The second book in the Bread Machine Cookbook series features 130 original recipes. It includes special sections on international breads, coffee breads, pizzas and hand-pies that offer new ideas for using the appliance. Current instructions and common questions and answers make this book a must for the bread machine user.
On the strength of the first Nitty Gritty Bread Machine Cookbook, I picked this one up, and it’s just as good, with a focus on more unique recipes. There are cheese breads, spice breads, vegetable and fruit breads, and a series of international and holiday breads, such as Italian Easter Bread (Parmesan and pepper), English New Year’s Rum Bread, Swedish Chocolate Bread, Moroccan Bread (anise, sesame, and rye), and more.
So far it’s made some great breads. The one that uses leftover rice was surprisingly light, and the one with cracked wheat and oats, now that I’ve made it, tastes like it’d be even better as rolls.
Love this because I can go right to it several times a year for feast day recipes. I make the dough in the machine and take it out to bake in the oven. Can start as late as late morning and have a special feast day bread by dinner. A great one is Pan de Muerto for All Saints's and All Souls' days.
