Perfect for gifting anytime of the year. The physical copy makes a nice hostess gift to be used as a coffee table book or for storytelling to keep children entertained. The Kindle version is nice to have ready while in a waiting room.
The story itself is cute. I did chuckle a few times. The ending is what makes this universally giftable. The moral of the story was beautifully displayed. You don't take something that is not yours without asking, no matter how good your intention. The point was well-written and illustrated. Following the final point, there is an illustration that warmed my heart, and had audibly awww.
I was a little creeped out by Santa's eyes, however, I'm well past the targeted group. Otherwise, I liked the vibrant colors and thought the illustrations flowed well from page to page, but his eyes.
What happens when Santa looses his sleigh. A humorous account of the chaos that happens when we lose anything. Kiddos will find this funny - the illustrations hit home run with the humor but also the frantic search that ensues. Between the elves and reindeer much laughter to be had and a lesson to be learned. You must ask before you take.
A special thank you to Books Go Social and Netgalley for the ARC and the opportunity to post an honest review.
Entertaining. Colorfully illustrated picture book with Santa searching for his lost sled. The rhyming lines tell the easily followed story and there even is a lesson to be learned. I can easily see reading it to younger children and lower school grades. Thank you NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and the author for a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
Vibrant colors with comedic styling, accompanied by a fair rhyming text make “Santa’s Lost Sleigh” a fun story for young and old alike.
I viewed this picture book on both my iPhone ProMax and iPad Air in landscape position and the display worked perfectly. All features functioned flawlessly and the text is easy to read.
Author, Rachel Hilz, includes a lesson about stealing or taking something without permission as part of the storyline. It’s easy to create a conversation surrounding the events and how all the various characters are affected. Additionally, parents won’t have any trouble making personal applications for their kids.
My only issue with this book was the text didn’t use “reindeer” consistently when speaking about the animals pulling Santa’s Sleigh. They were called DEER, at times, which I assume the author tho’t necessary for the rhyming scheme. I disagree. Furthermore, she referred to Santa’s wife as “Dear Mrs. Claus” which is going to be confusing to some early or newer readers. Simplicity is best with this age group.
Easily edited, (or not), by older readers for the younger, “Santa’s Lost Sleigh” is a seasonal good time with an important lesson to be learned in a colorful and entertaining format 📚
Santa's Lost Sleigh had fun illustrations and characters, but the story itself was not very appealing. Santa's sleigh goes missing and Santa and the elves look all over to find it. They figure out that one of the reindeer took it to pick up a gift for Mrs. Santa. We talked a lot about the illustrations and the idea that taking something without asking is wrong. We also talked about what might have happened if he had an accident. The rhyming text was okay, but there were a few spots where the cadence was a bit off. Overall, this was a cute story, but not one we would probably read again.
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher and all opinions expressed are entirely my own.
This is a mischievous but delightful Christmas read about Santa, his missing sleigh, and a well-meaning do good reindeer on a mission, This book made me laugh and I particularly enjoyed that Mrs. Claus had a sports car , television and Santa used words like 'my ride'. This is a short read that will have you in the festive season and is perfect for the young ones and young at heart.
This is a quirky and fun children's Christmas book, which my daughter and I enjoyed reading together. It has very colourful illustrations, and rhyming text, which children will love.
The story is about Santa waking up to find his sleigh gone. He searches high and low, but he cannot find it. Where could it be, and who could have taken it? Hopefully he will get it back on time for Christmas Day!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
Santa's sleigh is missing, where is it? This is a Christmas book, very fun, and great for the time we are living! With very cute drawings and a good story.
The artwork was beautiful and loved the rhyming of the story. Such a cute story and meaning behind it! My two year old was glued to the story the whole time!
Thank you so much to booksgosocial, Spirit Frog Press and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Santa is ready to deliver his presents when he notices his sleigh is gone, he searches high and low, here and there but to no avail, until Mrs. Claus sees it on tv.
What an amazing Christmas book, I absolutely loved this. It made me chuckle right from the start until the end it was so funny. I loved the story premise and that Santa was unable to figure out where his sleigh had gone. I loved the end result of where it actually was too.
This rhyming comedic Santa story is amazing and kids are going to absolutely love this. I highly recommend this for anyone that has young children they will adore this funny story over the holiday season.
