All-around average teenager Tsukune can't get accepted to any high school save one...but on his first day he finds the rest of the student body doesn't appear average in the least. Best of all, the cutest girl on campus can't wait to fling her arms around his neck! Wait a sec'--are those her teeth around his neck too...? Tsukune's going to have one heck of a hickey when he gets home from Monster High! But does he have a chance in H E double hockey sticks of raising his grades at a school where the turf war isn't between the jocks and the nerds but the vampires and the werewolves?
Akihisa Ikeda (池田晃久) is a manga artist/manga-ka best known for the manga series Rosario + Vampire (ロザリオとバンパイア Rosario to Vampire). He's been a huge fan of vampires and monsters since he was a little kid. He says one of the perks of being a manga artist is being able to go for walks during the day when everybody else is stuck in the office.
Tsukune isn’t a ghoul anymore, but he is definitely turning full vampire with a taste for blood… but only Moka the vampire’s blood. The first chapter had more gore and was going abit more full on horror than normal. I wish the rest of the volume had continued on like that! Really excited to see where the rest of this story goes, even though the volumes do feel a little formulaic with the introduction of a new monster species as a foe every time and then either Moka or Tsukune or both of them defeat it. But I don’t mind it so much, as the familiarity can be nice. And I’m sure the story will move into different territory by the end.
I adore Rosario+Vampire. This series is goofy, fun and quite lovable. The mass amount of monsters and little pieces of lore I pick up makes it even more enjoyable. I truly enjoy how this series keeps growing and not just making it only about Moka. Everyone is starting to get involved with the action.
I can tell this is where the story is really starting to take off. Something is changing with Tsukune and I'm nosy where it's gonna go. Things will never be the same... Especially since we just met the Headmaster. I'm so excited to see where this goes! It only gets better and better.
If you want a manga that's a mix of romance, horror, fantasy, high school drama and action then grab this book! It's a fun, little, easy read.
This is the lowest rating I've given any of these volumes. I will say I was initally really confused as to what was going on, but I realised it's because I was reading it in the wrong direction. I think it's been a while since I've read a manga that is read in the traditional way. The translation of this wasn't the best and so it hindered my enjoyment because sentences weren't structured very well. This volume was so full of drama and nonescense that I found it extrememly annoying. This school clearly needs better regulations. We had a lot of action and it was somewhat entertaining, but I think at this point I'm just getting so bored of the repetitive formula for events. It's just getting a bit stale now. This whole volume just felt a bit slap dash, and just felt like short stories that didn't flow that well with the bigger picture. I was very aware of that this time around. I almost feel like the creators were running out of fillers and now I'm concerned about what the storyline will be like for season 2 of the manga.
Overall, I'm pretty disapointed with volume 7 and I wouldn't recommend it if it wasn't for the simple fact that I think you need to read this in order to know what is going on later.
This has been such a fun series. Action packed, funny, light-hearted, yet a true show of friendship. There are so many unique characters in this series so far. Everybook brings at least one (not to mention the regular cast). Check out the official summary. Although it is a generic summary for every volume so far, it does a good job of what the series is.
**WARNING-If you have not read previous volumes, this may contain spoilers for you!**
So, like the previous volume, we are still running with the theme of monstrels (a crossbreed: a mutt/mongrel). We meet another few who join in the hunt against Tsukune. Plus we get to learn more about the exorcist and the charm he placed on Tsukune. That guy is headed for trouble! I felt bad for him in this volume. He is really caught between a rock and a hard place. I liked how Kurumu is conflicted with what to do about her love rival, Moka.
This book did not have a lot of direct conflict going on, like in previous volumes, but was more a foreshadowing of what is to come. If left me with questions, but in a good way. Because now I get to go grab the next volume to get started on the answers!
Ghouls and Monstrels oh my! Monstrels (a monster version of the human derogatory term "mongrel", meaning someone of mixed ethnic ancestry) are monsters who have a wide-range of powers and unknown parentage, unlike the "pure breeds" like Moka, are on the loose at the school. I like the idea of a sort of monster "lower class". At last, there might exist a woman that might NOT fall in love with Tsukune! Also, that exorcist/headmaster of the school is really creepy and I suspect that he knows that Tsukune is human.
I am not going to write a longer review due to how easy it is to spoil stuff in these 2 volumes. This one is a continuation on the previous volume, and there is a lot of drama, tears, but also a renewed friendship between Moka and Kurumu, there are a battles, there is the reveal of who the exorcist was, and of course we see how Moka and Tsukune get together again, though it is quite awkward. Plus it doesn't help that Tsukune is feeling weird and doesn't understand what is happening with his body and what his new powers are.
