Jule Wake's first book, Talk to Me, was published in 2014. Since then, she has written a further eighteen books, with another two in the pipeline. She has sold translation rights to various countries throughout Europe, she's had two best sellers with Covent Garden in the Snow reaching the heady height of No 2 in the Amazon Kindle chart, something she never thought she’d see and The Little Café in Copenhagen becoming a big hit in Sainsbury’s. In January 2021 The Saturday Morning Park Run was her first book to gather over 3,000 reviews on Amazon. Running and romance is a great combination!
I think this is the first Jules Wake book I've read but it won't be the last as I loved every Christmassy feel-good minute of it. From the moment clueless and somewhat spoiled Siena was met at the airport by grumpy Jason and mistook him for a chauffeur, I loved watching the relationship between the two develop. The book had everything I enjoy in a romantic novel from lighter, funny moments, to misunderstandings, to people saving the day, to a last minute airport dash. And with a trip to Paris near Christmas thrown in, what could be better? Highly recommend this heart-warming novel and will definitely be seeking out more by this author.
Oh my days, put simply is that I adored this book, to the point of waking during the night and reading a few more sneaky chapters. Preconceived ideas by Jason on Siena are made and because of his past it takes time until his mind allows them to be stripped right back. Siena is one feisty lady who is determined to stand on her own two feet and leave the glitz and wealth her life and family in France expect her to take as granted. Siena is actually nobody's fool and she has hidden talents and a heart of gold. Sexual tension between Jason and Siena fizzes throughout this book. This book has got to be on the top of you Christmas reads. A full flurry of 5 great big snowflakes ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️.
Three stars is not much, but there were some things in this book which made me downgrade the rating. I adored Siena as a character, and Jason was not bad either ;) - plus it was great to meet Lisa and Will before their Book 3 story. The plot overall was also really interesting. But. There were some really dark parts of the plot which never got a proper resolution. There were also some discrepancies between this book and Book 3, concerning Lisa's mother and grandmother, and Will's father - nothing big, but I found it irritating, even though I know this book was written earlier. But I read Book 3 first, and it is my favourite part of the series, so... Anyway, despite all these faults, I enjoyed reading Book 2, and the entire series is a rec from me.
A feel good book full of new friendships, family, love and of course lots of Christmas cheer!
The story kicks off with main character Siena on a flight to London, from reading the blurb you already understand that this wasn't a planned vacation or visit but an escape from her fiancé. Siena, hoping to stay with her sister Laurie after past promises that there would always be a room for her whenever she needed is surprised to find a grumpy but gorgeous Jason awaiting her in the arrivals hall. Not knowing who he is and assuming he is a taxi organised by Laurie and Jason coming to his own conclusions that Siena is a little bit of a princess they get off to a rocky start.
Laurie no longer lives at the cottage that Siena was planning to stay at but as promised a room is waiting for her however she soon gets a shock when she realises that the stranger who collected her Jason is also staying at the cottage after finding out Laurie is his landlady.
Jules Wake's writing is fantastic, drawing you in from the first few pages. I absolutely love when an author writes from both the female and male voice, you get that extra inside scoop understanding the characters feelings. Prime example is knowing from reading Siena's story that she isn't this precious money grabbing princess that Jason is led to believe and I loved reading how their first impressions are so far removed by the end of the story.
The locations and descriptions were on point, never having visited Paris myself this gave me a wonderful insight into Paris at Christmas time and it's now on my list of places to visit!
An easy read, this is perfect when you need a bit of me time to cosy up and shut off from the everyday chores!
Because of her rich French family Siena is used to living in luxury. She can buy whatever she likes, has the most beautiful designer clothes and she doesn't have to work. Unfortunately things aren't as great as they seem. Her fiance isn't a man she should want to marry and because of that she decides to run from home. Her sister Laurie owns a house in England and she promised Siena she'd always be welcome there, so that is where she'll go.
Siena hasn't spoken to Laurie in a while and doesn't know that someone else is living at her cottage now. His name is Jason and he's quite grumpy. He isn't happy with Siena's company, but she has her own room at the house, so he lets her stay. After a difficult start they're getting to know each other a little bit better. Even though they're from different worlds they're getting along very well. Siena even manages to find some breathing space and she learns how to live her own life now that she's away from her family. Only her stay was always meant to be temporary, she has to go back to France before Christmas...