This is such a cleverly thought out book and was so much fun to read. It has really great illustrations throughout the pages, just wait until you see Rudolf’s nose that made me laugh too. I really enjoyed reading this, any Christmassy picture books gets me to read it and this one is a new favourite it was so funny, great to look at and to read.
Many thanks to BooksGoSocial, Rachel Hilz and NetGalley for the Advance Copy of Santa's Lost Sleigh in return for my honest opinion. I read this book with my six-year-old daughter and have asked her for her opinions, as she is the target demographic for this book, after all.
She enjoyed the story of Santa losing his sleigh and followed the storyline well. She was fully able to recount the story afterwards, which is always a sign that a story is written well enough to be successful with children.
Her complaint with the story was with one of the characters: Bucky. This is a reindeer with a golden, lit-up nose, made up by the author and introduced in this book and which unfortunately my daughter has taken offense to, as she believes quite fervently in the original cannon of Santa's reindeer...and Bucky definitely isn't one of them.
We both thought the illustrations were quite nice and obviously suitably festive.,
My daughter asked me to give this 3.5 stars. As I can only give this round numbers, I've rounded it up to four!
One last fun Christmas book. Can you imagine the panic if Santa were to lose his sleigh? How would he deliver gifts? Would Christmas be ruined for children everywhere? Fortunately, catastrophe is avoided in this cute look at what might happen were Santa's sleigh to go missing on, of all nights, Christmas Eve. If you're familiar with the other books of the series, I doubt you'll be surprised who is the cause. Bucky, of course, but much panic and searching and worry ensue before Bucky and a couple pals are spied....on radar, of all things. Well, I guess that isn't too much of a stretch since they do track Santa's route on Christmas Eve nowadays. Needless to say, Christmas is saved.
As with the other books in the series, the illustrations are a delight. Wait till you see Mrs. Claus' snazzy sports car! A lesson is even taught: Don't take what doesn't belong to you, no matter how good your intentions. A fun read although I didn't find it quite as entertaining as the others in the series I've read. Still a delight, however. Phew, Bucky. What mischief will you find to get into next?
This is an adorable book and a wonderful follow-up in this series for young readers. It is not only a fun and entertaining read for littles, but for the adults in their lives as well.
The plot is great. It has a lovely lesson to always ask before taking things, especially when they don't belong to you. It reminds us that even when we are well intended, there are consequences to our actions. Still, there's always forgiveness. Lovely!
The illustrations are fantastic. They are eye-catching and pleasing. I love how Bucky (that mischievous deer) and Mrs. Claus hug inside the heart; it is so endearing!
I definitely recommend this book (and the series) for parents, teachers, and young readers. All ages will find something to delight them. In addition there is a great message in each tale and plenty of conversations starters, whether from the pictures or the text.
Quick Summary: A delightfully mischievous holiday adventure
My Review: Santa's Lost Sleigh: A Christmas Book about Santa and His Reindeer by Rachel Hilz and Remesh Ram was a super cute holiday tale about Santa, his missing sleigh, and a well-meaning reindeer on a mission.
This delightfully funny story takes readers on a comical search for one of Santa's most precious treasures. With colorful illustrations and rhyming words, readers get to witness the big guy solve a mystery. Will he solve it in time for the most wonderful day of the year? Ho, ho, hum... 🤔
Santa's Lost Sleigh is a Christmas book about Santa and his Reindeer losing his Sleigh and working together to find it. Santa is all set and ready to set off and deliver all the presents everyone at the North Pole has worked extremely hard on, but his sleigh is missing. Everyone is looking up high and down low, this way and that way but no one can seem to find the missing sleigh.
I love this book. The colors are vibrant, and the illustrations are so much fun. Seeing Santa, the Elves and all the Reindeer are adorable. The rhyming story is helpful when reading to little children and we all loved it. Great story with the Christmas Season right around the corner.
Thank you NetGalley and Spirit Frog Press for the ARC.
This is the cutest story! The pictures are bright and colorful and large enough to convey the emotions of the characters. An additional treat to this story is the rhyming of the sentences. I found myself reading it in a sing-song manner and smiled the entire time! It is short enough to hold the attention of the little ones. Definitely a keeper and a great gift idea for young ones in the family. What better way to spend an evening than to gather together with hot chocolate and cookies and read this book. Thank you to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book.
