. Lacy and Derek from the previous book make great strides in their relationship. This series is absolutely a winner !
I thought it was another great book, if only a few small things...
Why couldn't literally anyone else in town tell Will that Michelle was married? And in that case, why couldn't/didn't anyone tell Michelle that Will was in town? And BOTH of them... didn't care?!?!
Dying her hair just to get him to "like her"? When she didn't even know who those women were or if brunettes really were his type? Ugh.
Also, *spoiler*... it was a little odd that Derek went to a gravesite to ask for permission to propose? I don't know; just seemed silly to me.
I don't know how I would feel after finding out my baker worked all day WITH A COLD. 😳
Sarah and Will's story begins with Will coming home for vacation thinking he will try to get back together with Sarah's sister Michelle. But the time he and Sarah spend together bring them closer. Michelle is due back with her husband that Will doesn't know about and Sarah hasn't told Michelle that she has feelings for Will. Love, laughter, great storyline and wonderful characters!
Sarah who runs a bakery in town feels something is missing in her life. Her sister who is married and travels now with her husband. Sarah is not jealous but lost. Then one day, William her sisters high school sweetheart comes to town. He wants to see if the old flame can be rekindled with the older sister. Then he sees a Sarah. He tenderness for her and grows slowly, after a few accidents, Sarah and William start a new relationship.
This was not an interesting read. It was one of those where I could read it or skip it. I just had one major issue with this book.
You're telling me that no one, no one, in that town knew that Michelle married BUT her sister, Sarah? I'm calling bullshit. Michelle had NO friends that she kept in touch with? Not one?!? I'm calling bullshit again. Completely unbelievable. And I'd never date my sister's ex, no matter how long ago they had been together. That's just yuck.

I have really enjoyed getting to know the characters through each book. Lacey and Derek sprinkled throughout the story of Sarah and Will. I loved getting to know Will and know Sarah better. This story was a heartwarming read and full of small town charm. I truly enjoyed reading all the books in this series so far and excited for book three!!
Sarah was working the Sweet Things bakery by herself. She had an afternoon girl who. came into help. An old high school friend came to Snowy Pine Ridge foe a vacation. He loved skiing. His name was Will and he had a thing for Michelle in high school. He had hoped to see her on this trip to town. Lots of excitement and love in this story, just enjoy.
I wanted to like this book so much more. But it was worse than the first of this series. Like the first it had no big event the set things off it was just bland the entire time. I’m glad it was just a short book I read it in a day but could’ve lived with out reading it. Hopefully the third will be better. You need to read in order because it refers back to the first book so much.
Almost didn't read this one after discovering the love story is based on the little sister dating big sister's ex/high school sweetheart. Gives me the ick as an eldest sibling. I stuck around to find out anything juicy on the couple from the first installment but honestly, there is no actual conflict in these books. Too boring and unrealistic for me.
If you love bakeries, the smells, sound and community or enjoy fancy coffees this story is made for you. The story line continues easily from the previous book, while giving just enough detail for anyone who came upon this book first. Small town blessings in ski country offers a warm welcome.
Sarah was so surprised to see Will, her sister's high school sweetheart, appear in the family bakery which she ran by herself. She knew she needed a change in her life, but was unprepared for what was about to happen. This love story develops gradually, especially since Will had plans to meet up with Sarah's sister Michelle. Love in unexpected places can turn out to be the best!
Being a lover of women's romance, this book and its characters and the whole series is quickly climbing to the top of my list. The pace of the book moves nicely it doesn't force anything and you really get to know these characters. I love the flow of the story and her ability to add descriptions and moments without going overboard.
Sweet Christmas Wish is exceptionally sweet and delightful. Everyone is so hard working and happy enjoying the beautiful snow; it sounds like heaven. Almost to good to be true! Lacy is now engaged and Sarah is happy in her work & relationship with Will. Don't miss this sweet series; you definitely need to recover from hectic holidays.
It’s a hallmark movie in a book-but with fewer wrenches thrown in the works! If you’re looking for a small winter town easy love story - this is it! I do love the friendships between the other characters even more the budding romance.
It’s a fun and easy christmasy read that’ll make you want to move to New Hampshire!
There is not much I can say that I have not written in previous reviews. “Sweet Christmas Wish” was another home run! The characters, the setting, the relationships and friendships are are all exceptionally written. The way the story is told, you can almost visualize everything and everyone.
I like the whole book. Not one chapter was draggy. It kept my attention all the way through. I just love reading Fiona Baker's books they are the best. I cant wait to order the next book. ❤
I love how this story continued with the romance between Lacy and Derek while also introducing a new relationship in the process. Everything blended well together.
Nothing to dislike. What a great writer, and I can't hardly wait to start on the next one of the series. I will follow Fiona Baker from now on. She makes one feel as if they could really visit SNOWY PINE RIDGE.
This little town has really grown on me. I loved that the second book still included Lacy and Derrick and a peek into their new lives. This was sweet, innocent, heart warming, and the perfect read for a cold December night.
