An interesting look and look into the model prayer of THE LORD'S PRAYER. Most of all the Christian community prays the Lord's Prayer as a prayer, in and of itself. However, it was a model prayer for all of us to follow as an outline to pray our own individual prayers. By breaking down all prayers, of ours, by following the basics presented in this specific prayer model. We can all learn a thing, or two, about prayers...if only we were to pay more attention to the lessons that Jesus presented us! This is an interesting look into the praying of the Lord's Prayer. Well worth the time to read.
BASIC SYNOPSIS This book isn't so much an in depth dissection of the Lord's prayer, but more how praying the Lord's prayer shaped the author's personal testimony.
MY THOUGHTS A quick and easy read with a couple of good points. I confess I skim read sections of the book because I wasn't looking for a memoir, but more on the prayer itself. Still, it's worth reading, more so if you can get it for free or really cheap like I was fortunate too. I'd give this 2,5 stars if we could give half stars.
One gripe: I'm no grammar nazi, but one thing that really triggers me is the incorrectly used phrase "Could care less", which unfortunately no proof reader noticed in this book. Hopefully that gets corrected in a later edition.
I don't know if a book can feel "low budget" but that's the case here. This feels very much like a transcript of a local church sermon. That's not to say it's not interesting, because Keith obviously takes a keen interest in theology and Bible interpretation, also drawing on the personal experiences of himself and others to fill the pages. Not a life-changing book, but if you're interested in the topic it's worth a look.
This is an older book that was written in the context of the American south (Texas). The writing was based on stories, rather than teaching, which was OK. I had mixed feelings about the book. The God focus was excellent. The heart of the author was also (I believe) correct, and the book had occasional nuggets of brilliance. Unfortunately, there was too much material that seemed to me to be irrelevant or even distracting in 2022, that separated those brilliant parts.
A very well wrtten "companion" book. For me a companion book is, as the author himself puts it, not so much a "how to" book but more of an "adds to" book providing a clearer understanding of the subject matter, in this case the Prayer more commomly called "The Lords Prayer". A book which should be read and then referred to again and again.
The author writes from the perspective of one who has lived his life in the shadow of the Lord’s Prayer. His personal reflections and stories wonderfully illustrate a life of dependence upon the Lord.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking this journey to Houston and beyond. I am called to a similar mission in Kansas City and I pray the Holy Spirit will not stop bringing it to mind.
It is just amazing the way this book encoded the Jesus prayer for us. We can follow it and pray with heart to our God and with good actions. After reading this book, communicating with God has never been the same!!
This has been a good book to study. It has been beneficial to me in many ways. I encourage you to grow your faith by reading it along with your Bible studies.
Many revealing things when you read this book. This book was different with many of School of prayer book, The explanation quite simple, direct, and to the point. There is no exact way, but understand the basic, what define prayers are.
As I read this book a feeling of peace can to me. I found a way to pray where I didn't sound fake in my head. I have been going through some troubled times and I found splice here.
I added this book to my daily devotional reading and found it to be a very inspiring book. It is a book that I plan to read again to be sure that I absorb everything in it. It is my desire to establish a better prayer life.
I am a little disappointed in the book. In my opinion it is more about his ministry in the streets of Houston than the Lords Prayer. While there were some good points about prayer in general not a lot about the Lords Prayer.
A good book to add to my sermon resource library. Makes me want to preach a sermon series on the Lord's Prayer. Good scriptural insight with personal stories from the author.
The book wasn't what I was expecting. The first half of the book was more of an autobiography that sometimes felt like it was rambling along and not very focused on the Lord's Prayer. I found the end of the book much clearer in its concept and more focused on prayer.
Well written book with many inspirational stories. This book brings a fresh look to The Lord's Prayer and offers insight into the meaning of this ageless prayer.
Interesting read on the Lord's Prayer. The personal stories and reflections gave good context and examples of the power and the use of this wonderful prayer.