Thank you to NetGalley and BooksGoSocial for the e-book version of this book. The book is written by Rachel Hilz and illustrated by Remesh Ram. Everything I write is of my own thoughts feelings and opinions. I am in no way affiliated with or compensated for my review. This book is very entertaining and more up to date with the times in regards to modern normal everyday type things such as tv- sports car- cell phones and the like. The book aslo had a good lesson written in with the elf learning a lesson to always ask first. This is a beautifully written and illustrated short read that is festive for the season and perfect for the younger and older kids at heart.
Santa's Lost Sleigh is a fantastic book that all parents will love to read to their children. The illustrations were colorful and eye catching. Santa is all set to deliver all the presents, but his sleigh is missing. He searches everywhere he can think of when Mrs. Claus sees the sleigh on TV. The colored illustrations along with the rhyming words will be enjoyed by everyone. This is a great holiday gift for any child! Thank you NetGalley, Rachel Hilz and BooksGoSocial for the ARC of Santa's Lost Sleigh. This is my personal review.
Poor Santa has to face Christmas Eve without his sleigh! Why? How did it disappear? It's all thanks to a reindeer who forgot to ask before borrowing the sleigh for a selfless cause!
The reindeer and their antics really make this cute story. But all elements, right down to Mrs. Claus's sports car with a stocking decorating the rearview mirror, make the book a feast for the eyes.
As an e-book reader almost exclusively these days, I wish the print had been larger for an easier read.
This book was only so-so. It starts out, wanting to be in the pattern of the night before Christmas but it’s not done very well. There are times that rhyme is harsh and the cadence falls off. The story itself is almost kind of annoying. The sleigh is missing and they’re looking for it everywhere and it turns out to reindeer went off with it to bring Santa back a present. This book is fine for this Christmas and maybe the next, but I don’t expect to find it on library shelves within the next five years.
It's the night before Christmas and Bucky the reindeer has taken off with Santa's sleigh. Santa looked everywhere for his missing sleigh getting further behind in the present drop off. The elves finally found Bucky and the sleigh. He had wanted to do something special for Mrs Claus for Christmas. He wanted to get her a week at the lake with canoes. Mrs. Claus tells him while the thought was nice the sleigh wasn't his to take. Santa dashed off to deliver the packages before it was too late. The the Claus's and the elves enjoyed a nice week at the lake.
This was the cutest story told by rhyme about Santa missing his sleigh. I was waiting till I had a grandchild to read it to but found that it just as entertaining to an adult. In fact, I could appreciate the '"poetry format" more than the six-year-old did. I loved the excellent graphics, too. Very entertaining! I was fortunate to have NetGalley provide an e-book version but I think I would like to own the actual book, as well
Ideal for kids between age 4-7 - my kids enjoyed it immensely. They loved how funny it was. They really loved the rhyming couplets, it really flowed nicely in that respect and gave a very steady rhythm to the book.
The book is brilliant because it the book has been thought out and the illustrations are nice for the children, humorous, mischievous and fun!
With thanks to Netgalley for this free ARC in return for my review.
Me and my children read this book. With all the characters within. It's about santa and how his sleigh went missing. Santa notice that his sleigh is missing and must find it so he can deliver toys. Who took it and why.
This was a fun story to read. It had action and adventure throughout. And also a mystery within. The illustrations went well with the story and were colorful.
I received a complimentary copy via Netgalley. This is my honest unbiased opinions.
This is the first of Rachel Hilz book that I have read. It is funny, it rhymes, some bit wordier than others which suits us as I have a 3.5 year old reader and 1.5 year old. It is Christmas theme! Who doesn’t like Christmas, eh? And it also has 1 or 2 lessons to be learned, which helps parenting and shaping the future generation in this easily impressionable age. Love the pictures too.
Let me start by saying this is a cute Christmas book. The illustrations are bright and colorful, and the story is light-hearted. This isn't exactly what I would call compelling children's writing. The sentence variation is lackluster and the plot is a little disjointed. However, for a cute holiday read, it's not bad.
