WHAT BEGAN AS A SIMPLE TAILING OF ROGER PRICE BECAME THE WORST WEEK OF MAIZIE ALBRIGHT'S LIFE...
"Action-packed, fast-paced, impossible to put down." It's The Wall Street Journal bestselling author, Larissa Reinhart's third book in the "sassy, sexy, and fun" best-selling Maizie Albright Star Detective series.
“The mystery and detective cases drive the story, but Larissa Reinhart’s characters steal the show every time.” ~The Girl with Book Lungs
#StillDetectiveing As an ex-star of a hit teen detective show, Maizie Albright gets the youth demographic. Or so she thought. Now that she’s adulting, today’s kids make Maizie feel out of date. At least the teen Youtube stars of Bigfoot Trackers who want to hire her to look into the disappearance and possible murder of their producer. A murder the police find as likely as Bigfoot.
Maizie has her own suspicions about the new celebrity retreat where their missing person was last seen. Particularly when she learns her ex-fiancé has been hired to run the Center. Kind of an issue when she thought Oliver was in prison. Kind of an issue when Nash, the man of her dreams, is out of commission.
Wait, not man of her dreams. Boss of her fantasies.
Professionally speaking, of course.
While Maizie’s looking for a missing Youtube star, she’s wrangling her mother’s wedding, assuaging an overzealous probation officer, and struggling to keep Nash Security Solutions solvent. Conspiracy theories collide with real-life catastrophes beginning with murder and possibly ending with Maizie’s life.

Former child star and private investigator in training Maizie Albright is back in action with her boss/mentor Wyatt Nash. If learning the tricks of the trade were all she had to do, life would definitely be easier for Maizie. But she's also juggling court-ordered therapy, probationary community service, and keeping her feelings for Nash at bay. But when Nash is sidelined after an explosive turn of events, Maizie adds even more to her already full plate--and she's not really handling any of it very well.
Maizie is a rare character--optimistic, adventurous, outgoing, and exasperating! She is someone I can't help but enjoy as the story unfolds. And the chemistry between her and Nash makes for some smoldering tension! The mystery and detective cases drive the story, but Larissa Reinhart's characters steal the show every time.
This is a fantastic addition to the Maizie Albright series. There is so much happening in this story, poor Maizie has her hands full. The author has weaved a complex and intricate plot with many threads that come together to create a satisfying reading experience. With humor, suspense, action, and a bit of romance, there is something for everyone in this book. I look forward to reading what happens next.
This is a complex mystery with some romance. In this particular story, Maizie (the Protagonist) as several men vying for her attention. Too bad she's not in her right mind to deal with any of them. She's already in trouble with her probation officer, her boss is unable to work and her job on the line, her Mother is driving her crazy with wedding details, she receives a not to pleasant surprise visitor, a client avoiding her, a missing person to find... her to-do list growing by the minute. Needless to say, she's not getting any sleep, and that's not helping her frame of mind.
The main characters are interesting, smart, funny.. and have complicated pasts. There is a lot of humor, mostly at the expense of Maizie. A lot of it self-deprecating. There are also some moments when you feel her heart ache. There is some mild violence. It's a busy story. Always lots going on. But don't worry, nothing you can't keep up with. As far as the mystery goes, there are a lot of questionable motives and actions by the characters. You may have suspicions but you will probably be a little surprised at the final outcome. There are also many different crimes happening at the same time, making Maizie's head explode. I will admit, the primary location of the mystery, and where most of the book takes place, was a little hard for me to visualize. It was confusing for me with all the different walls, fences, gaps and buildings. It didn't take away from the story, but it was hard to picture exactly how things were playing out during those particular scenes.
It is part of a series, but can be read as a stand alone without any problems. There is no sexual content, so it's a safe read as far as that is concerned. It's also safe in regards to language.
“I really needed a talk with the universe and find out what I’d done to tick it off.”