From Paris With Love This Christmas is another wonderful story by Jules Wake. I also loved From Italy With Love. The books are linked, but they can easily be read as a standalone. The way Jules Wake describes fashion, wine, food and other good things in life, is great. She writes about the rich and the not so rich in an equally comfortable way. I like that about her writing. She manages to make her stories come to life so well. Her descriptions are vivid and colorful. When you read one of her books you can see what her main characters are seeing and feel what they are feeling.
I'm always a big fan of stories set in two countries and of course I'm also very much in love with France. It was great to read about Christmas in Paris, about the markets and the traditional Christmas food. I loved this book, it has such a good vibe. Siena is resourceful, brave and lovely. Jason is a nice guy even though he's a bit moody sometimes. They both made me smile. I loved how Siena took control of her own life and the lessons she has to learn are valuable. I highly recommend this warm and romantic Christmas story. From Paris With Love This Christmas is a book that will bring readers joy and happiness.
Another cracker of a book from Jules Wake. I was absorbed in this story right from the beginning, and the second my memory kicked in fully to remind me of the meeting between Laurie and Siena in From Italy with Love, it became even better. As I did remember Siena, I just couldn't fully place her at first.
Although this does feature small parts by characters featured in From Italy With Love, this is definitely a standalone book, with a whole new cast, and is set predominately in England, but there is a trip to Paris in the run up to Christmas that is brilliant.
Seeing Siena guide Jason around Paris is superb, and she is full of surprises throughout the book. Siena shows Jason some of the big sights, some excellent views, and also some of the bits of Paris that she knows well.
As I say Siena is surprising, not only was she continually making Jason rethink his initial opinion of her, but I was becoming more and more impressed by her, by ever passing chapter. The development of Siena's character reminds me a lot of Rachel from Friends, over the 10 series, going from reasonably clueless about the world outside the privilege she grew up in, to becoming a well rounded determined young woman.
I loved how Jason slowly changed too, and as a reader you are probably a few steps ahead of either of them, with their feelings for each other. You can see the connection deepening and the changes in Jason towards Siena are lovely.
Wonderful story set in the run up to Christmas, with some great festive touches including glittery pine cone Christmas decorations, and Siena's ability to keep cool in a crisis, once she has found a job she can do is inspiring,. We slowly learn the reason for Siena's appearance in England, at short notice, and I can't say I blame her.
I think I preferred From Italy With Love, but this comes a very close second to me, in the books I have read by Jules Wake. It may have been missing the cross-Europe road-trip but it features Christmas, and so much more, that I didn't mind.
Thanks so much to Netgalley and Harper Impulse for this review copy. This was my honest opinion.
Yes, I know it’s not Christmas but I really enjoyed this author’s first book ‘From Italy With Love’ and I do love Christmas stories, so I thought why not? I’m so glad I did. ‘From Paris With Love This Christmas’ is full of lovely characters and festive settings, with plenty of romance and fun. It features Siena, the younger sister of Laurie, the romantic heroine in From Italy With Love.’ Siena’s emotional journey is the backbone of this story and although flawed, she develops into a romantic heroine definitely worth rooting for. The romance is natural and peppered with comic moments and lots of sexual tension that culminates in a believable outcome. Jason is grumpy but loveable and the perfect foil for Siena’s emotional growth. I loved the guys in the pub and the quirky but supportive Lisa. Hope we get to read her story soon. A lovely romantic read whatever the season. I received a copy of this book from Harper Impulse via NetGalley in return for an honest review.
Jules is one of my favourite authors and I've been looking forward to reading this since I finished From Italy With Love!
And I certainly wasn't disappointed. Siena's story is a wonderful tale and she is a feisty, vulnerable, confused young woman. Appearances can be deceptive and Jason misjudged her to start with but then begins to see the grit that makes up a lot of personality.
Jason is a hot, growling bear at the start of the book, but his understanding soon shines through.
It was lovely to catch up with Laurie and Cam and not so good to re-meet Mother!
The trip to Paris was unexpected and I so enjoyed Siena showing Jason the sights. I love Paris and it made me want to hop on Eurostar!
Now my fingers and toes are crossed for Will and Lisa's story next!
