In an attempt to clear some cookbooks out of my to-read list, I got this from the library. Only one section even applied to me, the vegetarian chapter, and most of the recipes in that section seemed a bit out of proportion, often too sweet sounding. I didn't try anything so I can't speak to the actual end result (but I'm a pretty good cook and feel like I know how some flavors will taste together). Meat eaters will likely find more from this cookbook than I did (would have liked more greens recipes in particular, considering the title!)

The other strange thing about this one is that it somehow has a textbook feel, maybe a lower budget printing or something.

Although this cookbook is very specific in what it offers - African slow cooker soups and stews - it offers a variety of very interesting recipes. The recipes are easy to read, easy to make, and guaranteed to please at the dinner table. The recipes offer combinations of flavors and textures that are both unique and delicious - try the Sweet Potato Soup with its blend of plums, cinnamon, peanut butter, and fresh sweet potato!

A Field of Greens also offers useful information and recipes for African spice blends, basic stocks, as well as some basic vocabulary and culture references from the different countries the recipes are derived from. If you are looking for delicious new recipes to add to your repertoire, try this!