Maizie’s Albright’s flying solo on this case as her boss and mentor, Wyatt Nash, is in the hospital in a coma. Maizie’s kind of forced to keep working due to her probation, but her job keeps getting in the way of her community service requirements, as does a lot of other things, including her mother’s impending wedding. Vicki Albright might have been her manager, but as a mother she leaves a lot to be desired....
This case involves the Wellspring Center, a new high end holistic spa in Black Pine. Since Maizie’s parole officer has arranged her new therapist and her new community service hours, we find our heroine spending time there as her new underage clients are connected to the place in some fashion as well. As Maizie is wont to say...Adulting is hard. Given the circumstances she really is growing up, standing up for herself and following through, in true Maizie style, as best she can.
Mazie’s back! And I for one am very glad to see her. In true Albright fashion, she ticks off some of her friends, keeps running into her past, has run-ins with the bad guys, however she’s also beginning to take responsibility for her actions. I found myself cheering for her as she begins to understand her abilities. But the ending cracks me up and opens the door to a whole new world. A great addition to a fun series. Highly Recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this book from the author and voluntarily reviewed it]
What started out as a simple tailing of Roger Price has turned into so much more. When Nash winds up in the hospital in a coma and Mazie is a hot mess of everything. She tries hard to keep the business afloat and realizes how hard it is. Mazie is approached by three teenagers looking for Chandler a man they work with on their YouTube channel. They are determined that something happened to Chandler. What could of happened and how much danger are the teens in?
Mazie also has a new therapist Dr. Trident whose into selfie therapy. Apparently taking selfies will help heal your mind. She is also working for Dr. Trident at the Wellness Center. As Mazie spends time at the Wellness Center she learns there is more going on especially with ex's that should remain long gone.
I love Mazie and her hot mess of everything. She tries so hard to channel inner acting jobs to help her get through everything and when the chips are down Mazie is someone I definitely would want on my side. Mazie can make you laugh and want to reach into the book and give her a boost of confidence when she needs it! Can't wait to see what Mazie deals with next especially with the cliffhanger to the story!

4 Star review NC-17 (A Maizie Albright Star Detective Mystery #5) by Larissa Reinhart
Audio Review:
I was intrigued as I followed the clues along with Maizie Albright as she continues to follow her dream of being a private investigator. Maizie used to be the star of a hit teen detective show, now it’s her reality.
When the stars of a YouTube channel ask Maizie to investigate the disappearance of their producer, she jumps at the chance. Finding out that her ex-fiance Oliver, is running the place where the producer was last seen and that her boss Wyatt Nash is unable to assist her, she finds herself in a tough spot.
The narrator really brought this book to life for me and did a good job keeping me entertained. The characters are easy to relate too, likeable and NC-17 was a a book filled with a intrigue, mystery and suspense which kept me invested throughout as I listened to Joan Dukore’s performance.
NC-17 is the third installment in Maizie Albright Star Detective series but as with two previous ones it can be read as a standalone.
Maizie and Nash are following a guy whose mother has hired them. All looks rather innocent until the guy walks into the bank and brings a bomb with him. Nash ends up in a coma and Maizie is devastated. Without and money, without any clients things look very grim. To top it all off three teenagers show up claiming that their friend has gone missing. After that is one thing after the other, Maizie is having panic attacks and time is running out.
Another great read in the series. Action packed and fast paced it is impossible to put down. Old lovable characters, some less than liked than others combined with new faces make a great cast. Humor and witty dialogue add to the charm of this fabulous series.
Maizie Albright has her hands full. She is on probation for something her ex-fiance did in California, she is also trying to become a real private detective by shadowing Nash, a real P.I. But he is out of commission when a bomb went off in a bank. Now Maizie is by herself, and three young kids hire her to find their missing friend who follows Bigfoot around. Plus there is the conditions of her probation she needs to do or else her probation officer is about to send her to jail for now doing them! Can Maizie get everything done? Oh, there is more going on, but you will have to read the story to find out what. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book.
