This was a great little cookbook. Not only are there some great recipes that I can't wait to try, but I learned a lot about migraines.

Migraines aren't a huge problem in my house. I've never had a migraine, but my husband gets them every once in a while, usually only a few times a year. His aren't too severe. He doesn't get nausea or dizziness, just a pounding headache and light sensitivity. Now that I know about every individual's migraine threshold from this book, I'd say his migraine threshold is probably pretty high.

I don't plan to cut out any of the problem foods or test for sensitivities, but I do like the idea of trying out a few out of these migraine-friendly foods. Even for me, who doesn't get migraines, it's always good to work anti-inflammatory foods into your diet. My husband and I already eat a lot of ginger and tumeric, since we love Indian and Middle Eastern food. So, I've got a lot of the spices needed for many of these recipes :)

The recipe I'm most excited to make is the bison chili. I've been wanting to try cooking with bison for a while now, since they sell it at my grocery store.

Other recipes I'm thinking of trying are the ginger/carrot soup, the blueberry muffins, and the Thai-spiced baked potatoes :)

I found myself wishing there were two different symbols for vegan/vegetarian; there is only one used interchangeably for both/either so you need to really read the ingredient lists to be sure if hunting for vegan recipes. I did like that everything is gluten free in the entire book. The budget info is pretty misleading though with only two categories: “very” budget friendly and “moderately”; yet they all assume you have a pretty varied spice rack and full pantry at the start. The insistence on “fresh” herbs and using only filtered water for cooking definitely makes this read as a well-off person’s recipe book. So, overall ok and I may try a recipe or two but I’m glad this was a library book.

Wow, this cookbook is pretty amazing. Besides the book being quite aesthetically pleasing, I appreciate how there is so much information about migraines and other food sensitivities. Weaver covers just about any medical condition that can be affected by food. The recipes are easy to follow and don't have so many ingredients that make them seem overwhelming to attempt. If I'm ever looking for a recipe, one of the first things I look at is how many ingredients are needed. If there are too many, I go right past it. Despite not having any medical conditions affecting my dietary intake, I tried three recipes and found them delicious. Knowing that they weren't going to cause inflammation or stomach issues is always good. I highly recommend this book to anyone, especially those with migraines or other food sensitivities.

I attended Stephanie's book signing event and listened to her speak. I was so intrigued that I read the entire beginning about diet and health and how it is all interrelated. Stephanie really knows what she is talking about.
The recipes are all tested by people who cook often, and also, people like me who don't. This cookbook makes it look easy. The directions are accurate and easy to follow, and the photos are not only delightful, they give me a clue to know if I am on the right track!
I purchased 2 copies, one for myself and the other for a friend with gluten intolerance, and I have recommended it to numerous others, even the random person in a store clerk who mentions a migraine.
What a treasure! I highly recommend this book.

I adore this cookbook. It is NOT just for people with migraines and other food sensitivities. So far every recipe has been fantastic and, as a serious bonus, easy to make. My kids have loved everything too. Despite not having food-related issues, I've learned so much from this book and realize an anti-inflammatory diet would probably be very beneficial for me. It is well-researched by an author with excellent credentials. Oh, and it is GORGEOUS. Thrilled to have found this gem!

Nothing wrong with it, but recipes were similar to things I already make. So maybe “good on you”, as the Brits say? Lol

Some good recipes for migraines, although the actual plan is 8 months and a little overwhelming. May try if the other book doesn't help.