The male protagonist of a harem is ACTUALLY doing something significant to the story??? What??? And the girls aren't completely useless and braindead for once??? AND have respectful friendships with other people beside the harem leader???
Ok, I'll stop with the sarcasm now, but seriously, there was a ton of character development and motivation stuff going on in this volume. This series gets better with each volume, and it's way more entertaining than the anime.
Moka gets posessed by a Monstrel nurse and attacks Tsukune, they also face off against a giant centipede monster. Tsukune begins to crave Moka's blood just as much as she craves his, which causes no end of angst. Not quite as good as the last volume, but still well worth a read. Artwork is just lovely and the characters are great fun.
This is a strange manga. It's not quite action, romance, horror, comedy, or even battle manga. It's some strange combination of all of them. The same thing happens in every volume. I feel the author missed out in a really good opportunity to explore a lot of the issues with a vampire/ghoul relationship. As it is, the plot advances at a snail's pace, while lots of fighting happens.
Flabbergasted that Moka has tried to kill Tsukune again, Kurumu puts her foot down. Moka needs to leave Tsukune and Yokai Academy! But more trouble is brewing with Tsukune's new found vampiric problems and possible expulsion...
So much drama in this volume! It gave me a headache.
The story progression of this series is amazing. The author keeps things getting more and more interesting. Be it adding to each characters backstory, adding new characters, changing current ones, or having them do something more intense than the last chapter. He always makes it a fun and interesting read.
Well Tsunue is a vampire or becoming one now it seems. It is a good book just wish Pines Library system of Georgia was faster with getting books in so i could be on #8 and #9 now. Now to go on and read #8 as it seems like the plot is getting good. The manga also includes a lot of differences from the anime and i kinda forgot that due to how long it has been since i read #6.
I like that we are seeing a little more of the other characters now like Kumuru and Yukari and I hope we continue to get a good mix of them. The characters are staying interesting and I hope to see more so that they don't get boring.
The series is kind of repetitive. Almost every time some new monster comes up, it's either because 1: They're back for revenge. 2: They were hired by someone. 3: They found a weird interest in Tsukine or Moka or even Kurumu.
There was a fun playfulness about this series that I really enjoyed. The author threw in a healthy mix of comedic relief to each character and I loved how there were so many completely opposite personalities.
Eh.... this volume really wasn't that great. It wasn't horrible, it was just boring. I was intrigued near the end to find the awesome exorcist guy but other than that, nothing was particularly surprising or interesting. On to the next, I suppose.
The holy lock. The only thing keeping Tuskune from turning into a ghoul. But what does this lock contain that met be the end of the seal. Does he have chose to stay at the school with his friends or end up returning to the maddess within him.
Ok, I am glad we are finally meeting the people who run this school and unfortuatnly we don't get to learn much about them but still cool designs and glad we are getting more mythical creature inspired characters.
A mongrel nurse who can control people tries to attack Tsukune. Kurumu almost betrays Moka. Tsukune is attacked by a centipedia. He's forced to join a club or be expelled.

Rosario+vampire is a good akuma based manga. It has a good art style and a good plot line. The akuma concept is good and very entertaining. Characters are good and interesting.
Great - the stakes have really been upped, there's finally something bigger than just the monster of the week for them to fight against, and the group dynamic is really heartfelt. Really good.
In this you find out whats the rumors about the academy. So much secrets, kept me entertained! Emotions flow in this volume. Alot, of strong protecting.
Moka is now controlled by one of the monsterels to kill Tsukune. Kurume is able to stop her bringing her back to her senses. But because Moka has tried to kill Tsukune a few times now, she no longer trusts her.
Another monsteral tries to proposition Kurume, knowing that if would be better if Moka was gone. But she decides not to betray her friends, otherwise she would not be worthy of Tsukune. Moka did want to leave, she tried, even packed and repacked, but could not do it.
After, Tsukune almost loses control when Moka falls and start to bleed. He drinks water but it is not quench his thirst at all, and realized it is because he is craving blood. When a centipede demon attacks, he is able to stop him.
Because of a fake newspaper calling out the school, Tsukune is expelled. A graffiti demon continuous writes on building and Tsukune is able to stop him using his vampiric powers, before he is able to reach Moka.
The Headmaster, who is the exorcist that chained Tsukune vampiric powers, enlist his help.