How much trouble can one girl get into? She always amazes me. Mazie has a huge heart and wants to help others but the path it sometimes leads her down is somewhat scary and very interesting. I love her and Nash. What a pair! Oh, and we can’t forget Lamar, who makes the best donuts ever. I love how these 3 interact with each other. Throw in 3 kids and Big Foot, oh and U-tube and you have a story. There are some surprises in this story that I can’t wait to see where they lead in the next book. Be sure to check out Mazie, Nash and crew. I received an ARC of this book, but my opinion is my own.
Wow! What an adventure! I couldn’t put it down! The heroine can sure get into some interesting things! I love the way she channels her past TV roles into her new life - especially when she gets into trouble, which is constantly! I love the Georgia-small town setting. And finally the romantic side of her life is heating up! If you like funny, Southern mysteries and loving heroines, you will love this latest addition of the Maizie Albright series!
You have to love Maizie!! God love her she is having a week from he**. Her boss is hurt, the company needs money, and old flames are showing up. Maizie sets out on her on to help some teenagers help their friend, who are looking for Bigfoot. Will she be able to solve the mystery, keep men at bay and figure out who she is in love with. Read and find out!!!
NC-17, the latest Maizie Albright mystery, by Larissa Reinhart, is fabulous! Maizie and Nash are caught up in a bank robbery with a bomb exploding. Nash is injured so it’s up to Maizie to save Nash Security Solutions. Her clients are teenagers searching for a missing person….and Bigfoot! Maizie is a hot mess as she tries to juggle the case, her new probation officer, community service at Wellspring Spa, and Vicki’s upcoming nuptials. When her hunky ex, a couple of murders, and lack of sleep are added to the mix, Maizie struggles to stay afloat. Jolene Sweeney doesn’t help as she tries to worm herself back into Nash’s business and heart. As the intrigue thickens, Maizie gets deeper into a situation that she may not be able to get out of! The ending leaves you wanting the next book…NOW! I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book and highly recommend this series.
This was a very different type of cozy mystery. It brings Hollywood people to Georgia. Maizie Albright is a former child star and adult reality star who managed to get into legal trouble I Hollywood because of her ex-fiancée, Oliver. She is ordered by the courts to live with her father in Georgia and to stay away from show business, which is all she knows. In addition she is on probation, must do community service and attend therapy.
She is trying to become a PI since she has a degree and must be mentored for two years by a licensed PI in order to receive her license. To complicate matters, she is falling in love with her mentor, Nash, who is divorced. His ex has opened her own PI business and has raided most of his clients so that the business is on very shaky financial grounds. To make matters worse he gets injured in a bank when the person they have been hired to follow sets off a bomb. He ends up in a coma in the hospital.
The PI firm is approached by 3 teenagers who have a Big Foot Video Blog or Vlog to find their older friend who has disappeared when he went to investigate the fence along a new wellness spa. Since this person has a habit of disappearing, neither his family or the police are too concerned since it appears he has flown to Mexico. The three teenagers don’t believe this. As Maizie is the only one available at the business that could help them she takes on the case.
In the meantime Maizie has to do her therapy and community service at the same wellness spa or face having her probation revoked. Her probation officer is a real hard nose and doesn’t accept excuses for Maizie being late to appointments and therapy. Unfortunately all Maizie has for transportation is a small motor bike.
To complicate matters her mother and former manager, who also has her own reality show, shows up at the spa with her fiancé who used to be Maizie’s fiancé for a ratings stunt. Her mother is planning an elaborate and outlandish wedding and wants Maizie involved. Unfortunately her mother doesn’t treat her fiancé right and he keeps threatening to walk away from the wedding.
To complicate matters even further, her former fiancé, Oliver, who got her into legal trouble is free and able to travel where he wants. He end up at the spa as the manager and wants Maizie back. He tries to help her find the missing man.