This is my first book by Jules Wake and this will not be my last book. Loved having this book and the chance to read/review it! Our heroine is, Siena Browne-Martin who is looking to get away for a little while. This puts her on the path to meeting our hero, Jason Landon. Who is somewhat put off at first by Siena and is very hard on her. But Jason starts to see beyond his thoughts of what she is to the real person. This starts their sweet story.
After waiting for two years to read this, I have to say, I am terribly disappointed. Predictable, cliché chick lit. Was almost a DNF. Don’t be fooled by the title. They spent less than 5 minutes in Paris. I am a sucker for romance and Paris but this was anything but! Wish I could get my money and time back!!!
I bought this book after reading Covent Garden In The Snow and I have to admit I found it rather disappointing. The characterisations in this book are very flat and nobody feels like a flesh and blood person. The majority of the tale is set in Leighton Buzzard with only a brief sojourn in Paris so I was expecting snow by the Seine and instead got snow by Watling Street.
Siena in particular is nothing more than a materialist who appears to blame everything in life on her mother - as is the way of this genre mothers are either completely apple-cheeked and wonderful or complete harridans and Siena's mother is the latter. Her conversion in to this warm, capable organiser is not entirely believable and I found myself heaving a few hearty sighs of annoyance at her antics.
Jason is the surly, crossed in love male whose heart she has to win. He is a slightly more fleshed out character with a decent support network and a passion for brewing. It is this passion that prevents the character from becoming annoying to the same level as Siena's but he is still right up there for this reader.
I found myself just wanting to get to the end of the book so that they could be together and it was all over. Particularly as I could not really see either of these people together and it felt all forced and contrived to get them to this point. Especially the section where a few drinks breaks through Siena's repressed sexuality - bit of a dangerous message there in my mind. If she had suffered at the hands of her fiance as the novel would have us believe then I don't think the "love of a good man" and a few wines would break through that trauma.
Her estranged sister Laurie and her gentleman, Cameron, are far more interestingly written and so little time is spent with them. It did make me wonder if their story was dealt with in another tome but I was so disappointed in this book that I find I don't really want to bother looking at Ms. Wake's books to find out.
However, this is a 2015 publication so maybe Ms. Wake was still finding her feet, I may well check out one of her later books in case this is a blip but I remain to be convinced that more disappointment will not follow.
To sum up it a bland, cookie cutter read that is, on the whole, inoffensive. If you are a fan of this genre then you may well extract more enjoyment from this book than I did. I did give it three stars, this much is blatantly true, but only as I fear my judgement was clouded by loving Covent Garden In The Snow so much that my judgement of this book may have been impaired.
This was my first book by Jules Wake, however, I did not realize this was a part of the series. therefore this is second out of three books. And after reading this great novel, I added the other two to my TBR list and will read those very soon.
From Paris With Love this Christmas concentrates on Siena. From the first pages of the book, she is painted as a spoiled, rich brat who ran away from home (France). She meets grampy Jason, her older sister's tenant who is renting/looking after Laurie's estate. We have a typical beginning of the story. However chapter after chapter, we are starting to get to know our characters, and their stories are what makes this book so great!
Siena turns out to be pretty realistic with her goals. After her mother cancels all her credit cards and stops her allowance, she lands a door to door sales job, that does not end well. But after her first failure, Siena doesn't run back to her family. She even does not asks her sister for a financial help. As soon as she is back on her feet, Siena gets another job, as a waitress. To my surprise, she never complains, not once!!
And Jason is also not your typical next door guy as he appears to be at the beginning. "Wall Street" guy turned out to be a pretty good beer brewer. He is successful in business but not in love. His last relationship ended terribly and he is doing his best to avoid that type of situation in the future.
Siena's sudden unwelcome arrival and wish to stay in England longer than a weekend made Jason furious. But as the book goes on, they learn to live with each other, shared their secrets, built a great and warm friendship and felt in love... right on time for Christmas.
An incredible story of love, trust, friendship, and willpower. An astonishing set of characters that I am looking forward to learning more about in the next two books.
I'm a massive fan of Jules Wake and I've been reading as many of her books as I can get my hands on. I ended up reading this out of order in the series but that didn't affect my enjoyment of the novel.