Many strange things happen to Maizie as she tries to do her community service, engage in therapy with a therapist who believes in selfies, and tries to figure out what might have happened to the videographer who disappeared. Several people are found murdered, and Maizie gets into numerous scrapes trying to solve the mysteries. She also gets some help from a local cop who also is romantically interested in Maizie.
There are so many quirky characters in this book, including Maizie, her mother, her mother’s fiancé, her 6 year old stepsister who sets traps for Big Foot, her two friends who work at the local salon, her boss’ ex-wife who orders her receptionist to pull a gun on Maizie when she shows up at her office, as well as several unsavory characters.
It made me laugh numerous times.
The only thing I found annoying were the hashtag chapter titles. I’m not really into Twitter but I think this book would appeal to those that are more Twitter savvy and are interested in Big Foot.

Oh wow, I loved this book. I have enjoyed the Maizie Albright series but think this is the best yet. I just love every one of the characters, especially Maizie and the often funny situations she finds herself getting into. Her little sisters attempts to catcher the tooth fairy is just too cute and will make everybody want to believe anything is possible. The mystery was excellent and really well thought out and plotted, so much so that I was booked until the very last word and plot twist. I think the plot idea of an actress having to work as a private investigator and do community service is perfect and if it isn't already a tv show it should be, then add in Bigfoot and you are are on to a winner. This is book there and although it is not necessary to have read or listened to the other books, I would highly recommend that you do because they are a lot of fun and you won't be disappointed. I can't wait for the next book, this author is definitely on my just listen too list. Whe ex actress Maizie's boss Nash is injured in an attempt to foil a bank robbery, Maizie finds herself trying to keep the business running, so when he awakes from his coma he will still have a business. The problem is with Nash's ex wife is doing her best to put them out of business and Maizie only has one case. Three teenagers hire her to find there missing friend, who went missing while trying to find bigfoot. Nobody else is worried about him? So should Maizie? She has enough worry about as it is , what with worry about when or even will Nash wake up? She needs to get paid by the mother of the man who tried to hold up the bank, that got Nash hurt. Find a therapist and do community appointed voluntarily work and save the business. Her ex boyfriend is back in the picture, her mother is up to her usual tricks and meddling in her life. What else could go wrong? Can she solve her first case without Nash's help by finding the missing man? I really like the narrator and think she is a good choice for Maizie and her friends as she gives them some great voices.I I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Another delightful read full of all the things I love about Larissa Reinhart….mystery, sassiness, a bit of spice thrown in, with a lot of laughs.
This is the third book in the series, and it’s just as good as the previous books. Maizie finds herself in more trouble than before. She is in hot water with her probation officer...now she is mixed up in a bank robbery, with her boss and man she is falling for in the hospital, and now she is helping three teenagers try to find a missing Youtube star...oh there might be a Bigfoot sighting or two as well. However, it’s pretty convenient that the disappearance is connected to the new place she is supposed to be doing her community service. What could possibly go wrong, right?
As usual, I was hooked from the very first page of the book! Maizie is sometimes a walking trainwreck, but that is the reason I adore her! She is hilarious, and now teamed up with teenagers, she is even funnier! In this book, she will find herself confronting her past with her ex-fiance. Alas, no one can do that better than Maizie.
The storyline and plot were great with lots of twists to keep me guessing. Reinhart knows how to throw in just the right amount of romance. Maybe...just maybe....we will see where her relationship with Nash is going to go. You will have to read for yourself to find out!!!!
I have been a fan of Reinhart’s for several years! If you are looking for a series that moves quickly with just the right combination of sass, romance, and mystery, you really can’t got wrong with this one!!!!
NC-17 is the third book in author Larissa Reinhart’s Maisie Albright, Star Detective series. As Maisie and her boss, PI Wyatt Nash, are following Roger Price, a young man whose mother has hired them to look into his activities as she is concerned he is into drugs, they are led to the local bank as Roger leaves his place of business and travels there. Nash follows Roger in leaving Maisie in his truck. Moments later there is an explosion which put Nash in the hospital, Roger in jail, and Maisie scrambling to figure out what happened, administering to Nash’s needs, and finding ways to help keep the business afloat. The mother that hired them isn’t available to make payment but a young group of high school kids with a Bigfoot blog want to hire her to find out where their leader has disappeared.
Meanwhile, the new health center that has opened puts Maisie in position to log community service hours while partaking in the court ordered counseling required. In this strange place Maisie finds a psychologist that deals with selfie analysis and her ex-fiancé that landed her on probation in the first place as the spa manager.
As the story evolves, the threads of attempted bank robbery, missing Bigfoot hunter, and strange happenings at the health center entwine. And when an injured Nash finally comes to, it is to help Maisie tie up loose ends.
This well written, laugh out loud mystery will keep you guessing throughout. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
NC-17: A Maizie Albright Laugh-Out-Loud Comedy Mystery (Maizie Albright Star Detective Book 3) finds former hit teen detective Maizie Albright still working on obtaining her PI License. As usual she is hit head on with all sorts of obstacles that attempt to stop her before she can even begin to find her first clue.
Maizie finds herself being stretched in new ways. Her boss (and unrequited love interest) Nash is in a coma after attempting to thwart a crime. Maizie is trying her best to keep Nash Security Solutions afloat while he’s incapacitated. While in desperate need of clients, she wasn’t anticipating dealing with three teenagers, a lost YouTube star or two ex-fiancées! This is Maizie’s reality!!
Will teen star Maizie be able to relate to real life teenagers? Does she have the skills to solve the crime without Nash? Maizie is trying her best to prove she is an adult and discovers she’s also be becoming a pretty decent PI along the way. I was provided an ARC of this book by the author. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence.
NC-17 is book 3 in the fun and funny Maizie Albright cozy romantic mystery series. I haven't laughed so much while reading a cozy mystery in a long time! Maizie Albright was an actress who was forced to retire and now is training to become a Private Investigator and her boss is the handsome Wyatt Nash. They are following someone for a job but things go wrong. Maizie's ex-fiance shows up in town but he was supposed to be in jail. Three teens hire Maizie to find a friend of theirs who is missing. Nash Security is having financial problems so they are trying to find jobs but Nash's ex-wife just opened her own agency nearby which is adding to the problems. It all keeps Maizie very busy! I really like Maizie's friends Tiffany and Rhonda. The culprits aren't hard to guess but there is more going on to keep you engaged. Very enjoyable if you are looking for a light, fun, humorous cozy mystery with a little clean romance. I asked for and received an audiobook from the author for an honest review and the opinions are my own. The audiobook was well done and the narrator did a great job with all the voices.
Maizie Albright is an ex-actress on probation, training to be a private investigator. Left alone to run the office (while her boss is in a coma), Maizie must hold things together. Her to-do list includes getting new clients, collecting a past-due fee, attending therapy sessions, doing community service, and figuring out how to track down a missing person on her own. Sleep can’t fit into the schedule.
When three desperate teenagers (appearing on a Bigfoot Trackers U-Tube channel) hire Maizie to find their missing co-star, she can’t say no. Soon men with guns try to kill her, an ex-boyfriend turns up with a massive diamond ring, and her new therapist suggests selfie-therapy. Maizie’s courage and intelligence are sorely tested. Big Foot and guns don’t mix well.
This novel is guaranteed to keep readers interested from start to finish. I highly recommend this fast-paced, funny, and interesting mystery. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book.
Maizie is serving her probation terms at a new facility for holistic wellness. She is approached by 3 teenagers to take a case that the police have refused to look into. While this is going on she is worried about Nash, who is in a coma from an explosion from a failed bank robbery he tried to prevent.
Maizie is own her own, now she has to try and find a missing person, she also needs to find out why a vegetable garden needs high tech security.
Pro's - Another fun story about Maisie, Nash, and Maisie's adorable half sister. As well as her interfering and controlling mother who doesn't care if she is breaking parole regulations as long as Maisie is being used to make her money.