Siena and Jason snap decisions about each other based on their first impressions and I really liked the way the reader was almost encouraged to make the same snap decisions with the information provided in the early scenes. I felt like over the course of the book, I was peeling back layers at the same time as the characters so I was really invested in the story.
As with all Jules Wake novels, the settings are sketched spectacularly and by the end of the story you're researching flight prices to european cities (or is that just me?). The contrast between Paris and Leighton Buzzard highlights the change in Siena's life and highlights her development as a character.
Some of the themes in this book are slightly heavier that others I've read by this author and parts seemed a little less believable so it's not my favourite book in the series but it's still a gorgeous, absorbing read.
This was such a cute story. It made me feel warm and fuzzy which is exactly what I want from this genre, especially when it’s set at Christmas. I could forgive the errors missed by editing because I was too busy enjoying the read. The main character Siena is a little annoying to start with, but I quickly warmed to her and her tenacious nature. Jason, our male lead, was gruff and grumpy but you quickly realise that he’s hiding a soft squidgy centre underneath all that bravado. The story itself is engaging and well thought out. If this isn’t a lesson in communication, then I don’t know what is. Talking to each other would have saved themselves a lot of hassle, but of course, what’s a romance novel without a misunderstanding or two!
It was only when I added it to Goodreads that I discovered that this is book two of a series, however this holds up well as a standalone. I didn’t feel I’d missed anything. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas read.
Opět moje oblíbená autorka a tentokrát i povedený překlad. Ach. Ano, je to sladké až přeslazené. Ano, je to perfektní. Miluju Jules Wake.
The Christmas atmosphere in this book is almost nonexistent, and as for Paris, it barely makes an appearance. Honestly, it might have been more fitting to title the book From London with Love. The lack of Parisian charm was a real disappointment for me.
The plot fits well into the Romantic Escapes series, and I understand its connection to the first book. You get exactly what you’d expect: the gradual bonding of two protagonists who don’t get along at first, some character growth, a bit of drama, solid friendships, and dealing with family issues.
However, I was disappointed by how little space Laurie and Siena were given—they deserved much more development.
Loved the book and just didn't want to put it down. When I first met Sienna she came across as a spoilt rich brat but as you went deeper you got to know her she was so misunderstood. Love the detail of the Chateaux so much you could imagine it. As for the clothes, bags and shoes , a life you can only dream of! Yet again all the expensive cars from the previous book set in Italy with Laurie and Cam so you found out what happened to them. A world and lifestyle to imagine. Can't wait to read the next exotic location.
3.75 ⭐ I enjoyed this a lot more than I expected (and I think it might actually be because of the cover 😂).
We don’t often see main characters like Siena, and I absolutely loved her! That said, I think a few sensitive topics could have been handled with more depth, especially since they were integral to the characters and plot.
Also, the title is so misleading—this is set mostly in England, not Paris! 😂
My first xmas book of 2017 and I’m glad to say it was a good one . Couldn’t wait for a quiet 5 minutes to read it. A feel good book that makes you want to put up your xmas tree . Sienna with 2 n’s finds happiness with Jason and learns to live independently in England . Jason learns to smile, trust and love again.
I will look for other books by the author.

Perfect romantic Christmas Story. It was a great riches to rags story of the unraveling of a person's life to realize what really matters. It was definitely a fairytale set in London and Paris that was perfect for is hopelessly romantic girl. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a fast reading heartwarming story of a Christmas Romance .
Love the characters. It's hard to imagine what it must be like to go from riches to being virtually penniless, yet having the gumption to go out and do something about it. I enjoyed Siena's (that's Siena with one n) wit and humor and her ways of overcoming challenges. Her relationship with Jason really shines. Great book.
An enjoyable festive read which keeps you engaged. The title is fairly misleading as a very limited amount of time is actually spent in Paris. I was also disappointed at the huge number of grammatical errors throughout and I’m surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned in any other reviews. I didn’t realise this was part of a series and will follow up with the others!
Kept my interest right from the start. Why had she run away, how would she survjve ? Will she make a fresh start or go back to Paris? All this with new friends a love interest and a bit of suspense make this my type of book.
This book and the book, "From Italy with Love", both kept me up way past my bedtime! I fell in love with the characters, (except for Yves and Laurie's mother). They are amazingly real.