Con's - Maisie is being used by her mom for financial gain. Why doesn't she take mom to court to get some of her own money her mom has collected from close to 20 years of being her manager while she was a child actor. Mom is filthy rich while Maizie can't even afford a used car.
The mystery itself is threefold, the bank bombing, Wyatt getting hurt and incapacitated and Maizie on her own to help three teenagers. Maizie and Wyatt were working surveillance at a bank when the person of interest enters the bank. Wyatt goes in after him and a bomb ignites causing Wyatt to be hurt and taken to the hospital. Maizie must go it alone to figure out who is behind this while also working on her probation requirements. Additionally, three teenagers need help in finding their missing friend which they believe Big Foot grabbed him. The investigation is filled with pitfalls, unexpected twists, multiple motives and surprises that keep you glued right to the end. A perfect cozy mystery with just the perfect amount of humor, romance, mystery, intrigue, quirky characters, and adventure that will keep you completely engaged. The romance between Maizie and Wyatt is building. Will they finally admit to each other of their feelings? Highly recommend the series.
Maizie Albright gave up an acting career to become a private investigator. In this book, her boss is injured, and she is trying to keep the business going despite having to juggle the job, her mom's over the top demands, her teen clients, and a search for Bigfoot. There are so many things going on in her life that craziness comes naturally.
Maizie's latest adventure is a little darker than the previous books, but it is still very enjoyable. Maizie is still sassy even though she is stressed. This book can be read alone, but the reading experience is richer if the books are read in order.
I received an advanced reader's copy, and I wrote this review so that other people would know that this is a great book.
Once again Maizie is in over her head as her past comes to intrude on her present desire to earn a real P.I. license. Add in the reappearance of her old acquaintance, the one who got her into trouble in Hollywood, and Nash`s ex, trying to steal all their clients with her own firm. Maizie can`t seem to break totally away from show business, either as this time she is hired by a group of YouTubers to find a missing friend. Trying to build a new life, encourage a new romance, with a man who is presently in a coma, and stay alive keeps Maizie hopping through this novel. What could possibly go wrong next?
I voluntarily read an advance copy of this book. I was anxiously waiting for the next installment of Maizie Albright, and it was worth the wait! Maizie sure gets the chance to multi-task. She is on probation, serving her time while worrying about her boss, Nash, who is in a coma. She is hired by three teens to look into a case, and as usual, the course doesn't run smoothly. Intrigue, plot twists, family drama with her mama and a great Georgia setting make the perfect combination for a fun read.
What a wonderful storyteller! One minute I was laughing out loud but, turn a page and I was fighting not to let tears fall. The first chapter sets the stage perfectly for another Maizie triumph and tragedy rolled into one. Very well-written, even though I had to Google IMHO and GNO to get the meaning😉, with wonderful characters in a setting where Bigfoot just might be believable!
This series so much fun! Can someone really have that much rotten luck? Nothing goes right for Maizie. She is trying to hold the PI office together while her boss is in a coma from one of their cases. Too many ex-fiancé's come out of the woodwork to make her life even more difficult than probation, court ordered therapy and community service. But she pushes through it all! She's a hot mess but so much fun!
While she is still in training to become a P.I., three desperate teenagers ask for Maizie help, and, as her boss is in a coma, she's on her own on this one.
Soon, things become very dangerous, and Maizie's capabilities and courage are tested.
Funny, with lots of suspense, action and even some romance, this is a great addition to the series and a wonderful read.
Lots of fun to read. Maizie has her hands full...of men, mysteries, teens, her family, and much more. Entertaining reading. I still don't understand the title. By that rating I expected some offensive (to me) adult content. I voluntarily read an advance reader copy of this book. I am eager to read more of Maizie's adventures.
Excellent addition to the series. Loved the characters and their development. Good story line that kept me engaged to the end. Can't wait until the next book!!!! I received a free copy for an honest reveiew.
